  1. I was looking at a TA cruise from Miami to Rome with stops in Azores, Spain and Canne.  I was telling a friend about it and she didn't think the ship went the direction it did -- said that there were probably buses in between.  I read her the itinerary and my interpretation is that the ship sailed to all places -- only coach trips were the excursions.  She has gone to Romania multiple times and knows Europe and said the itinerary didn't make sense.  I need to prove her wrong .  I believe it was an NCL ship sailing in April .  Thanks.  I hope I didn't confuse you.

  2. I am writing on behalf of a friend. Someone she knows was on this cruise from Singapore to Sydney. This elderly couple had two cameras and they did not have the cameras when they returned to the UK. The lady died the day after they returned home and the cameras contain some of the last photos taken of them as a couple. I am going to get more information, but am asking if anyone has heard if the cameras were found, maybe returned to the ship's purser, etc. Also, the cameras were with them when taking a cab around December 7th or 8th and went to the Sydney Opera House. Does anyone know which cab companies operate near the port that they may have used? I will recommend the family contact Royal Caribbean and the cab company or companies serving the area. If someone took the cameras, maybe they would have removed the memory cards at least so this family can have their grandparents' pictures. I will add new information when I receive it. I am in the US, but my friend is in the UK. It would be wonderful if at least the memory cards are located. I hope the person or persons who found them is honest and helps this family recover the cameras or memory cards.

If anyone has an idea on who to contact, I would appreciate it if you could post it here or send me a private message. THANK YOU.

Can someone tell me what cab companies operate in the area of the port and also the Sydney Opera House. The couple may have left their cameras in a cab after going to the Opera House. If contact information or phone numbers of the cab companies are available, that would be appreciated as well.

  4. If you have a specific entertainer or two in mind, they usually have their own website where they list their tour dates. Depending on which part of Florida you are interested in, there are some nice venues for concerts. I don't believe I can give you the names of the ones I am thinking of, but there is a nice one in Sarasota and there are some in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Also, most of the major cities have an arena or hall where they have top name entertainers. The casino showrooms also have concerts at similar rates as the arenas, just a smaller theater.

There is a country western cruise planned for next year with Kenny Rogers and some other older C&W entertainers and groups. That website is where I saw advertising for a cruise featuring Frankie Avalon.

    Good luck.

  5. I had been told in 1974 that I had PCOS. I made an appointment with my gyn because I did not have a period for about five months. Then I overslept and missed the appointment. Then, by the time I was able to see him, it had been seven months! I knew I wasn't pregnant, but figured something was wrong and should find out why my periods were so far apart. I always had irregular cycles since I started having them at 13. They were spaced from six weeks to three months for most of my teen years. I rarely had cramps and found out later it was because I wasn't ovulating. My gyn put me on a medication called Provera (10mg). He told me to take the pill every day for 10 days, but that I should stop the pills if my period came. He said it should start within 24 to 48 hours after the last pill. I took all of the pills. It finally started on day 13. Then I took the pills every month, starting on day 18 of my cycle. At one point, my doctor gave me a prescription for Clomid (a fertility drug) to induce ovulation. He told me he wanted to see if he could "shake up those ovaries." I had a funny doctor. He was older and reminded me of Dr. Welby (some of the older ladies here may remember Marcus Welby, MD, and his young assistant, Dr. Steve Kiley, played by James Brolin). About five years later, I was scheduled to have my gallbladder removed. My doctor told me to ask the surgeon to look at my ovaries. He confirmed that I did in fact have PCOS. My gyn told me the same thing about getting pregnant, but didn't say it was impossible. He told me that when I got married and decided to start a family not to wait too long. I could have surgery called a Wedge Resection. I never married and did not have children. What I want to stress here is that I had a hysterectomy at 52 and it was initially thought that I had Ovarian Cancer. I was later told the ovaries had tumors of low malignant potential. I always wondered if the PCOS had anything to do with it -- not ovulating on a regular basis all those years. Medical Science has advanced so much that women should see a doctor as soon as they feel there is something irregular going on. You know your own body better than anyone else. It is nice to go without periods, but it is not normal!

It was difficult for me to lose weight when I was younger. Since the hysterectomy, it is easier. I am also hypothyroid (diagnosed at 12 mos.) and have to watch my weight for that reason as well.

  6. My paternal grandmother was born in Lancashire. I was hoping to visit there when I visited a friend in London in July 2007, but never made it. Can you tell me how far Lancashire is from London. I am hoping to make the trip in the next year. My grandmother died in 1986. She emigrated from Lancashire to Toronto, Canada, and then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in the United States when she was 21. I am working on genealogy and have very little knowledge about her family.

  7. Why are the ships in port for such a short time? Also, 7AM to 1PM. Are the shops even open that early? By the time you get somewhere, you have to turn around and get back to the ship. My earlier cruises spent more time in port and better hours while there. In Cozumel, we were there from 9AM to Midnight! It was great seeing the city lights as we pulled away from the dock.

  8. Did you go on the London Eye? A friend of mine who was born and lived in London invited me to visit with her in 2007. We had a great time and I loved having a personal guide. We did the London Eye (formerly called Millenium Wheel as part of the celebration of the new century), the boat tour, the HOHO bus and also city bus rides where I saw Wimbledon. We also took the Eurostar over to Paris for a few days. This was a memorable trip, and I am sorry to say that my friend died from Ovarian Cancer last year. She and her husband were wonderful hosts and gave me the royal treatment. Her husband kept asking me, "Would you like some tea?" or "Would you like some soda?" I told him he was going to spoil me because I don't have anyone at home to get me things. LOL.

  9. Jack Jones twice on Princess.. kinda cool (but, okay, hokey:rolleyes:) to hear the "Love Boat" theme sung by the man himself; also Susan Anton and the guy who played Leroy on the TV show, Fame. Gavin McLeod on an inaugural..

On my first cruise (Norway), Jack Jones was the entertainer for the week either before or after ours (can't remember which, but saw his picture on a poster). We had Jerry Van Dyke. I was a big fan of Jack Jones and brokenhearted that we just missed him.

  10. Since I am unable to cruise right now (unemployed), I enjoy reading about the different new ships. When I first saw pictures of the Epic, I thought it was too big. I started my cruising experiences on the Norway--the largest cruise ship at that time (1983). Since then, I have been on five more cruises. Three total were NCL and I would love to take the Epic since reading your review.

I will be watching for more of your reviews and hopefully meet you on a cruise. Until then, I will continue to read reviews.

  11. My first cruise was on NCL's SS Norway. The ports were St. Thomas, Nassau and Little Stirrup Cay (NCL's private island). We were hooked. While at the pool, all you had to do was look up. If the waiter caught your eye, he was there to see if you wanted a drink. I didn't want to disappoint him, so I ordered what was to become my favorite drink ... Yellow Bird!!! I even know how to make them at home, though I haven't done so in quite a while.

Before we were even off the ship, my friend said, "Where are we going next year?" We went on the MS Starward the next year, then the Bermuda Star the following year. I have been on NCL's Seaward, and RCI's Monarch of the Seas as a solo, but had a great time with people I met on the ships. I went with family members on Carnival's Inspiration.

  13. I had a yellowbird for the first time last week, and it was really good!

Found this recipe on the web, I'm going to try it as soon as I buy some galliano!

    Yellowbird Drink Recipe

    Drink Ingredients:

    0.75 oz. Vodka

    0.75 oz. Orange Juice

    0.75 oz. Cream

    0.5 oz. Galliano

0.75 oz. white creme de cacao

    Instruction:

Add ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice. Shake and strain into chilled glass.

The Yellow Bird recipe I have uses rum, Galliano, pineapple juice, orange juice, Lemix, and fresh banana. I found it in the NCL book given to us on the ship.

  14. Yellow Bird -- If you make them at home, use fresh bananas instead of Creme de Banana. I haven't had one in a long time. I do make them at home, but Galliano is $30 a bottle. The liquor store used to sell Neopolitan, but I can't find it anywhere. It is a good substitute for Galliano when using it for a "foo foo" drink.

  15. I love the sound of the chimes before an announcement early in the morning in your room - I get the same feeling as when I remember that first time I heard the music in the line for Space Mountain as a child!! I can't wait to hear it again.

My friend and I overslept on Thursday morning (7-day cruise) because we were so tired from all of our activities. We woke when we heard the chimes and jumped out of bed immediately to get showered and dressed to leave the ship for one of our port visits. We never got dressed so fast. After that, we made sure we had a wake-up call.

  16. My DH and I love to feel the ship moving, especially after an exhausting but wonderful day in port. We love to have the ship gently rock us to sleep. I told him he should come up with a way for our house to do that! We even like the rougher seas. (I know - we're weird!)

No, you are not weird. I was rocked to sleep on my first cruise onboard the Norway. The second cruise was so smooth that I complained to my friend ... I miss being rocked to sleep!

  17. I live in a western suburb of Cleveland. As you can see by my name "Norwaylin", it was given to me by my cruising buddy when we went on our first cruise aboard the SS Norway.

The last cruise I went on was the Inspiration out of Tampa, FL. It was a Spring Break cruise for my sister's family (which included three school-age children). My favorite time is cruise is in the late fall, but I would like to try one in February in the next few years.
