Our iPhones will normally send and receive text messages while attached to the ship's wifi but not using internet plan minutes. Many here have reported the same. That said, every cruise seems to have times when NCL's wifi breaks down and won't do anything for a while.

Wow if they gave any cruiser over 55 (or even 65) a discount, they wouldn't make any money!😁
Sure they would. They would give a 5% discount and then raise fares by 5.263157894736842%.

Now try explaining fixed and variable cost to everyone and the implications of each. I bet very few will get it
Really? Just about anybody who went to college took economics 101. You're not the only educated person on this forum.

Boglehead here! Has served me well.
And if I’m on a ship, it’s in a balcony! Tried an inside room and a porthole room once each. The next 40+ cruises have all been balconies. To each his own! Bon Voyage 😎😎Good for you. Bogleheads is on the supply side. The rest is up to you. 😎

On side of the menu stays the same each evening and the other side will have a different menu each evening.
No. The bottom of one side and the middle of the other side will have the same each evening. The appetizers and the rotating entrees will be different.

Probably best to just bring your guitar on board.🤣

I don’t want to listen to rap, or Taylor Swift while I’m trying to relax.
I don't want to listen to either of those ever.

My stock, my credit.
What if your cabin-mate also owns 100 shares of NCLH?

It forces me to get out and about the ship and sit out on deck watching the ocean just like on my own balcony but for far less.
Some don't need to be forced. The last thing they want to do is to sit on their cabin's balcony and miss the fun of being on the ship.

We did it once. It was free for two of us. It was worth about that. You may see more wildlife on the bus....

This isn't necessarily true. If you're traveling with a friend and not a spouse it actually matters if the OBC is split. I bought the shares and shouldn't have to share the credit.
If a good friend was paying half the cost of my cabin, I will gladly share half of my itchy-and-scratchy bucks with them. If I don't like them that much, I'm not sailing with them. In fact, if my name is first on the reservation and we take a Shorex together, I'm going to pay them $25 to offset my discount.

Meet up at a bar on the ship?

Serving portions are smaller as a whole
Why are serving portions even in the equation? If you're still hungry, order more. Same price!

I usually eat at the buffet a few times for lunch. The pizza did not seem quite as good as remember from past sailings (I know........ minor grip) but maybe it is just faulty memory on my part.
I got off the Spirit last Wednesday. The pizza in the buffet was the best I've had on NCL. They've gone to a slightly thicker crust that actually has some flavor.😎 Also, the "noodle soup station" (or whatever they call it) was great. They had a lot of good stuff. If I want a good burger, I go to the local or MDR. I sometimes get soup and salad at the buffet before joining DW and DD at the MDR for lunch. They like to get off the ship and shop and I like to stay on the ship and eat/drink/chill/gamble. win-win!

Thanks all. Interestingly it appeared as a $50/$50 on each of sides of the reservation. You would think that it would show as a single $100 credit to me since my wife is not on my IRA account!

It makes absolutely no difference how it is assigned.

Guilty as charged on the PSA on getting a good financial advisor.
There is a very well accepted saying on that major investing forum.
"Once you know enough to select a good financial advisor, you no longer need them"
This is VERY true.

I don't tip the Concierge or Butler a dime!! I do tip the Steward if the service is good. Not as much as others do (or claim to do), but I don't stiff them. I do tip the persons who prepare and bring me drinks, because they make me happy and I want them to be happy too.😎

But the more we cruise, the more I've decided that not having a bunk bed directly over my head is worth an added cost.
If you book early, you can book an inside that doesn't have pullman beds hanging off the wall. Otherwise, just have the steward separate the beds.

But…the cuts are noticeable.
Fortunately, a Guinness is still a Guinness, and they were at almost every bar on the 16 day itinerary I disembarked last week. 😎 A few ran out temporarily, but I may have had something to do with that.... No worries, I just ordered a Blue Moon.🐀

Either way it seems like there is nothing to worry about, and once you're onboard the first drink will definitely make you forget about any photo issues that might have happened earlier... 🙂
Works for me! Of course, I'm in the minority who couldn't care less if they want to retake my photo. I'm about to get on a cruise ship! Ain't nothin bringing me down.😎
Perhaps the problem occurs most with those who don't drink?

The only downside is that the entire meal arrives at once so the entree can cool while you’re enjoying the early courses but it’s still a fantastic experience.
That sounds like a huge downside.

After a few days of eating constantly, I really don't care what's for dinner. If what the MDR serves me is crap, I'll just grab something at the local. No worries. Breakfast is only a few hours away...
