Contact the Dancing Dolphin. We just sailed with them in January. Great catamaran. Great crew. Ours was not a private, it was an excursion, but I'm sure they do private charters. I highly recommend them.

The water taxis are right at port along with the land taxis. They have taxi stands where you purchase tickets. We spent the day diving at St. Kitts, so we didn't use a water taxi, but many people did and it looked very easy with standard prices.

It depends how long you're in port. We did shopping and the catamaran excursion to St. John.

We enjoyed the Dancing Dolphin catamaran and snorkeling trip.

Thanks for sharing. My husband and I are from Cleveland and heading to Coco Cay soon. Hoping to dive, but so far no luck with RC. I also can't seem to find any independent dive shops. Any advice is appreciated. Wet suit necessary for January?

Bumping this thread to the top, I hope to dive in Coco Cay twice in a row! Last year it was a bit murky 2 weeks after a hurricane. Debating buying a hand mount for my go pro, tired of bubble noises on my cam mount.

I loved drift diving in Cozumel. We saw a lot of sea life. Our dives in Belize were beautiful, but it was rough weather, so not a fair comparison. Grand Cayman would be #3. I haven't been to Roatan yet.

Depends how experienced you are and what you want to see.
Cozumel dive sites are amazing, but it is drift diving, and many reefs are deep and far off shore...so if you are newbie or don't dive often, it might be more challenging than you want.
Roatan is great diving, shallower reefs with little current, reefs close to shore so short boat rides, so much easier all the way around. This would be my first choice for most people.
Grand Cayman is good, but since it is a tender port, you have that extra boat ride and standing in line to get tender back hassle.
Belize...I wouldn't bother there. The reefs are a long boat ride away from where the cruise ships anchor, and so it is 1-2 hour boat ride each way. Too long for just okay diving, IMHO. With the other choices, I would not pick Belize. Too many other fun things to do in Belize anyway.

Is there a dive shop on Coco Cay where we can schedule a dive? Oasis isn't offering a dive excursion. My husband and I are both SSI certified. Thanks in advance for advice.

Just to add....
The dive at Coco Cay was supposed to be on Monday instead of Tues. When they canceled Roatan they added Nassau on Monday which switched Coco Cay to Tuesday. Not sure I could have dived on Coco Cay on Monday anyway due to the storm or maybe it just stormed over night on Monday to Tuesday. On the other hand I did dive in Nassau on Monday, the seas were very, very rough but there was no storm on Monday at least in Nassau. That report is in my "Diving in Nassau" post.
Being that the dive in Coco Cay was supposed to be first It was intended as a warm up for Roatan. I hadn't dived since last April and being a relatively new diver I booked the one tank dive on Coco Cay to get my feet wet again.

Our scuba excursion on RC Oasis has been cancelled as was our last scuba excursion with Norwegian. It will definitely decrease our future cruising because we'll have to go to resorts where we can dive. Bummer. Any advice for dive shops in St. Maarten, San Juan, or St. Thomas?

I just found this in a post in the last 24 hours:
"We just got back from a Carnival cruise and our scuba excursion was cancelled. The Shore Excursion Desk said that the cancellations were fleet-wide due to some insurance requirements. They were not sure if scuba would be offered in the future."
Response from someone on a Trans-Pacific Royal cruise:
"We asked on board at the start of our cruise and were told they arent offering scuba excursions as there is too much risk and insurance too high. They said they may still offer them on carribean ships, namely oasis class, where they have a master diver onboard."This could explain the lack of Scuba Excursions on my up coming three cruises. Only one has a Scuba excursion and which has been listed as "sold out" almost since it was listed.

Calm water snorkeling in St. Thomas
in St. Thomas/St. John

We booked the catamaran excursion to St. John and snorkeled there. The boat was the Dancing Dolphin and I highly recommend them. The crew was great. Drinks and snacks were great. The ride from St. Thomas to St. John was wonderful. While snorkeling, we saw turtles and rays.
