We have 3 weeks booked for March 23. I agree about 7 night cruises far too short, for any ship. Unless they are B to B. 🙂

We have booked a week in May 7th- 14th just to see what she is like. We have also booked the Maiden on Arvia in the suite we should have had for the original Iona Maiden. Look forward to hearing what you think of her. Hope you are both keeping well. Stay safe.

Just to clarify how pre-registration works for TA’s as compared with P&O.

For each grade on each ship P&O agree with the TA’s how many cabins they can each sell. Say for example 50/50.

    They then take their pre-registrations.
For cabin type ‘X’ there are 20 available 10 for all TA’s 10 for the company. The company will take up to 10 bookings. When they are up to that number they put up the full notice.

TA’s take their bookings but cannot guarantee that they will get a cabin.

on the morning of the bookings opening TA’s have a period of time to claim  one of the cabins allocated to all TA’s. They can book specific cabins. When the bookings reach 10 the computer says full. At this point the company comes in and books there allocation. So booking with P&O guarantees a booking but not a cabin. Now for the vast majority of bookings it does not matter as there are plenty of cruises/cabins.
Problems come with maiden voyages, Christmas/New Year cruises or one off cruises. Also suites/adapted cabins.

Clearly if you are in a high tier you are in a much better position.

Great to hear from you Dai. Hope you are keeping fit and well. Just got confirmation of Arvia Maiden voyage. Really pleased as we had book original Iona Maiden. Long way away but nice to have something to look forward to. Cheers!

Again, sorry to sound like the voice of doom, but I would think the exact opposite would be the case. As they will be trying to impress all the trade press, travel agents etc (especially given a lot of the negative pre PR about Iona from a lot of regular cruisers), I would be absolutely staggered if they didn’t start their cabin allocations for the ‘shake down cruises’ with suites and work down. When I have seen reviews of new ships they are often suites. Also, they will want to make damned sure that those guests paying top dollar get a good first impression, so will want to have ‘snagged’ suites as a priority. To end with a positive, at least if we all get quarantined you will have more walls to climb! 😉

I think if they want to showcase any particular cabins it may be the conservatory suites as this is a new concept.

Bit slow there Jean we booked a back to back on Iona when the cruises came out. They have gone up since then. Grabbed a suite, they all went very quickly.

    🙂

    Hi Dai, How are you?

Which suite have you booked on Iona for 2021, if you don't mind me asking?

    Cheers Elaine

There is also information about Barcelona and Valencia and Gibraltar and also mentions of late stays and overnights. This is on a blog site. So I think more than the two. But anything is better that the bus service in Norway.

I think we may be booking something on her.

We are on her for the Maiden Voyage  Dai...…..Did not think we would, but realised you have to try the big one!!

Thanks for providing the pictures. Good to see that progress is being made even though there is nothing we can do to ensure that it is completed by May 2020. Still a long way off but the excitement for the maiden cruise is building with every update.

Fingers crossed for May. Looking forward to trying this big ship!

Hi Bal, yes we have one, eventually. They have had a major distribution problem or the firm they use had. I don’t think they know who has had one or not. I rang customer service and choose the complaints option. Spoke to a nice lady who had one sent out.

Thanks for this. I haven't got the Moments magazine.  Who does it say the cruise director is on the Ventura after May and also on the Azura at the monent and then rest of year please?

There is no information for after 5 May on Ventura.

James Charter is on Azura from26 Nov -11 Jan

Giovanni Charps is on Azura  from 11 Jan - 26 Mar.

No further information available after those dates.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

I know it needs a shake up, but the cruise director definitely makes a difference.  We went on the Britannia and that seemed better than the other ships.  Just wondering who cruise director is on the Ventura, Oceana and Oriana at the moment as they are the ships we are looking at?

According to the Moments  magazine  Oriana has Elaine Hussey 9Dec-10 Feb  , Hugh Taylor 10Feb - 11 May.  Ventura has Alexander Percival 7Nov - 4 Jan , Natalie Milverton 4Jan - 5 May. Oceana has Christopher Reynolds 4 Oct - 10 Jan  and Leon De St Croix from  10 Jan - 4 Apr.

None of this is written in stone because changes can happen  from when the magazine was published. Hope this helps.

  11. I like 28 nights as you can really relax.

I once did a 49 night trip round South America and it was one of the best trips I have done. We finished in San Francisco and I could have walked round to embarkation and done it all again....Fabulous!

I hope you thoroughly enjoy the 28 nights!

  12. I think if they had to go to Norway for the fuel they could have varied the itineraries slightly. I would like to go but we are doing the same cruise in 2019. I'm mulling at the moment.

By the way the maiden is now sold out so you did well to get in quick.

How can the maiden be sold out when it only goes on sale for the upper tiers on Monday or so I believe?

Thank you Josy ...you answered my question.

  13. That is fantastic news. I am so pleased you have managed to get a satisfactory outcome. What a relief that must be to you.

Well done to your TA for persevering and thank you P&O for helping this family.

    Thinking of you all.

Just to thank everyone for their support and help that I received on this thread . After quite a few anxious days between telephone calls and e-mails to P&O and with the assistance from my TA (who stepped in and took over completely) my TA received an e-mail earlier today informing her that P&O had relooked at my original request and overturned their decision are now allowing me to transfer our Azura Cruise from November 2018 for 12 months. Our son will now rebook this cruise for November 2019.

Our spirits have been lifted up a bit and thank P&O for showing compassion towards us and we greatly appreciate the effort that they made to accommodate our request.

Without the help, support and advice from everyone on this thread we were ready just to give up, but because of all of your help we pursued the issue further. Thank you all for the compassion that you have shown to myself and my family throughout this very difficult time for us. Myself and my family sincerely thank you all and our sincere best wishes go out to all of you.

    Regards Pat
