  1. I can't seem to get the "Search" function to work without getting a ton of stuff not related to the questions I searched for.

Can I still order ANY MDR item through Room Service at the beginning of MDR hours?

Do the Flat Screen TV's have DVD players in the Balcony cabins, if so, can I bring my own DVD's?

Thanks, I used to be able to use "search", guess I'm getting dumb in my old age.

  2. I was assigned cabin 9240 as a guarantee mini suite balcony on the Getaway.....it is above the Sugarcane lounge on deck 8....EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC (no exaggeration!!) every night between 8PM, and Midnight....also occasionally earlier in the eve. Only one night they had just a piano player, and could barely hear that. There was no noise from neighboring cabins, but noise from below is unbearable at night.

  3. I don't normally read the "5 star", the "1 Star", or no rating reviews, as they're usually biased. Everybody has different opinions, and some may even see and recall their cruise through the fog of being a bit tipsy, for most of the cruise....and having a total party experience.....and that's okay....that's their right, and I respect that.

I have cruised many times, on many lines, mostly to relax, and be entertained. Some have exceeded my expectations, others have disappointed me.

I feel first time cruisers are awed by the newness of the first cruise experience...and it is great....first time usually is, I remember my "firsts", many years ago were great.

I want to hear the "good, the bad, and the ugly"....so I can compare.

The cruise product has lessened over the years, as the price point has stayed relatively the same......something had to change, and it appears to be the product. Unpleasant "surprises" will put a damper on things....just as "pleasant" ones will affect the review.

For me, there is nothing like sitting on the balcony in the morning with a pot of room service delivered coffee, and watching the ocean go by....to me that makes it all worthwhile......but when I write a review, I still report all of what I experienced.

  4. I've been around CC for awhile, and finally got to read all these posts.

I really enjoyed learning about fellow CCer's. I have met members on many cruises......great group of people here!!

For those cancer survivors....good for you, and I wish you a long happy cancer free life. Many of you have lost loved ones, and you have my condolences. For the many divorced.....well, I'm one of you...been divorced since 76.

About me....65, divorced, introverted, guy. With a great sense of humor. I luckily retired at when I turned 50. I had custody of, and raised my 2 kids, who now have families of their own. I've been on many, many cruises, and cruise lines since the late 70's...with the kids, and family, but have been cruising solo for the last 15, or so years. I do my best to do at least 2 cruises a year. I live in the Tampa FL area, and drive to the ports. I have done a TA, and gone to the Panama Canal, but not through it....yet. I did a two week from SD, CA to Hawaii.....but I really hate doing the airport thing.

I have to admit that only a balcony will do, and I love having the cabin to myself. I go to the MDR when I want to, or the buffet works for me too, as I'm not too fussy about food. I Love the entertainment, and have done solo port tours.

I'm looking forward to following this post, and hearing more from new posters, their lives, and cruising adventures.

Oh, by the way, GTVCRUISER....love your pics....but please save a few cruises for the rest of us.....Yes, I am envious of all your voyages! :D

  5. In FL it just has a registration number on it. No name, no DOB. Just wondering if they require extra documentation if it doesn't have a name on it.

FL issues a registration card with the hanging HP placard which has the owners name, and duplicate information as on a vehicle registration card.

They will check...they also require proof of cruise.....I had to leave a Sign, and Sail card once because I didn't have proof (ticket) of sailing handy.

Larry'sLady....parking is free in all Miami City owned lots for Handicap people with proper tags, or placards.

  6. On RCCL, all suites are not created equal. I booked a Grand Suite for a 14 day Trans Atlantic on the Grandeur of the Seas. There is no concierge lounge on the Grandeur, thus those perks (and they are many) are not replaced. I was not allowed to attend the Diamond Happy hour, as a substitute, either. The room service breakfast was also lacking as they would only allow the "daily egg specialty".....found that out when I tried to get eggs benedict, and was refused....every morning, and told what the "special" was. I was really disappointed in the Grandeur Suite program, and perks. Just do your homework....not all ships have all perks.
