  1. Two weeks to go before we board for our "Journey to Jamaica" cruise. We have constantly been checking on Marella cruise control, done excursions, speciality restaurants and luggage tags but we have been unable to book an appointment in the spa. Anyone have any idea when this is possible or do we have to wait until we are onboard.

  2. Hi there folks

We are travelling on Explorer 2 to Jamaica and we have picked up on various notes about a C5 form. Does this have to be done by us before we start our cruise? Alternatively is this done by Marella for us if it is necessary? We disembark in Montego Bay before taking a flight out later in the day. Any advice for virgin cruisers would be appreciated.

  3. Hi folks, I have heard that when the ship is in Spanish waters or ports the bar staff are obliged to impose a tax on drinks even if you have an all inclusive drinks package. Is anyone aware of this or experienced a larger than expected bill at the end of their cruise? Hopefully Tui inform their guests about this. I was not aware of this at the time of booking.

  4. We are arriving in Montego Bay (Marella "Journey to Jamaica") in the early morning but our flight out is not until 17:50. Will we have time to go on a quick excursion bearing in mind we would prefer to be at the airport about 14:00? Is this cutting it a bit fine?

  5. We are really excited about our first cruise on board the Explorer 2. Perhaps you more seasoned cruisers could help us. We are on this cruise in a few months and we have heard about the "Dress to Impress" nights which could occur twice on our cruise. Would anyone be able to inform us if this takes place in the speciality restaurants like The Dining Club, Kora La or Surf and Turf or does it apply to all the restaurants?

    Hi Jammowem.

    From Marellas online site.

    19) Can I take electrical items onboard a Marella Cruise ship?

In your cabin personal grooming items such as hairdryers, travel irons, curling tongs, hair straighteners and shavers are permitted when used with proper caution. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard, they will be removed and returned on the last day of the cruise prior to disembarkation. We also ask that all electrical equipment is turned off when you leave the cabin and not left on charge.
You may bring a four-way adapter or extension lead onboard, but we ask that you let our Cruise Team know so that these can be tested.

    22) Can I take a travel iron on a Marella Cruise ship?

You may take a travel iron on the ship, however if the device is determined to pose a hazard they will be removed and returned on the last day of the cruise prior to disembarkation. There's also a laundry service onboard the ships where you can pay for your clothes to be pressed on-demand. If you've chosen a cabin with premier service, you get a free pressing service for the formal night.

I would imagine that a steamer would come under section 22.)

as an aside we have never been asked to get any adapters tested.

    Hope this helps.😉

    Thanks

  7. Hi folks

Travelling on Explorer 2 later in the year. As virgin cruisers we're not to sure what electrical gadgets can go on board. We know the ship provides a laundry service but can you take a steamer( to drop creases) to use in the cabin? Obviously toothbrushes and razors are allowed but we just need clarification on hair dryers and tongs. Would a EU to UK extension lead be permitted?

Thank you for the advice from you more knowledgeable seafarers

  8. We are 1st time cruisers travelling on the Journey to Jamaica cruise in November. Was there a similar cruise to this last year? If so, when would the " Dress to Impress Nights" if any be? Are we to assume this would apply to one of the speciality restaurants like The Dining Club or Kora La? We have also heard about "White" nights and "Bright " nights. Could someone please give us the heads up about this. We definitely want to throw ourselves into the experiences onboard.
