I hear ya...I didn't see sale prices either on the app...only on board pricing

I just got off the phone with someone else - they won't honor any of the sale prices now - they said there was an internal system glitch and the only price they can honor now is $72.99/day.  They recommended people who weren't able to book at that price continue checking the site for Black Friday sales over the next few days (wait - that isn't what their email said!).  Bad business practices from RC - pretty disappointed from a cruiser who normally LOVES Royal.

  2. I'm so disappointed in RC - I've been trying for hours to book a beverage package and am getting the same error others have mentioned.  I've tried accessing on the app, but the price is still showing at $72.99/day (not the sale price they are advertising).  I called the helpline and left my number for a return call.  I also tried calling Crown and Anchor and spoke with someone, but the only price they could see was $72.99/day.

I always brag about RC and have had so many of our friends sail with us in the past - but recent dealings have left me underwhelmed.  Very disappointing and frustrating. They need to do better if they want to maintain their "Loyal to Royal" cruisers.  There are certainly other lines that are MUCH easier to get in touch with.

3kidsncats - you take fantastic pictures!  Wishing you and everyone else a smooth and sunny sailing!

I have to take a moment to give major kudos to those that manage to keep a regular and complete posting of each day as they go- It is really an accomplishment of time management.

We squeezed in muster, drinks at champagne bar, change of clothes, canapes and drinks at suite lounge, 5:30 dinner at chops (beef carpaccior is wonderful), early sailaway (8 pm instead of 9), sailaway dancing  and drinking (goombay smash and tequila shots), unpacking and packing a day bag for tomorrow..dang I'm tired!  Staff as reported are amazing --

The absolute best service we've ever had.  Off to sleep and a perfect day tomorrow

A couple pieces of advice....first of all try to get some lunch on the Lido Deck if you have anytime at all because I didn't have a chance to get a bite at the reception...it just goes so fast...also, I asked the groomsmen and the groom to not wear their shirts and ties to lunch before the wedding (my husband is famous for spilling, you can't take him anywhere (just one the quirks that makes me love him even more) and I didn't want food on their shirts and ties for wedding pictures. Also, my daughter and step daughter (my matrons of honor) put on their dresses after they got on board as well, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have spilled, but I just felt better about it.

I know it has been mentioned before, but my daughter's college roommate did my hair (she doesn't have a mother, so we sort of "adopted her") and she followed us to my stateroom while we got dressed and stayed with me when everybody else had to leave for the rehearsal, to keep me company and do touch ups after I got dressed, so I wouldn't freak out. It was also nice that she and I had a chance to pray together before the wedding.

The most important thing is to have fun, and don't let the details stress you out, it will be beautiful and you will likely be the only one who will know the little things didn't happen as you planned.

Also, I am a retired teacher so I probably go a little overboard on planning stuff, but I put together a 10 page "Welcome Letter" with a schedule and everything. I also wrote out our entire wedding outline and script including our vows. I'd be happy to share with anybody who wants to see.

Oh one more thing, we had a friend as our officient, she got ordained to do my daughter's wedding in April and since she was coming along on the cruise anyway we asked her to do our wedding, so we were able to have a quick "rehearsal" at the hotel the night before. We ran through the entire thing so we could time it, to make sure we were under the time limits.

I'm not sure if ImaginationCruiseBride still checks on this site, but I'd also appreciate the welcome letter!  My address is ginger.betson@gmail.com.  Thank you in advance!

Did you receive the update RCCL promised for today? We are on the May 12th sailing and anxious to hear. Thanks!

I haven’t yet, but their other emails have come late in the day so I’m not concerned.  I’m not a mind reader or a fortune teller, but I do have stake in the game - I’m on the May 5th sailing.  I still feel very positive that it’s a go for us, with or without the Aqua Theater.  Some people tell me I’m a “Pollyanna”, but that’s ok, I’m trying to focus on the positive.  If we cruise without the AT, I’m ok with that too - we will still be on a cruise!  🙂

I am on the April 14th NCL Breakaway out of Miami.  On Monday I was confident a low upgrade bid might be accepted as the ship looked like there were many open cabins.  On Tuesday a dummy booking showed all sold out.  This morning it is showing about 4 spa balconies open at triple the price from Monday.  So much for an upgrade bid and not so full ship, but glad if some of these Oasis passengers can still get in their vacation from Miami.  Just interesting the change in 1 day and the ripple effect.

In the big scheme, I know the cruise industry is a business and they are in business to make money....but shame on NCL for clearly increasing their costs (and significantly!) due to the misfortune of others.  I am happy to hear some displaced Oasis cruisers may have been able to quickly rebook - but geesh, an increase like that is hard to swallow.  Hope you enjoy your cruise, I've heard that Breakaway is beautiful!

That would include the TA. We are booked on the first sailing out of Barcelona on May 5th. My fingers are crossed.

We are also on the May 5th sailing....fingers crossed!  We are flying from the DC area to Barcelona on May 2nd-3rd....my biggest fear would be RC cancelling as we get closer to the sail date and then we wouldn't have enough time to re-book anything for that week.  But I'm going to try and maintain only positive thoughts.  I definitely can't complain - I feel absolutely terrible for the people who've had their cruises cancelled 😞

June sailings are thankfully 2 months away but I would be very worried if I were on one of the earlier May sailings in Europe too. I see the first May sailing is on May 5th, and I don't know if they can repair it in time and send the ship across the pond.

I'm supposed to be on the May 5th sailing out of Barcelona 😱  Keeping my fingers crossed Lady O is ready to go by then - even if she has a few dings and cosmetic injuries, I'd still love to sail on her.  She's a great ship!

  9. Closing another wonderful review - thank you for all of your time, information and humor!  And even more meaningful, the beautiful tribute to Jim/Trainman.  He would be so flattered....

I will be sailing on Lady O when you are on Lady A - but I can guarantee that I will read every post as soon as I get back home!  Will you post a link to your new review here?

  10. Wow....so many initial thoughts, and you haven't left yet!

    1.  The fact that you have dedicated this to Trainman is overwhelmingly touching.  It brought a tear to my eyes.  So many of us followed him throughout the years, the passing of his wife, his cruises, his good fortune of meeting and marrying Judith, his move to the country and his love for his country and animals.  It's apparent that you were a friend/fan also.  Thank you - and can't wait to see a Trainman sandwich!

    2.  I love all of your reviews, I'm so excited to follow along.  I love your sense of humor - and this will help carry me through until my next cruise.  I actually got a little giddy when I saw your announcement on your last review (look of embarrassment).

    3.  We are going on our first Mediterranean cruise on Oasis in May, the same dates you are going on your May cruise.  That means I will have to do massive catching up when I return 😉

    4.  Thanks in advance for all you're about to do for those of us following along - safe travels, smooth sailing and many happy liquid refreshments!

Thanks for following along and glad you are all caught up.

Check our my signature as there are some other really old “Lives” from Allure of the seas and a few on some Carnival ships.

I’ll be sure to post in here once I begin my “Live” Symphony of the seas in February.

Thanks so much!  I've read a few of your other reviews but unfortunately missed the last one.  I will definitely be reading for enjoyment 🙂

  12. Thanks so much for taking us along - what a great break from my normal work week!  Loved your sense of humor and outlook, and already looking forward to the next review.  Any chance you'll post here when you start your new review?  At least then we can be notified so we can follow along again.

Now I'm going to go back and read your previous review which I unfortunately missed when it was live!

  13. I'm late to the show....but here with bells on and oh so excited.  I've followed your reviews before and lets just say that I loved them 😉  Apparently I missed the last two, so that will be my light reading for the upcoming weekend.  But back to this cruise - I'm now caught up and I have to say how much I enjoy your reviews.  Not only because they are informative - but they make me laugh!  We have the exact same sense of humor.  As I was reading through this over lunch - I literally laughed out loud a few times.  My eyes may have even gotten a little moist 😁  I'm booked for my first Mediterranean cruise next May on Lady O - I think we are the first full cruise after dry dock.  I've been on Oasis, Allure and Harmony before and can't wait to come back "home".  Until then, I will live vicariously and comically through you.  Thanks in advance and keep up the humor!!
