    Home lines and HAL use to go to Bermuda a lot !! Been there on 10 cruise on Homes lines 5 times HAL 2 times Bermuda stat line one on the Fantasy cruise Amer. and one with Princess the last time we cruised there was on the Crown princess !! Out at the dock yard !! The only ship that did Hamilton was the Veendam .But HAL pull her off the Bermuda run !! No ships go to Hamilton or St George any more Only some time the smaller ships doing an Tran Atlantic cruise !! All the ships are now docked at the Dock yard !! Not the best place to get around from !!

    Bill yes the last night"s aboard our Oceanic cruises were great to say the lest ! A funny story .We were just married in 1980 ! We wanted to go on a cruise .But our TA at the time said October wasn't a good time to take a cruise .So we went to Aruba witch was great .At that time there was only a few resorts there .So in march of 1981 we when back to out TA and wanted a summer cruise .Being that i grew up in Hoboken NJ and my grandfather was from Holland And HAL was in Hoboken for many years .leaving in 1963 !! Atlot of the captains at that time on HAL were very good friends with my grandfather ,they use to stay at our house between voyagers ! It was the line i wanted to go on !! Our TA said i can"t put you young people on HAL !! It"s for the older people !! And he said i am going to put you 2 on the Oceanic !! I was 25 and my wife was 22 at that time !! I remeber that cruise like it was yesterday .I can still remember driving up to the pier and seeing the ship !! And we had a Bon Vo. party with i think around 15 people We rented one of them cabanas by the pool .Nobody wanted to get off !! Boy that was when going out on cruises from NYC was the best !!

     

    Now days cruises are more like going to a resort ! We loved getting dress up every night .Bill remember the hallways stairs outside the dinning room before dinner on the Oceanic !! We still keep in touch we people we met on that cruise ! Bill what ever happen to Stanly Kay ?

     

    Love our great memory's of the Oceanic and other Home line ships we have been on ! I was at the pier when the Oceanic left NYC for the last time in 1985 !! I got to take a tour of her a few years ago when she came back to NYC for the first time since 1985 as the Peace boat !!Oh a good friend of mine is Bill Miller you may have had him on one of your world cruise taking a gout the old ocean liners !!

    Wow Bill Gable our first ever CD !! Bill the Oceanic was our first of 76 cruises ! .you were the CD on our first ever cruise July 4th 1981 cruise on the beloved Home Lines Oceanic to Bermuda & Nassau ! You know what they say Bill you never forget your first love :rolleyes: And the Oceanic was our first cruise ship love affair ! It got us started with cruising back then, we had just gotten married the year before ! Been all over the world on cruise ships and just about every cruise line ! Oh do you remember one of your assistant CD on the Oceanic on that cruise named Rick Spath ? Well we cruised with him meany times on Sitmar cruises HAL and Disney cruise lines ! Bill the only cruise lines that even come close to to Home Lines is the high end lines for service and food now :eek: We still say the Oceanic was the best Italian restaurant we ever had dinner at :D We cruised the Oceanic 2 times with Home lines and 3 times as the Big Red boat when our boy"s were young ! We also cruised on the Doric the Atlantic and Homric !! We were on the Homric"s cruise july 4th 1986 for during the reopening of the Statue of liberty !! The Homeric was in the parade of ships !! I believe Stanly Kay i think his name is was the CD for that cruise ! When did you retire ?

    Let me tell you how great the Cara C was we have been on 76 cruises all over the world since 1981 ..But i remember the cruise on her back in july 4th cruise 1982 as if it was yesterday ! Oh by the way the first time we ever flow to the cruise !! And we love that fact that all the pools were on the stern !! So you could see and feel like you were on the ocean !! But when Costa got the meager ship"s and when Carnival took them over they are more or lest a European version of Carnival !! Just not the same :(:(:(:(

    Our first ever cruise was back in july 4th 1981 on the Home lines Oceanic:D to Bermuda ans Nassau from NYC.We were in our early 20"s then and just this past feb. we did our 70th cruise on the Noordam an 11 day S Caribbean cruise first winter cruise from NYC we love it no flying !! Been on every cruise out today and alot that are not around anymore .Love trying a new ship everytime out :D

    Our first ever cruise was back in july 4th 1981 on the Home lines Oceanic:D to Bermuda ans Nassau from NYC.We were in our early 20"s then and just this past feb. we did our 70th cruise on the Noordam an 11 day S Caribbean cruise first winter cruise from NYC we love it no flying !! Been on every cruise out today and alot that are not around anymore .Love trying a new ship everytime out :D

    Wow i"m just sitting here reading this .It"s like it was yesterday for me !! My first son on that cruise is going to the Navy academy later this year after graduate .He would someday like to make Cap. on a cruise ship .He and his brother has been on over 20 cruises .He"s 17 now .He loves going on cruises .not so the younger son !! Yes i remember now that fire.Boy that must have been scary !! I really like Legends in concert !! I wish more cruises lines would use it too insted of the same old shows!! Great everytime we saw it on BRB !! We alway got the tuck in at night for the boy"s on all our BRB cruises !! And the breakfast with them too !! All & All i think it was as good as Disney is today !! The cruise .You guy"s did a great job . You know after 70 cruises .I still remember the Majesty & Oceanic cruise as being great !!! I belong to the Worldship port of NY branch .And telling them i was taking the family on the BRB .You should have saw there faces !! I would alway get how could they do that to the Oceanic!! I still love her .And hoping we can get on her with Pullmenta cruises before they take her out of service .A friend of mine did her last summer and said she"s uin good shape for her age !!

    Hi wow you were on the same cruise . The Majestic was a very small ship .But we had a great time .Also on that vacation it was the first time we were on the Oceanic since she left Home Lines . Having cruise on her a few times .Do you remember having the night time show's on the beach with the Majestic in the back round !!We have video"s of us with my son who was 6 months old at the time floating in the water in a tube !! We love that island .And yes we would have been very disappointed if the ship could not have made it to the Abco"s !! Also on the Oceanic we did Blue Lagoon island .At that time it was free .You didn"t have to buy it like we did on latter cruises on the BRB.Also a great out island .One of our favorites !! The B2B cruises we did on both was was made a great 7 day cruise !! I would do it again today if offer !! I love the Veendam i had lunch on her in NYC this past fall in NYC.Been on her 4 times !! She still looked great !! We may do a full Pamma canal cruise on her in 2010 if they offer it ! You know i just had maybe the best cruise i ever had on HAL on the Noordam .I love anytime dinning . I also found the food in the main dinning room to be the best i have ever had on HAL .Now it was always good before. But i did fine it on the bleand side. Not on this cruise .Maybe some of the best meal"s i have had on any cruise in some time !!I also remember we would stay a few day's after our cruises on the BRB in Port Car. i would head over to jetty park to see the ship go out !! I love that park .Have a great time on the Veendam.

    Hi we did the Doric Oceanic Atlantic and Homeric. Alot of Home line fans and Travel agents didn"t like the Atlantic all that much !! She wasn"t as big a hit as the Doric Or Oceanic was !! Some would tell you she started the down fall of Home lines .I like her much better as the Star ship Atlantic .We did the Homeric on the july 4th cruise in 1986 it was her 6 cruise and Liberty weekend in NYC .We were in the parade of Ocean linners .By them Home line wasn"t the same still good, just not like it was before in the 60"s & 70"s and early 80"s !! The one word that will always come to mind for me when saying The Home Lines is The Oceanic !! Just came off HAL Noordam 11 day cruise round trip from NYC .Like the old times on the Oceanic winter cruise from NYC .HAL has the biggest past passgers of any cruise line .On my 11 day cruise it was over 80% of the passgers .We have cruise with them 7 times .The one thing i like about HAL is it"s the most like the cruises we have done on Home lines .just the food isn"t as good .But people get more dress up on HAL them most other cruise lines. Also HAL is Carnival"s biggest money marker of all the Carnival family of cruise lines !!

    Hi Tampa Mike . It couldn't have been said any better.We cruised on the BRB 4 times 2 on the Oceanic one on the Atlantic and one on the Majestic .From 1990 to 1998 . In may of 1991 we did back to back cruise on the Oceanic 3 day"s and 4 days on the Majestic to the Abaco"s .That was the best ports we ever done in the Bho. . Maybe you were on one of those cruises . The other 2 cruise was as part of B2B cruises .My boys were young then .The last time we did the BRB was on the Alandtic.On that cruise is when Disney was coming out for sure !! The long faces on the crew that cruise .They saw the end nearing!We love the BRB alot .Always had a great time .As good as the Disney we did outside of the ship!! We also did the American family cruise and like it alot !! But i could see where it wasn"t going to work !!We just got off the Noordam 11 days round trip from NYC .Love it .I think the best HAL of the 7 we have taken .Alot of people were mad that HAL was leaving NYC for wintertime cruises !!
