  1. I should have taken a picture of the costs. We had two options on board our ship. We could do the laundry ourselves. The ship has a little laundromat room or we could send out. We had overpacked so we didn’t do a lot of laundry but we did do a pair of pants. I believe the cost was $1.40. We sent them in the morning and had them back In a few hours. We met  some wonderful people on the ship and they are still cruising (they chose the 14 day cruise). If they will send me a picture of the laundry costs, I will post it later.

  2. We returned from a Danube cruise on Monday. We were on the Amamagna. Beautiful ship and a wonderful crew. We started in Vilshofen and ended in Budapest.

It was cooler weather but better than we anticipated. It threatened rain daily but only rained in Cesky Krumlov. We didn’t spend a lot of time on the sun deck or even on our balcony but we loved the trip and all the tours.

I wish we had not packed so heavy and that we had done more laundry on the ship. I didn’t have as much time to souvenir shop as I wanted but still managed to fill a carry on suitcase… haha!

We learned so much and we will definitely be back. The people of Eastern Europe were wonderful and the countryside is magnificent.

Thanks to all those who helped on this thread!

I will be a first time cruiser on Viking Budapest to Amsterdam, boarding May 27th. I just discovered this forum and thread as I was searching water level information. I’ve read about all the lock issues and became nervous, but now realize I was reading about the transition from winter to spring. I look forward to learning more over the next 40 days or so before I become a Cruise Critic. Thanks for all the information so far.

Please let us know back how your cruise was. I would be interested.

     Thanks!

  4. We will be taking our first river cruise on the Amamagna With a stay in Munich pre-trip in two weeks.  I love reading your posts and learning about the different ports and water levels. Thanks for taking the time to share. I wonder if anyone could address souvenir shopping in the different ports. Do they give you time after your tours to shop? Do most shop owners speak English. We are very excited and are looking forward to traveling more after “getting our feet wet” with this cruise.

Thanks for any help or any suggestions.
