Disagree ... right now we're getting one good clean in the morning + a touch-up around dinner time.  What we're losing is the touch-up, but it will sting.  Trash cans not emptied, towels not replaced, used glassware not removed.

Twice a day seems excessive to me anyways. How much trash are you producing? How many towels do you need. Do you wash your home towels twice a day? I guess glassware is only good for one use? This seems like a lot of whining over nothing.

  2. How do clocks on Royal Caribbean ships work. We will be departing from Miami (EST) but moving throght different time zones. Does the ship keep the origination port time as the same as the ship time for the whole cruise?

Also how does this work out for port days when they say in port form 7-4. Does that mean ship time or actual port time? This will be important as we booked an excursion outside of the cruise line and need to know when to show up.

  3. Since this is my first cruise ever I have some questions about the main dinning room. We will be on the Oasis in March for 7 days. We have a dinner set time of 5:30 in the MDR. Here are my questions.

Does the main dinning room serve breakfast and or lunch?

If so what time slots are available for this?

If they do serve breakfast and/or lunch do we need to let them know we are coming?

How crowded does it get if they serve breakfast/lunch?

Is it any good? (I know this may spark a lot of opinions but willing to see what comes from the question)

If we are not coming to dinner do we need to notify them before?

If so how much advanced time do we need to give?

Do we have an assigned table for the whole trip?

Do we have any choice in which table we get?

    Any advice?

BTW we chose not to do any specialty dinning. We are not that picky and it seems like there is a decent selection without paying extra.

Thank you in advance for any information.

  4. For everyone who answered THANK YOU. This has helped for sure. I have had the app downloaded since I first booked the cruise in September. I tend to over research  (I have my personal spreadsheet created for the trip...lol) so I have most things figured out already. I just want to be prepared and not miss on something as simple a show by not booking in time. Good tips on the kids thing (especially the Teen Club). Most of what Mum2Mercury said about rules of the kids sounds like sound advice and probably what we would have said anyways but good to see it so clearly written.

  5. Hello everyone. Our first cruise is a week-long Caribbean cruise leaving out of Miami next March and we are aboard the Oasis. I have done a ton of research but still have some oddball questions. Any help is appreciated.

    1)    How ‘safe” are the room safes? I have read about the small size but only plan on keeping some paperwork, passports, and some cash in them. Should we not worry?

    2)    Does Labadee/Coco Cay have towel service on the islands or do we need to bring them from the ship?

    3)    Does Labadee have lockers for use?

    4)    How cold does the room refrigerators keep things. I have heard conflicting stories about these?

    5)    Do the room refrigerators come stock with expensive temptation already? We don’t want those things but are concerned about if we will have enough room to keep a 12 pack of sodas?

    6)    Is there a way to see what shows are playing when before in the days before the cruise?

    7)    How fast do ship shows “sell out”? Once onboard how fast do we need to worry about booking shows?

😎    When reserving shows do you reserve specific seats? If so is there a “best seats” list anywhere or are most seats fine?

    9)    We have a 14 and 12 year old. Will we be fine letting the roam around on their own (together) during some of the day or will we always need to be nearby. Just before I hear anything they are well behaved and have basic manners so I am less worried about them disturbing others than I am about anything happening to them from other passengers.

I am sure I will have more questions before we leaveJ Any help is appreciated even unsolicited advice.

    Thank you.

  6. Societal norms. Things change. Including “societal norms”. Simply put if you don’t like the way people behave then you need to either not go out or change your views. It is not reasonable for you to expect everyone else to conform to “your norms”. Your norms are not “societal norms”. Maybe form your viewpoint but obviously many people don’t feel the same way or we would not be having this discussion. I also wonder what are you are actually protecting you grandkids from? You having to explain something uncomfortable to them?

Yes, if they are way beyond reasonable.  I have certain societal standards for my underage kids and grandkids.  I don't think boobs hanging out of bathing suits are appropriate.  I don't think pubic hair growing out of bathing suit bottoms is appropriate.  I don't think pants should be hanging below one's butt is appropriate.  I don't think speedos that show every detail of a man's junk is appropriate.  Your milage may vary and I don't care.  This is my opinion and desires.  You can be triggered all you want, I DON'T CARE.

Not sure who is triggered here… I understand your viewpoint but in the end that is the way things are. You either choose to live among it or not. I have yet to be on a cruise yet but am less worried about other peoples actions than what I teach my kids. I refuse to hide them from the world so I teach them to cope and understand the world so they can deal with things better when they do run across things that are out of the ordinary.
