  1. Ncl has an app for about $10 for a 7 day cruise where you can text others while onboard.

Really NCL didn't inform me about that when I asked the question for an interpreter for Epic cruise in Europe.. they don't do it

I wonder if only based in USA can provdes us an interpreter?

    Scottishwee35

  2. I had two an interpreters on Freedom of the Seas as both from different place. They didn't know that we are from UK, as our sign languages are slight different as we used BSL...However, we enjoyed it as we used ASL with Disney Cruise too.

For you that who had C.I. were you born hearing? or anyone profoundly deaf worn C.I?

My hearing is going down lot and C.I. offered me and I still not sure about it.

My daughter was born with profoundly deaf and have no hearing at all. She had C.I. when she was 2 half and she said it was best ever. She thank us for giving her opportunity and she pick up lot and talking clear too.

I still not sure about myself for C.I.

  3. Venice is so beautiful place and we all love it and 2 nights was not enough. My son (16) thought that the place was so beautiful and he said if he have a girlfriend and he will take her to Venice. Oh bless him. We enjoyed it so much and beautiful weather. We went up ( I forgot what name) at Marks Square and we saw beautiful view of Venice. I took lots of photo.

My husband and I will go back again to see more church and museum...

We enjoyed sailed with Splendour of the Seas and watch Venice. I think it was best ever....

  4. Hello

We stayed at Venice for 2 nights and it was so awesome. We all loved it very much.

    About Splendour of the seas....

When we sailed from Venice and it was so beautiful to watch the Venice, so romance... My husband gave me glass of champagne while to watched it.

My teenagers, husband and I enjoyed it and we were with deaf group of Passage Deaf Travel who organised by USA, We met Australia, Canada, USA, Ireland and 4 of us Scotland.

We had a great times with them and 13 ASL interpreter plus 2 international interpreters for us, Ireland and Australia.

We enjoyed it but we think food was not very good... Teenagers didn't like salty swimming pool but they still had the fun with the group. We are only family in this group as no one bring the kids along... but Canadian bring two older girls aged 18 and 19 friendly with our teenagers.

But they were disappointed that no games hall like basketball etc but my son won the games at the teenager club. He got a lovely prize!!

About tips, we were not happy that they took off automatically every day and I had go to customer services explained that I brought dollars money with us for the tips so they sorted it out. It changed now as before normally on last day envelope handed out but not now.

Show was okay but we liked to watch acrobats and we did the fun games at the hall. We were 2nd with Australia team not bad...

We watched love and marriage games that was funny as two deaf group was involved.

There was white party at the pool while cruising at Greece. That was fun.

Weather was so hot, far too hot at Athens...

We had a nice weather so far no raining all the week. Cruise was smoothly but one night it was bit rough...

We enjoyed with the staff which did the funny games and watched the belly dive it was funny.

We met Irish two couples and we keep touch with them as they were good company with us.

On last day, our teenagers find out that we booked with Disney cruise and they were so happy with it.

they said they prefer Freedom of the Seas than Splendour of the Seas. Nothing wrong with Splendour but I love it but disappointed with foods.

We had the balcony and it was on 7th floor and it was great...good size of the room and we had the fridge!! But it was filled up with coke, lemonda and big bottle of water. It was quite expensive but I need lots of water. I put my bottle of champagne lol:)

Thank to Passages Deaf Travel for their hard work and we all enjoyed it as it was our first times with them. We highly commend that we will the cruise with them in future.:)

  5. I pre-paid for the unlimited package before my recent cruise on Radiance of the Seas. I paid $249.95.

My adult son was supposed to travel with me and the last time we cruised together I spent well over $200 on pix. At the last minute he was unable to go so I made the cruise solo. I debated backing out of the package but decided to keep it.

On the ship they were pushing the package at $299.95 discounted to $249.95! I told the first photographer that took my picture that I'd paid for the package and I was expecting them to take lots of pictures.:)

By the end of the cruise I had 35 photos in my file. Yes, some of them weren't that great and I probably wouldn't have purchased them; but most of them were good and I have plenty to share with my family. I definitely got my money's worth at roughly $7/per photo.

My table mates told me that they got it for 199 dollars but I went along and it was only start within 1 to 4 days special offer but I was too late but however I purchased 249 dollars for lots of pictures and one album as it was good for 4 of us.

  6. We are in Venice and its so beautiful and don't think we have enough times as wish spend more times. However, we are off to cruise tomorrow. We will go to people mover as not far from our hotel. People mover just like tram go to nearby cruise port only cost 1 euro each!!

  7. After all our vacation voyeuring, I just wanted to see "it."

The elusive Promenade. So beautiful in photos, would it really measure up?

    100_1740_zps55ded3cd.jpg

This was our first view. We entered the ship on Deck 4 port side, right through the photo gallery. I spotted the stairs and said, "Let's go see the Promenade!"

PapPap's first words, "Isn't there an elevator?" to which Jeff replied, "It's one level up, deal with it."

This would be a common conversation throughout the cruise.....

    DSC_0020_zps6757cece.jpg

It was love at first sight. I mean, Vintages, Bull and Bear Pub, and yeah, some other places that did not serve booze, but I'm cruising with my inlaws, cut me some slack!!!!

In my three previous cruises, the entry was gorgeous, DCL has beautiful atriums, and you are announced BY NAME like you are celebrities.....

But this. Nothing prepared me for the Promenade.

After walking the Promenade, we let Ally direct us up to Windjammer for lunch and our first Drink of the Day!!!!! Only $6.95 and the souvenier glass is actually GLASS, as opposed to plastic. RCCL you just keep wowing me!

I will give DCL credit for their "bring your own alcohol" policy. Very liberal, to say the least. If you can haul it on board, it's yours. In the past we've taken wine, rum (to make rum and cokes with the self serve soda machines), and even some fruity liquors. RCCL allows 2 bottles of wine per stateroom and that's it.

And remember, no water either. Although I think Nana and PapPap are still fighting that. In fact, I think they were at guest services fighting immediately after lunch, while we were checking out or luxury digs for the next week!

We thought we were so cool, because our room was highlighted on the touchscreen off the elevators...

    There we are, in 1400!

We were on 1700 on April 2011:o What a big room with pole also huge balcony too...

  8. Subbing...

We love Disney, and the two Disney cruises we've taken. But, we also had a really great time Mariner of the Seas a few months ago. So much that we booked the Freedom for February 2014. I'm excited about that trip, especially since we are going with friends. However, I am even more thrilled about our next Disney cruise.

bottom line, I am incredibly thankful for having the opportunity to cruise at all!

Oh, Hi Scottishwee! I recognize you from that other message board....we are on the Disney WBTA with you next fall.

    Hi Youalleverybody

Y will enjoy Freedom of the Seas...and cannot wait about Disney WBTA...;)

    Scottishwe35;)

  9. Let me begin by saying that my husband pointed out, the night before our cruise sailed, "OMG, this is my first non-Disney family trip in SIX YEARS!" He was almost in tears he was so happy.....

But we were also nervous. See, we know Disney. We know Disney service. And we know they kick butt, in the parks, and on their ships.

So would our first non-Disney cruise, this time on RCCL Freedom of the Seas, be able to live up to Disney standards?

Read on, young grasshopper, and let me give you a taste of FREEDOM!!!!

We are a family of 3 from South Carolina. We discovered cruising just 2 years ago when I booked a 7 night cruise on the Disney Magic after my husband said, "Can we please take a vacation NOT to Disney World?" So I said, "Sure! How bout a Disney cruise!!!!

He obliged, and we fell in love. But were we in love with cruising? Or Disney cruising? So we took another DCL cruise the next year, and then decided to find out for sure.

So we googled. We youtubed. We safari'd. We were basically vacation voyeurs. We wanted to check out all the cruise lines, all the ships and find one that we thought would come close to Disney so that we could experience cruising from another standpoint.

    So we picked Freedom.

Why? Well, just look at the pics! It looks beautiful! It seems close to Disney in reviews. There is a lot to do. But is it too big? Will the service be as good? Will our 12 year old daughter meet other kids?

So, first things first. We had to pick a date. Well, why not make it our 3rd spring break in a row! And while we're at it, maybe I'll invite my inlaws.....

Yeah, you read that right. But it was before the doctor medicated me..... if ya know what I mean...... lol

And they agreed!!!! See, my father in law has given my mother in law several cruises over the years for Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary gifts. Yet they've never been on a single cruise. Ever. So I figured this might be a way to actually then them out there!

We booked this cruise in October, 2011, so we had loooooooong 17 month wait.

And then before you know it, it's here. The car is packed. And we're ready to roll.......

Meet Ally, my mini-me, only 11 when we left the house, but she turned 12 the day we boarded the Freedom!!!

    DSC_0002_zps31ee122a.jpg

We really took the long way getting to the port this time. We have about an 8 hour drive, and with Disney leaving on Saturday, we usually head out about 4pm on Friday, get in about midnight, then we're dead on our feet the whole first day on the ship. But since Freedom leaves on Sunday, we decided to take our time. So we'd only drive 4 hours the first night, and stay in Savannah, GA so we'd only have about 4 leisurely hours on Saturday.

Now my inlaws left earlier in the day on Friday and decided to drive a bit further. But what should have been a 5 hour trip for them took almost 8 hours due to Spring Break and Easter traffic!!!! So our plan to leave at 5pm worked perfectly! Because our 4 hour trip took..... 4 hours!

No alarm needed the next morning as we got back on the road. Everyone woke up early because we were now officially on vacation!!!!

Traffic was heavy but we still made great time, and somehow passed my inlaws at their exit and about 1pm we saw THIS!

    DSC_0003_zps11e01033.jpg

This was our second time staying her and it's just perfect. Waking up the next morning to see your ship out the window, nice hot breakfast, shuttle service, clean rooms and nice pool. Our room was not ready just yet, so we hung outside and waited for Nana and PapPap to show up. They were only about 20 minutes behind us......

    Look who's here!

    DSC_0004_zpsae4f9e1b.jpg

I think Nana may have been the most excited out of all of us. I think their last vacation (not counting visiting family out of state) was in 2006. So they were ready to get away from it all!

Who knew they would find a way to EXTEND our vacation by a few days....

da da daaaaaaaa..... that's foreshadowing. Remember it.

We were all starving so decided to head over to Fishlips at the port to see the ships.

That's funny because after 4times with Disney Cruise and I always want cruise with Freedom of the Seas and we booked it for my special birthday, that was two years ago and we did same as you, we stayed same hotel also we went along to Fishlip to watch the cruise sailed too...

When we were on FOS, and I thought no not for me because it was huge ship then my husband took me for walk around and end of our last day, we enjoyed it and we love promenade and we asked our kids which one best Disney or RC. They said they love both....

We find foods was better than Disney but I think Magic is hand down as it is my favourite ship...

  10. Oh what a amazing story and love all the photos.

When I see photos of Rome, Sorrento, Amaifi Drive etc oh I have been there with Disney Cruise 2007.

  11. When was the last time you came to Singapore?

We are changing and evolving very quickly. Plenty more to do here these days, compared to even 3 years ago.

Here is our official tourism link -

    http://www.yoursingapore.com/content/traveller/en/experience.html

I hope you visit us again real soon! :)

My first visit was 1988 for three nights at Orchard Street, that was fab times and beautiful hotel Mandrain then flew to Australia to visited my cousin and visited Brisbane for Expo88.

then my husband and two kids went by 9 years ago with his in law but I was disappointed that we stayed in India area for 2 nights and Raffles hotel was changing too and not allowed men short in the hotel... Never mind but the weather was pour of raining that was April. We were hop on hop off bus and it was good but we came off to the park unfortunately the weather was heavy raining and thunder. We give it up and back to hotel... which was a great shame...

I must said that the Airport was so best in the world I have seen. Because the staff and people was so friendly and help us with luggages and make us very welcome. When we arrived Australia and it turn out different way.

My cousin live in Australia, visited Singapore few months ago and told me about new park and hotel etc.

I talked my husband few days ago that I would like go back to Singapore and Australia again hope ful one day maybe just two of us...

I was looking on Royal Caribbean and see that one cruise from Singapore to Australia and I quite fancy to do that go to Singapore for few days then cruise to Australia then visit families...hopeful do that one day

We drove around downtown Athens for a bit before ending up at a lunch spot near the Plaka. The restaurant was recommended by Nikos and we really enjoyed it. Once again, I ordered a chicken pita. I’d have to say the one in Mykonos was better, but you really can’t go wrong. After lunch, we strolled through the Plaka, did some souvenir shopping, then visited the Ancient Agora. The ruins were beautiful. I should make a note here about the weather – it was still behaving! No more rain after that early morning drizzle. After, we headed to the new Acropolis museum, but my husband and I decided to walk around the streets of Athens given that we only had an hour before we had to head back to the ship. We ordered some Greek coffee and wandered the streets. Our parents visited the museum and wished that they had more time to see everything because it’s pretty large. I would definitely say that our tour was go go go, not leisurely at all, but that’s exactly what we wanted. Most of us probably won’t get the opportunity to visit Athens again, so we’re very happy we got to soak in as much of the city as possible.

Nikos dropped us back off at the terminal around 4pm and the line to go through security was pretty insane. There were 4 other ships at port and they must have all had late afternoon departure times. Luckily we had until 5pm before the ship sailed away, but we saw a few groups that had to cut in front to avoid missing their ship.

All in all, we had an amazing day in Athens thanks to our tour with Nikos. For those of you that are interested, we paid 400 euros for our group of 8, plus tip. The tour started at 8am and ended around 4pm. We were driven around in a spacious Mercedes minibus that could probably hold 14 people.
