Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. Nice find. At least they are specific about what you are going to get on each ship. I don't think I have ever seen the "professional competition-standard dance instructors" available for dancing with during the evenings. Only the dance hosts. I did see one of the professionals dancing exclusively with his girlfriend on one cruise, that's about it.
  2. We are on the 9th September cruise. Here is the email we got: IMPORTANT NOTICES Important information regarding your itinerary Please be advised that Queen Elizabeth will be utilising the forward berth at the Railroad Dock for our call to Skagway, Alaska on 13 September 2024. As the port area in Skagway has been affected by nearby rockslides, the path adjacent to the dock is closed and guests are not currently permitted to walk in the area where construction on mitigation measures is underway. As a result, tender boats will be in operation to and from the ship in Skagway, to allow guests to go ashore. There will be no access to the ship via the dock.
  3. Hi QE Alaskans 🐧 We have a QE Alaskan cruise coming up and just got an email that Skagway will now be a tender disembarkation due to mudslides. I have a non-cruise excursion booked at 9am and am worried about getting off the ship on time. Has any recent QE Skagway dockings been via tender and have there been any issues getting off the ship and into town quickly?
  4. On our recent QE cruise we got on about 1pm despite checkin time being 15:00. We got on very quickly - I don't think it was 'uncool' at all, there was not much of a crowd when we embarked. Our room was ready right away as well. If I was you I'd get on as early as you can so you can avoid the 3pm crowd. Head straight to the lido restaurant for your free buffet lunch, then spend the rest of the afternoon getting familiar with the ship. You might have to wait a few hours for your room and luggage to be ready if you get on early.
  5. We just got home from our 8 day cruise on QE so I thought I'd post some info for others who might be wondering the same things I was when I originally posted this. We had 3 duo bands, one was ballroom-oriented and supported by the 9 piece orchestra, another rock-n-roll oriented and the third was a scottish folk duo. We had a fantastic time! We can dance all styles and so having 3 different bands on each night was just great. At 6pm there was recorded music. At 7:15 one of the bands would play in the Queens Room for 45 mins, then at 8:45pm another band would come on until around 11:30pm. There were a lot of couple-dancers and there was also a small group of sequence dancers. So the dance floor was often busy but at the same time there was still enough room for dancing without too much compromise (busiest around 9pm, outside these times there was lots of room). One of the afternoon teas was also dance-oriented with orchestra. I had read other posts here saying that Cunard isn't catering for dancers anymore but I thought this was far from the truth, at least out here in Australia on QE. We were very well-catered for in my opinion, the dance floor was well-populated and everyone was having a great time. The only thing they have gotten rid of is the gentleman dancers (which is understandable because of Covid). Also, a word about face masks. We got an email a day before leaving that face masks were now mandatory indoors so we were worried about being stuck wearing masks when dancing. However when we got on their policy was that face masks were merely 'recommended' indoors on board and only mandatory when embarking or disembarking. We enjoyed our time so much that we've booked another Cunard cruise in a month's time, looking forward to it!
  6. Great to hear that! Cunard's web site says that all the nightclub and lounge dance floors are closed. Hopefully it is out of date information - we have a booking for Queen Elizabeth in Australia and were worried that dancing will be banned.

    Dancing

Hi, can anyone tell me if Cunard are allowing ballroom dancing in the evenings in their main ballrooms on the ships?
