Mine is even later. I’m going next June.
The anticipation is killing me! But it’s fun reading up on fjords.

We are doing Silversea this July
I’m excited for you! I wish we were going sooner than next May.

I have a little over a year to come up with some Norwegian myself. My cruise is in June 2024.
For some reason I thought it was a difficult language to learn. Doing some googling, I’m learning it’s not as hard as I thought. There is hope for me!

Thanks for checking out the channel! I'll have a video about the Norway cruise posted long before you go! It might take me a couple of months.
I look forward to seeing it!

I wouldn’t bother with more than a few greeting words in Norwegian. I think you will find the locals speak very good English.
From what I understand, that’s all I’ll be able to easily learn!

You might do better learning some Catalan for Barcelona. When I was there locals weren't anxious to speak Spanish. By the way, I tried to learn some Catalan, and gave up. It is a VERY difficult language.
I looked for Catalan on my Duolingo app without success. Maybe I’ll give up the remedial Spanish and start learning Norwegian for the next cruise!

We'll let you know how it was!
Please do! I’m excited about this trip already and it’s over a year away. We have a trans Atlantic cruise in 6 months starting in Barcelona so I’m brushing up on my high school Spanish. Then I have to delve into Norwegian, improve my Swedish (learned from grandma), and try to pick up a few phrases in Danish. I’m anxious to hear about your entire trip so please don’t hold back thinking you’re boring me. Safe travels!
edit: just found your YT channel. I’ll be exploring it today.

Lots of them in formation around Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo. You need to explore possibilities in Nordfjordeid more closely. It is a small town with few options nearby.
Which port - Skagen?

I was looking at the wrong, longer cruise. We hit the same ports in Norway, then Gothenburg in Sweden, then Aalborg and Copenhagen in Denmark. We embark from Southampton and head straight to Bergen. No other UK ports which is fine with me. For now. We’ll hit those some other time!

Which other Norwegian ports of call?
Bergen, Nordfjordeid, Stavanger, and Oslo. We visit Denmark and the UK too.

But... the two fjords that others mentioned will not be available for normal cruise lines after 2024, happen to be the two that everyone says you shouldn't miss! So, I think it's still worth trying to go by 2024. We're on a Holland America cruise next month departing and returning Amsterdam. It's a bit of a larger ship than you want. We chose it because it goes into Geiranger, and it's a ship that has received lots of good feedback.
We just booked a cruise this morning! We chose it because it goes to Geiranger and Flam. There weren’t many room choices available - I think others are scrambling to see those fjords too.

Not correct. Zero emissions zone in the world heritage fjords is by 2026 - It is possible that there will be a transition period during which ships powered by bio-LNG can sail the fjord until 2030. After that, zero emissions, which will mainly mean propulsion by electricity.
More research I have to do. Bringing Norwegian fjords cruises back to the top of my list of things to do.

The pressure for a second cruise in 2024 is back on! Thank you. I really don’t want to miss those 2 fjords. My cruise research has taken the front seat again!

Thank you everyone! I’ve learned a lot from your replies, not just what ships to look into. I’ve learned June is a better time to go than spring, how to navigate this site (where to look for cruise info), seen two amazing videos, and learned not *all* fjords are closing to ships in 2026. Y’all are wonderful sources of information!

We did Norway out of London on Silversea. The added bonus is departing from Tower Bridge. A fabulous experience.
Sounds like a great time!

Correct - only Flåm and Geiranger are located in the world heritage fjords - but not necessarily zero emission after 2026.
Thank you for this level of detail. I’m no longer feeling pressured to get this cruise squeezed in next year.

Add Saga to your list as well. (As long as you are old enough to fit their age requirement - over 50 )
We’re well over 50! Thanks for the recommendation.

I want to book a Norway fjord cruise before they’re shut down! At this time I’m not especially interested in other countries but willing to embark anywhere nearby, not just Norway. About April or May 2024, on a small ship < 800 passengers or so. (Pulled that number out of my ear) The smaller the better. I’m all of a sudden getting anxious thinking time is running out and I have to book now. Any suggestions on cruise lines?
What to do with all of those photos?

I hear you! With over 2,300 photos I’m trying to sort them into albums on my phone, then I’ll decide if I want hard copy albums or not. I don't have grandkids so it’s scary how large a collection I might have had!
