  1. I don't think so. Having followed the instructions sent by P&O , it's a fairly straightforward p rocedure.  No problem placing them in the basket, then not possible to complete checkout with the instruction to 'checkout later . Then the next time I checked 7 items removed. Then informed  'you already have a booking for', then underneath So we can't book, checkout later. Next screen shot states, 'this product is on hold so we can't book'.  I've got screen shots anyway so I'll just show them at the theatre entrance. Hope the theatre entertainment performs better than their website!!!

  2. Well it seems to be a worse situation than yesterday 're pre booking entertainment, when I had at least 12 nights in the'basket' and to return to checkout later which I did, only to be informed that checkout 'not available'.  Logged in today to find 7 items removed and 5 remain in the basket.  I have, once again added the ones that have been removed, gone to  checkout again only to be informed I have nothing booked.    What a waste of time, now  I understand why customers become exasperated with P&O's website

  3. Today, I've received an email regarding booking the entertainment for our 23/09/23 cruise on Iona.  After  selecting our options and placing them in the basket, I then proceed to checkout where it informs me, I've booked them before and it will let me go no further.   Off course I have done no such thing.  Now I've read countless times that P&O website is mediocre at best but this is not what I wanted to see.  Although I ticked the check box for both guests,  the basket info only shows one name.  Surely this isn't correct either

  4. Just wondered if anyone who has done the 14 night Spain & Portugal med cruise this year on Iona can give any indication of the arrival time back into Southampton please.    I realise it can change but just trying to organise onward train travel home.  I have read on Cruise critic approximately 7.30 - 8.30 am, but that seems relatively late to me so  thought I'd double check.  Thanks

You were lucky. We followed all rules  for two years+ when we went on Britannia in Sept. No-one wearing masks except us and crew. Caught it and spent 6 days in cabin missing all the ports we wanted to visit. We were honest when I went down with it, as was my wife but many others were not as ther coughing and spluttering was all over. We were assured there was no outbreak....until the captain and then both the medical dept and Carnival themselves admitted there was and we all had to wear masks!. We are now pursuing this via P&O, probably ABTA and legal advice.

I feel for you honestly.  The coughing, sneezing etc that was going on was truly un-believable. No handkerchiefs, no hand over mouths etc., etc  I truly had my eyes opened at some passengers behaviour.  The cruise before ours,Ventura was wick with covid, in fact to the point I had to stop reading about it.  All I can say, is good luck with your endeavours in pe rsuing P& O and whoever else may help you.

(Normal, cloth, blue) Masks protect others not you. Unless you were wearing medical grade masks you were lucky, or were infected but not show symptoms.

Yes, wearing medical quality masks the whole 10 days on board.  Wanted to do our best for both ourselves and other people.  A great pity other passengers weren't in the same mind frame.  H onestly, if I could have changed my husband's mind about going, I would have done.   Anyhow, it's over now and it would appear safe thus far.

  7. We disembarked Ventura on the 18th 0October and actually it was the comedian who informed us that staff masks were being abandoned.  Surprisingly, the next day there were  a lot of staff without the masks, but also a lot still wearing them.  Pity some of the passengers weren't wearing them, the coughing & sneezing that was taking place.  Some passengers could only be described as selfish.  We wore them for the whole 10 days and hopefully so far, so good.

Most any Celebrity   ship is good for Alaska , The main questions i would have   is are you booking a balcony cabin or  one with out a balcony ;because then you need a  ship with a good veranda  to walk & view the Alaska scenery . Another   question to ask is there a naturalist /ranger . Marine biologist  aboard to explain what you are seeing

Imo a cruise to Alaska is like the topping  on a sundae .  The real taste of  Alaska   is traveling the interior  . We have been to Alaska 5 times   ^ would welcome another interior trip by flying directly into Anchorage or Fairbanks then renting a car . A great month is May before the tundra   becomes  water pools for the state bird ,the mosquito   .There are also black flies later in the year that can sting

To see Denali National Park must make reservations 6 yo 9 months in advance  ,Take powerful binoculars   & a camera that has 200 & 300 millimeter  lense capability

Best  place to stay near to the park is the Denali Lake View Inn  ,a   triple   A AA  3 diamond  bed & breakfast    just about 10 to 15  minute drive from the park entrance , The management is  great  Ask for a  box lunch to take on the tour of the park , ask them where best to eat lunches & dinners .They are locals .  This B&B over looks a amazing lake Otto with Geese Swans &  ducks .Next door is a ATV   place ,Take the tundra tour  .  Mt Mckinley is 20 ,300 feet tall . I was able to get clear  pictures  ,no clouds of both the North & south summits  . The tour is wonderful , don't forget to ask about the dog sled demo at the information  building in the park

One last thing google :discount books in Alaska  .We had one & it saved us a bunch    in separate tours    . We did several

Wear layered clothing like a short sleeve shirt /blouse ,slacks , bring a sweater  ,a wind breaker , wool  gloves & a umbrella , Alaska weather can change quickly  ,We were lucky in May have mid 70s & low 89s temps

Best of  Alaska  is both a cruise &  then inland   .imo one with out the other is leaving short the real beauty & majesty 😀

Thank you for all your tips  regarding a visit to Alaska.  We are contemplating this.  What would be your recommendations on which type of stateroom to choose please.  We have been on Eclipse  a few times but never to Alaska.  We would be travelling a fair distance to join  the ship so would just hate to choose the wrong type of stateroom.

  9. We are currently on Ventura.  There must be numerous liars onboard as coughing, sneezing and the likes is constant.  We moved to a different table in Waterside yesterday because of a female coughing incessantly on the adjacent table.  My husband left the theatre on Monday night because of a man in the row behind coughing virtually on the back of his neck.  I have no idea of course if it is a covid related cough, but it is pretty annoying.  Don't waste your time downloading Covid passes, doing a LTF or showing your insurance certificate requirements at the cruise terminal as not required and take absolutely no notice of the requirements written in the daily Horizon regarding, mask wearing, photograph  ID etc., when visiting the ports of call.  Its all such a waste of time and effort.  We have never been without our masks, along with a number of other passengers, but it's safe to say, we are in the minority.  I really hope our efforts will avoid Covid.  Only if its gets better than this would we consider travelling again.

I’m on board as well and this is my take too. Practically everybody wearing them when walking around.

I can tell you, I was so pleased to read your (and others)comments on the ruling being adhered too.  Of course, there will always be the one that doesn't comply, similar to those who bypass the hand sanitizer when entering the d ining venues, look anywhere and everywhere else to avoid them.  I think the saying is, you can't educate people who don't want to be educated.  Thanks again.

If P&O say they know nothing of mask wearing then they are openly lying. We have had the captain announcing masks must be worn at all times followed by a letter from the medical officer  at Carnival telling us we must wear them. Typical Lying P & O.

May I ask if, in your opinion, you feel passengers are complying with the mandatory instructions please?

24 hours ago we booked to go on Ventura on 8th October down Spain and Portugal for 10 days. I've come on CC for the first time in ages to get some info and stumbled on this thread

I've just got off the phone to P&O and apparently they know nothing of mask-wearing on Ventura or any other ships because of Covid - oh and there are absolutely no refunds or transfers available.

My husband and I are immune suppressed and I'm asthmatic and have had numerous chest infections since Covid at the end of last year. Wearing a mask for a long time is difficult and for this reason alone we would never have booked a cruise at this time had we been informed about the mask-wearing - would they really not know? They said there's a line about "adapting protocol to protect everyone on board" that they would have read to my husband on the the phone that covers them, but I said its a fundamental piece of information a customer should know before booking a 10 day cruise if it is a situation happening on their ships!

(I wear one at home going into shops etc so agree they're a good thing in principle)

    Any advice anyone please

There is no doubt about it, it is a fundamental piece of information and I honestly do think P&O are aware of the situation on their ships.  Can your husband remember whether that information was given or not but I suppose, it would be your word against theirs at the end of the day.   We have almost decided not to go, it's just not worth it.  Then when I've read that all the excursions on this latest trip have been cancelled,  well, it's just another warning  sign to me anyway.

  14. Thank you so much for your responses. Due to our circumstances I won't be an unhappy passenger because I simply can't be on-board, disappointing as that maybe.  Unfortunately, not only P& O take a while to make decisions, but with only 8 days before we are scheduled to leave, time is not on our side.

Meanwhile, I'll talk to P&O, Hope for the best and keep checking into CC.  Thank you again for assistance so far.

  15. This is not the news I wanted to hear, but am grateful for the update on mask wearing on Ventura.

We are/were hoping to join Ventura on the 8th October, N 227 but this latest news is rather un-nerving.

Whilst fully vaccinated, my husband  is a heart patient, so obviously in the vulnerable catergory  and honestly we just can't take any chances whatsoever.  I am certainly not looking for a refund, but should the situation remain as it is or indeed worsen,  would P&O be likely to issue a FCC given the circumstances.

  16. I share your pain.  It's happened to us many moons go and it is not a pleasant experience.  Customer service has all but disappeared and you do right to walk.  It is disgraceful that they have only just informed you and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a decision they made yesterday.    Good luck in your endeavours in obtaining a satisfactory outcome.  It would be my last cruise with them as well.

As per the original post the shuttle in Porto was free for all passengers. I suspect some form of sponsorship!

The one in Lisbon was free for Select booking but otherwise £2 per trip (with a maximum of £4 it said)

Much appreciated, thank you very much.  I did read you said it was free, but having been to Porto only once before (Celebrity), it was chargeable but couldn't recall the amount although, I'm sure it will have increased in price.  Nice to know some things in life are still free!!!

We are travelling to Miami airport to join vision of the seas in April for the transatlantic crossing, we are staying at the embassy suites in ft Lauderdale can anyone suggest a reasonable transfer as we are in our late 60s   Thanks

I think JohninDC is a little out of touch with regards to the taxi pricing for your journey.  Pre Covid, we ordered and pre paid  a taxi from Miami to Fort Lauderdale and it was $120 then.  We needed a child seat so I don't know whether that made a difference to the pricing but the US is like the UK, everything has gone up.  Our niece who is hopefully going to Florida in June has reported car rental doubling since the last time they were there, 3 years ago.  Uber would be a better bet I think but I have no idea if it is a relatively easy thing to do via a UK mobile.

Not if they really CLEANED the ship.  We were on Majesty cruise before drydock and a cruise after and tables in bar were just as dirty as before and they told us they were going to clean.  Someone needs to teach them how to clean not give tables, etc. a "lick and a promise."

Couldn't have said it better myself.  Well done

  20. Agreed.  We too live in the North (Durham) so appreciate you're not quite home once you arrive at Heathrow.  A hotel might be an alternative, the nearest ones are probably the Holiday Inn (virtually opposite Bayside Market Place), the Double Tree (walkable to Bayside) or the Inter Continental.  Having never booked a day room, I am sorry but cannot comment on day rates.

  21. We stayed in the Villas earlier this year.  It was absolutely shockingly dirty and no-one was interested in doing anything about it.  Rust on the light fittings, mould on the walls and there was at least a months dust on the TV.  I can understand the hotel cleaners not bothering, as its so old fashioned and over used and the saying is you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.  Look elsewhere or refuse to take a room in the villas end, thats my advice.
