Not being snide, just curious.  I just can't figure out how anyone can tell which direction a ship is moving while in the cabin, apart from looking out the window.  And what happens when the ship backs into the pier early in the morning?  As an OV cabin person, my bed is sideways to the way the ship is moving.  I sleep better on a ship than at home.  In an inside cabin, I might never think about which way the bed is facing.  How about sleeping in a moving motorhome?  Or a sleeping compartment on a train?  So many questions.....

Special needs said they could tell me the direction on Celebrity but not RC.  I did request several agents to contact the ship and ask guest relations to send someone to the cabin.   I had 2 emails with neither of them in the correct direction.....even though they said it was the direction that I needed.  We ended up getting off our B2B early due to illness that we contacted on the ship. I am specificity referring to the balcony cabins.  I used to only take inside or OV.  However, as Pinnacle, I have graduated in age and treat myself to a balcony.  A OV may be my best solution for my new diagnosis.

Again, thank you everyone.  Actually, cruise deck plans has a generic photo of a bed, sofa, etc. on their website.  I could not get a direction.  Two RC people sent me emails with the incorrect information.  So, for our last cruise my husband just moved the beds in the right direction.  I do not consider it a problem any longer. Problem solved!

  3. Thank you.  I just saw the JS price and will change to a large balcony cabin.  On the cruise that I am looking at all standard balcony cabins are closed.  I could wait until the agencies release them but by then it will be the same price as a large.  i watched you tube and the few shown were not helpful.  Usually I can count every other one and how the bed is facing.  I need for my feet to be going forward while laying in bed due to Vertigo.Do you have any suggestions?

Post cabin numbers thst you are looking at, it can be figured out by those that know cabin layouts.

You will have sofas and beds facing both directions for balcony cabins

Thank you.  I think we are now changing to a JS.  Not sure which cabin or how to post this question. Maybe just post a few cabin numbers ?  Were should I post it? We just returned from the Oasis and got a half size balcony cabin because it was connecting to a suite.  Smallest cabin I have ever been in....no sofa.  Wasn't told that it was  connecting. We ended up changing the beds ourselves to the direction the ship was cruising.

Thank you.  Actually, it is every other cabin the beds face the opposite direction. So, I have a 50/50 chance. With Vertigo, it is medically important to face the direction the cabin is cruising.  No one at RC has layouts....not even "support assist" .  They do have  directions the cabin is facing on Celebrity.  RC needs to get with it!!

There's quite a few of us with the same problem. We have a starboard cabin booked on the Oasis for late June and, since I have no idea if the bed faces forward (sure hope so) or aft, am already planning if aft to have the room steward remake the beds to make sure I'm facing forward when I sleep.

Thank you.  I wish we could do something to alert RC of this problem and it is necessary for us to know the direction our cabin is going.

  7. Plan to book Anthem....a large balcony.  Even though there are few left for January, 24, if anyone has ever stayed in one, would you please share your cabin number? I have Vertigo.  I need for the sofa and bed to be facing forward.  As I am sitting on the sofa, the direction I am seeing is going the same direction as the ship. Thank you.

  8. I have vertigo.  I have tried desperately to find a website/information the beds and couch are going in the direction of the ship.  I mean forward.  When I sit on the couch, I like to ride seeing where I am going not where I have been.  It is important to me for the beds to be in the right direction.  I really don't care where they are located.  I have on the Oasis in May a B/B in cabin 8262.  Unfortunately, it is connected.  It was the only one on deck eight that I could get the same cabin for two consecutive cruises. Thanking you in advance for any information.

  9. Perhaps everyone is forgetting that RC choose not to register in the U.S. thus avoiding taxes.  Maybe if they had, things would be different.  Stimulus checks, less restrictive sailing rules and more defined "test cruises" to start immediately.  I believe that if RC was  American registered, then things would be moving along more quickly with the CDC.  I still feel that mandatory vaccination cards are going to be a must for cruising.

  10. Why are the posts not in date order?  It is difficult to read a post and then realize that it was written 6 months ago. The previous post was yesterday and the following post last week.  I feel like it is now necessary to check when it was written before reading and then realize why the person is writing a obvious question. In my opinion, organization of posts dates would be more efficient. Has anyone posted this question before?

  11. I am a Grandeur fan, also.  However, Enchantment is a sister ship.....just a little larger due to being cut in half.  For those of you who have never cruised on her.....you will not notice much difference.  I just wish the other class ships could fit under the bridge.  I have heard rumors that others can but, RC prefers the vision class....I guess.

Of course, the latest news on cruising is disappointing.  7 day or less.....and when? Hope it is soon.....

  12. I live in the Baltimore area and cruise on the Vision class frequently.  If you looking for the bells and whistles that are on the other ships......forget it.  If you are looking for a small friendly ship with the standard cruise amenities, pool, casino WJ, etc....then you have made the right choice.  I think you get more for your buck on the next size ship but, if you are from the area.....you will be cruising with your friends and neighbors.  I like that aspect of cruising.

  13. If you go to the medical facility on a ship......before you leave, look at the diagnosis. My experience was that the doctor did not put the real symptom of my visit and put anxiety disorder instead. I am trying to get the real diagnosis put on the medical bill so that my insurance will pay for it. They will not pay for anxiety. I was upset due to the problem I was having and they will pay for that problem. Wish me luck. Royal says it will help get the full diagnosis on the bill so that I can submit it to the insurance company. It is very important that the doctor does not put "and other disorders" but instead the true diagnosis. Just hope this helps someone in the future.

  14. I will be taking a cruise on the Anthem. July 6. I have difficulty handling my suitcase.....taking the BWI Amtrack at 7:53. Would it be best to take it to Penn Station or Airport for the easiest taxi and less walking to shuttle/taxi? Would you leave earlier than 8 for the same day cruise? Should I book a shuttle prior to arriving to ensure a ride or just hope to find a taxi? Someone mentioned that Penn Station is closer to the port....true? Another said that you can get a shuttle from the airport for $20 with others.....a better choice? I am a senior and am trying to avoid less stress and walking.

  15. These treads are from 2012.....I am a senior and concerned about taking my 2 suitcases myself. I will be traveling alone. How long does a taxi take to get to the port? In addition, how difficult is it to find one? I will be taking a taxi to the BWI Amtract station to Newark station and then getting a taxi or shuttle service to the port. Any information you can offer will be appreciated.

  16. I would love to see transportation to the Anthem from Baltimore offered by RC. Then you can be assured that the traffic will not be a problem and the ship will wait. I hope they do not pull out of Baltimore but, if they do, then I think they should provide bus transportation to N.J. for an opportunity to board another RC ship. I wish they would do that now......it's the only way I will be going on a ship from N.J. I would really miss the Grandeur. Hope you are wrong about the sale.

  17. I know this post is old but I had agree with you, as a fellow Marylander (transplant, at least). Plus, think of the revenue it could bring to the state. It would be great to expand the number of cruise lines and ships that could service this area making it easily accessible for the DMV area but also areas within a couple of hours.

    We can dream, right!

As a Marylander, I love that and the possibility of all ships not just the vision ships for RC and others.......

  18. Don't miss the aerial show in the Centrum. Make sure you show up at least 20-30 minutes in advance of the show to get a good seat.

The towel-folding demonstration is also interesting to watch (also in the Centrum). If you get to the front for pictures at the end of the demonstration quickly enough, you may also be able to get a copy of a handout that shows you how to fold some towel animals.

The dance parties in the Centrum can be fun if you're into that sort of thing.

    No more aeriel shows.....

  19. Don't miss the arial shows in the centrum .... very cool...above the Windjammer the is a deck that over looks the front of the ship ... makes for a good view... any specific questions ... I can answer ... we are most likely going on her again in march 2017 to the southern Caribbean

No more Ariel shows......was on her in Jan., 2017 and Feb.,2017.
