Didn't think of saying this in my earlier post, but there was a small dock on the opposite side away from the cruise ship dock. There were small boats like you use on a lake and I don't know if they were part of regent or private, didn't go an ask. But i guess they were part of a tour or like I said for the locals to get to and from the caye.

Actually it was very clean, I picked up so coral and some fan coral along with spiral shells. I enjoyed my time on the island, learning about the Mangroves and I got a sunburn in January. While my friends at home were slipping on ice and snow. I didn't mind paying for my Coconut. I didn't expect food and drinks for free.

I just came off Mariner in January. I wasn't overly impressed with Compass Rose. Before I retired I was a bread baker and cake decorator, I wasn't overly impressed with the rolls and bread served. It was dry and hard, I will agree with Travelcat about if you have a complaint to take it up with the lead waiter or manager. After three bad entrees, my friends twice and one of mine, on the first dinner she didn't get her salad. I wondered if the fact that I didn't order a salad they didn't bring hers, because they served the entree. The second night she got her salad but her entree was the Canyon Spa lobster was rubbery and tasteless. The third night my steak was overcooked. But I had seen it posted by others that they over cooked the steaks. But she complained to the manager and they started leaving a tiered Dessert sampler at the table through the rest of the cruise. This was my first luxury cruise but not at a luxury restaurant, I was not impressed with the service and we had a different one each night, they never asked us if we had a preference. If I had one real complaint it was the dry hard bread. But it was put in a warming tray and it might have been turned up too high. Prime 7 was more a Luxury restaurant than Compass Rose. The food was perfect and cooked the best. I wish we could have eaten there every night.

The only port I got off the ship. MY hip and knee were bothering me and I was given a cane by my roommate and was able to walk around Harvest Caye. My S&S card didn't work and neither did my roommates, we ended up paying for what we bought. One of the ladies said we were the first ship to come to the island. I had my first Coconut drink and it was fantastic and he cut out some of the fresh meat from the coconut for me. I got over heated so the Coconut water really got the job done. Just wish my S&S credits would have worked.

I should have listed the ports I am doing an excursion in Costa Maya, Harvest Cay Belize Roatan and Key West. Harvest Cay we have no excursions. I thought she was doing the sub thing. I have limited walking, I had to learn to walk again in 2013/2014 so I might have my cane, We are doing a Mayan Ruin in Costa Maya. I'll be the one bringing up the rear. I do not walk fast.:eek: But I am so looking forward to a smaller cruise ship and hope to meet other slow walkers along the way.

I am not doing any excursions in two ports. I might want to get off and see what is in the area around the port. Will it be safe for me going alone? My cruise mate is doing a submergible and I am claustrophobic, so I am not doing one that port. But i might want to get off and get postcards or see a church. I will be on the Mariner soon, got laundry to do before I pack.

I am now having to go out and buy clothes for this cruise or I'm eating in the room every night. I have dresss jeans in black and gray, with a nice blouses, now not sure if I can wear them. This is a Christmas present from a friend and I don't want to cause a problem. I was thinking business casual, but thinking now its more country club wear now.:confused:

I am on the Mariner on the January 4th trip the ports are Costa Maya, Mexico, Harvest Caye, Belize and Roatan, Honduras then back to Miami. I can't find anything on the Weather Channel for any of the ports. I am losing weight and don't want to pack fall style clothes if it's going to be in the mid to high 70's. Any suggestions on how to pack? I'm a jeans girl and since I can't wear jeans after 6pm I take it I need Business Casual for dinner and nicer dress for Prime7. I am retired and my closet shows retired LOL. Also is there a formal night on Mariner I will need something fancy or Sunday dress?

PS i know its early but I don't want to have to hit the malls in December to buy cruise clothes at the last minute.:eek:

Like Bizzie, we have let Regent do the whole "magilla". For us by the time we do our own air, transfers both ways and a hotel, we're not that far off from what we'd spend on our own.

We're on the Jan. 4, Miami RT and they've put us at "The Epic".....looks interesting.

Still don't have a flight schedule yet...

We're on the same cruise. This is my first of RSS and the Mariner. My friend made our flight but haven't heard about hotel yet. The site says Coral Gables hotel. I need to get through Tuesday the 8th :rolleyes: and then I can start getting excited about this cruise. I have looked at Youtubes on the Mariner. It's starting to sink in.

We were on Carnival Freedom and the last day we walked to the train station, about a block or two from port. We bought a round trip ticket and boarded the train, like Amtrack it stops a lot. Be careful when you leave to station in Rome you don't go out a side entrance. We were a little lost, but that was fun, we came upon a church having a sale and found so cute things for sale. Made it to a main street and found a cab stop, Cabbie took us to the Vatican in time for mass. Make sure you cancel the ticket in the box on the ramp to the train its a punch system, before you get back on the train. The locals will yell at you. LOL Its a very scenic ride, make sure you take your camera. The ride along the shore line was beautiful at sunset, the water glowed golden.

We're doing the Ruins in Costa Maya, I don't walk very good but there looks like places to sit. We are taking the tour through the ship and it does say uneven walking. I will have my cane with me. Should i change to a beach day? I would hate to go all that way and not see the ruins.

Question, I have never been on the Mariner before I'm a carnival girl. Is it a sit down 5 course dinner or do you order from the menu. I was looking online and there isn't much there i would eat. Can I do two Prime 7 instead of one of each. Where will you find the menu every day for the CR. Heck do we get a new letter every day of the cruise to let us know things Like shows, games, movies. Talks. Is there a formal night like on Carnival that I have to dress up.Please help this poor southern lady so she doesn't look like a redneck hick and I promise not to use Piggly Wiggley bags for suitcases.

It depends upon what suite category you are in. Larger suites have more outlets. Suite Location is Deck 8 Like I said this is my first cruise on a smaller line. I know I want get lost on this ship. My friend will want the bed separated as I have to prop my legs to sleep and hardly ever lie down in the bed. Can you get extra pillows? We are celebrating me not dieing in 2013. My first cruise in 9 years. Can't wait.

Will be on the Mariner in January and wondered if we needed to bring a bar plug with two women or is there plenty of outlets. This will be my first time on a small ship.

I was on the maiden voyage of the Freedom was 8 years ago :eek:. Its a log walk to the elevators, but the steps were closer, I had just had a knee replacement and stairs were not an option on may days. I am shocked to hear the changes, this was my second cruise and everything was so new and sparkly. We had an extended aft balcony and only spent a few days on it since we went on March and in Europe it was cooler. I guess I will have to pack a little fan since, as being older now they seem to keep the rooms warmer.

Just remember, you're not at home and have a blast.
