Looks like another set-back for sailings. https://en.mercopress.com/2020/12/09/quantum-of-the-seas-returns-to-port-due-to-suspected-covid-19-case
I wonder if the 'volunteers' would still be lining up had it proceeded.
Sounds like it will be a LONG time before cruising resumes, if ever.- 1

If you could have any food item off a Carnival ship right now, what would you choose?!
My current choice... I would kill for a Quattro Formaggi pizza from Pizza Pirate.
The baby spring lamb or the porterhouse, but they no longer serve this.

Is that really the case? My understanding was that they don't yet know whether the vaccine will prevent us from passing Covid on to others, not that it had be determined it definitely will not.
Nor suddenly do they know if it will have any impact on those over 55.

The likelihood of bankruptcy increases with each passing month of cancellation, all while some people are banking their money interest free with a corporation. Be careful wishing for that OBC, which will evaporate when CCL has to pay its creditors. The gamble may not be worth it.

We were SO glad to add Celebrity to our list of lines that have taken us to Bermuda back in August of '19, after a 11 year absence. And CAN'T WAIT to repeat the experience. It was actually the first time I cruised without any advance planning or research, and was so much better for it. No expectations, and everything seemed new again.

The old Tropicale, now Peace Boat, is heading to the scrap yard in India.
Is there more than one? The old Home Lines Oceanic was also a Peace Boat, after being a BIG RED BOAT. Ran into her in Manhattan.

I guess I kind of got lost when you were talking about masking and boarding... just so everyone is clear, if there is testing pier side in the future, and someone tests positive, they will be denied boarding and get a full credit.
Masking their illness. Not WEARING a mask.

Except that won’t be the case.
We are talking history. Not the future.

Passengers on Carnival are one of many reasons why recently we have only cruised and booked cruises on RCI and Celebrity. While overall my wife and I enjoyed our 30 plus cruises on Carnival, we both agree we prefer the experience on RCI and Celebrity now.SO agree. And was SO impressed with Celebrity. I heard it was all about the food, and DAMN! IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE FOOD!

It will be YEARS before California allows cruising. Have they allowed people on the sand yet at the public beaches?

And when the cruise lines had those health pre-boarding checks, how many people lied on them?
PROBABLY ALL, CAUSE THERE'S NO POSSIBILITY FOR A REFUND, SO THEY MASK AND BOARD.

Couple more moves and they can have dual inaugural’s on the Mardi Gras and Celebration
The smart move would be to shelve the Celebration.

I vote with “no vaccine, no cruise!” I don’t believe that the cruise lines will risk people that do not have a vaccination certificate and I won’t either.
Why stop there? All should be tested for flu, noro, and even the common cold. Maybe even warts.

To be fair, I was a on a cruise in mid-March without masks or vaccines. To our knowledge, nothing happened.
But I agree, the press can't wait to find people with COVID on ship.
It will be the press that keeps cruising from ever becoming normal again.

Somehow, news of this ship completely escaped me. I find it odd rolling out the same names of old ships. I have to look, but isn't the original Celebration still sailing as the Grand Celebration?
I guess she is also a sister ship to the Mardi Gras, without the benefit of any fixes being she hasn't rolled out yet.- 1

All the Mardi Gras cruises for Feb-Mar are gone. For April, it only shows the 24th.
It sure looks like the inaugural cruise might have been changed again from 2/6/21 to 4/24/21
Has anyone heard anything?
This might actually be a good thing. Inaugural cruises are pretty rough, and hardly go as planned.
Same thing for return to service of wet and dry docks. I wouldn't be caught dead on one again. -
Only ship I never made it to for a blizzard.
Carnival was kind enough to offer us a replacement cruise on the "new" Ecstasy, with an upgrade.- 1

I've said this since day 1! We have a cruise booked for Nov 23rd this yr, we keep calling it the guinea pig cruise ! I'm all for it!!
As long as you have the 2 week quarantine time to take off should the ship be forced to have one. -
Who would even volunteer to be a guinea pig in this experiment. At his own expense! They better extend those piers at those private islands.

As of now, we are not welcome to Hawaii. A mandatory 14 quarantine is in order.
That's what I was thinking. And how sucky would that be sailing across the Pacific of 5 1/2 days and have to turn around somewhere in between.
Hawaii remains one of our favorite cruises. The fare wasn't bad either....1058 PP for 12 days. -

I have no idea why the look for the new ship yard to complete the transformation, but Carnival is def not declaring bankruptcy in the next year. Take that to the bank
Word on the street is, if they don't start sailing by November, bankruptcy is imminent.
Can Carnival have a few sailings just for those who have been Vaccinated?
