Go with the gratuities. The upgrade probably is not worth it.

I would not stand in line for that pizza no matter what time it is. Msc eould put pizzas on the buffet line and you got what uou wanted and it was 10 times more to my liking. The pizza line was always too long. I am going to head off that person that is going to say the line is so long becausenit is so good. Nope, the line is long because the alternatives are worse.

They generally go the the same port every time unless something happens like a day with extra ships arriving. I have been to cozumel 4 times the only time we went to s diffent dock was on MSC and i like that one better than the one Carnival uses.

I didn't think of it, but that may be another factor. Carnival has long publicly considered itself a "family" cruise line, while benefiting from the "party" crowd on the short, cheap "booze cruise."
It could be a bit of a quiet way to try to encourage that late night party to head to bed before anything too bad happens.
Carnival will fly whatever flag you want them to as long as your paying. Carnival has been the King of Cutbacks for the last 20 years and probably have a ways to go yet. 5 years from now you will be paying them and have to bring a sleeping bag and pack a cooler with food but no drinks they will sell you those.

I am booked for sept 2023 on paradise. I will have to keep an eye on whats happening .as of right now i am only in it for $100. I had sworn off fantasy class ships but the price and the port stops lured me in.

Umm, yes, this was for future reference. The thread dates back to 2015.
Nothing has changed. I worked in food plants the last 20 years and dealt with the USDA people when they visit.

Pizza isn't self-serve.
When did they do away with the bacon police on Carnival?

Its the point that people are obsessed with bacon, but then don't eat as much as they put on their plate, so it gets dumped in the trash. I would bet no other food gets wasted like bacon. But my point was that people waste a LOT of food on the cruise, and that drives food costs up.
So? Does the price of the cruise go down if you eat everything off your plate? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thats must be some of that core math .
