OK - thanks for that

Hi - we will be sailing on the EDGE around New Zealand from Sydney and because we were slow off the mark booking possible excursions (we have booked everything else we need) we will probably have a lot of on board credit left over at the end of the cruise. We know that it will be a case of "use it - or lose it" but I remember that it may be possible, by using an amount in the casino, then cashing in whats left on your account ?
Do you guys know of something like this - and how do you do it ?
Many thanks

Thanks for that - looking at the map we think an UBER might be the way to go.

I agree with using taxi In Singapore.
Uber hasn't operated in Singapore since 2018 as they sold their business interest there to Grab. I have that App but haven't used it for a few years.
Thats good to know - thanks for that info

Hi Everybody
First of all let me say many thanks to everyone that gave us your help on our "things to do" post a couple of weeks back - much appreciated.
Can you help us again please ?
Your suggestions for return transport (uber/taxi - shuttle or transfer) from the three airports we will be using :-
Singapore Changi to the Clarke quay area Sydney Kingsford to the Rocks area Auckland International to the central Queen street area
Open to your ideas !
Many thanks

Thank you all for your advice - we are busy looking through all of your suggestions.
I think we need another week !

YARRAMAR - can I ask - if we visit the Blue Mountains during February and do the hop on hop off bus tour amongst other things - would we need to pack warmer clothes other than the usual summer clothes ?
-
YARRAMAR - Thanks again for your answer - we will look into all your suggestions - Many thanks

Many thanks for that. So are you saying that the HOHO buses do not operate now ? Do you know the cost of the Sydney Greeter option ?
The Blue mountains seem to be very popular - is taking the train an easy thing to do from the Rocks area (hotel) and can we take something like a bike ride once we get there?
Thanks again
-
OK Greg - thanks very much for that - we will take a look at all your recommendations and book accordingly - cheers

LADIES & GENTS - The two of us will be taking a 11 day Celebrity Edge cruise from Sydney to Auckland in February and we haven't booked any excursions as yet and have noticed it appears too late to book any Celebrity ones (OK - our fault)
Our major consideration is what we can do in the 3 days we have in Sydney pre-cruise and the 3 days we have in Auckland post cruise and we will try and sort out the other ports of call ourselves - so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Are taxis easy to get from Turtle Beach back to the ferry?

Hi
We are on Symphony in a couple of weeks and would like to take a trip to TRUNK BAY from St THOMAS. I know there is an excursion available - but its $79.00 just for four hrs and it doesnt seem good value when we would like to spend more time there.
BUT . . . I have heard just recently that there is a great reluctance for taxi drivers to take you there from the ferry terminal in St JOHNS.
Has anybody experienced this? If we do get there, dont want to get stranded with no taxis to get us back.
Many thanks

I just did the Chef's Table on the Regal at Christmas. I have done the Chef's table maybe 6-7 times previously. Given whatever the issues are with food quality/supply and perhaps the staff (galley), it was not great. It was really disappointing compared with previous experiences. I have never been served poorly prepared dishes before at the Chef's Table and that did happen on this occasion. I think everybody cruising right now needs to be prepared for things to be not quite right. Service is running a notch or more above par and the passenger load is very low which makes things quite comfortable, which makes up for problems in the food and beverage department. The experience we're getting right now onboard, in my opinion, is "Princess Lite." I would not recommend spending the $$ on this. Oh, I just remembered, they were also quite stingy with the wine, too, which has never happened before either.
OK Chris - many thanks for that insight. Thinking about it I wouldnt mind the actual Chefs Table meal - but I`m not really interested in the galley tour - so I will decide later.

Oh - ok - so what would be the average cost of a meal in the Crown Grill?
-
So you can not buy a package (as per Royal Caribbean) ?
-
Hi Everybody
We haven`t cruised with Princess for quite some time so would like to know about the possibility of purchasing a dinning package for our 12 day Canaries Emerald cruise in October.
First of all - are dinning packages available and how do you buy them? Are they unlimited or only so many visits? Can you book in advance or do you have to wait until you are on the ship?
Any info on this subject would be most helpfull.
Many thanks

Things are not good in Bali atm. There was an item on the telly last night showing deserted streets, boarded up shops. Empty, ransacked hotels. They are trying to get local tourism going for Indonesians.
Oh dear - hope things will get better in 15 months time - if we decide to go there. Thanks for your comments.

I went to Bali about 10 years ago and loved it. So beautiful and interesting. Trust me, Bali is NOTHING like Spain. My opinion - go for it.
Interesting to see your comment YORKI1 - I was hoping someone might come up with something positive - just in case we can`t make up our minds . . .

I went to Singapore in February and did it to death. Are you on Facebook? If you are I’m happy for you to look at my posts as I documented it all there rather than write it all again. I went to all the high lights and happy to give you more information. Let me know and I’ll give you the details. My brother went to Bali last year and went somewhere away from the tourist areas and loved it and I can find out where that was too if you like. I haven’t been to Cook Islands. I was supposed to go in June but I’ve only heard good things.
Thanks Suzbluz - may I take you up on your offer please? P.M. me on Facebook if its easier

OK Everyone - many thanks for the replies, So this typical UK guys winter (February) thoughts about a distant, idyllic, tropical paradise may not be true? (although the web-site photos of the hotel that has been suggested to us by our possible travel agent looks superb) but it maybe not all it seems to be?
I looked on the Singapore Airlines web-site and they are not posting any relevant flights/stop overs at the present time due to Covide restrictions. Do they provide stop over hotels as well as flights?
Regarding the Cook Islands - is it true to say then, that they would be a better choice than Bali from the tropical paradise/beautiful beaches point of view maybe?
Are the flights times better than SYD-BALI or any more direct flying back to the U.K?
Thanks again

UNUSED OBC

So - convert all the OBC into chips - gamble an amount - then cash in the remaining chips ? Is that what you do ? Thanks
