IMHO, Doubtful that any of the waterpark related activities will be open until the CDC gives the cruise lines the "All Clear" to resume full operations, and highly doubtful that the Bahamas will allow any of its workers to move back and forth between Coco Cay and their home island until they are certain that the virus can't be carried back with them. I expect that for the foreseeable future, Coco Cay will feel a lot more like it did before the "Perfect Day" enhancements were added.

Thank you. That's what I thought it might be, but I didn't know if maybe these items didn't show up until within a year of the cruise or something.

  2. Yes, in cruise planner,  under shore excursions for Coco Cay there are no waterpark items listed. There are only beach club, oasis, and swimming with pigs or stingrays. When I booked wp passes on a canceled cruise, that's where I found them.

  3. I went back a few pages to look, and it's been a LOOOOONG time since I cruised or visited the boards here, so be gentle!

I have a cruise booked end of November 2021, and under the excursions for Coco Cay no waterpark activities appear at all. Are they not booking these yet? Or are they available closer to cruising? Thanks in advance for answers!

  4. There is no relative, not even my sister, that I would take a week off of work for, and spend thousands of dollars to fly across the country for just for a wedding. The only person for whom I would spend that amount of time and money on a wedding is my daughter, and I would warn her that she's be unlikely to see anyone else at her wedding if that was her choice of venues.

  5. I prefer to book direct with carnival because I've seen too many times on here where someone booked ES and a TA never responded in time to catch lower fares. Even if I have a screenshot, I can't deal with the hassle and annoyance.

My last carnival cruise was booked through a PVP because we had 15 people going, needed various category rooms, some connecting rooms, 13 new to Carnival passengers, 5 credit cards, etc. He got it done.

When we returned he called the lead passenger in each room for future business. I told him that my family of three would absolutely not be cruising until summer 2016, but we would be a party of 7 needing 3 rooms, two of which needed to be connecting balconies. He called me twice more and I reminded him of that.

Then when those dates opened for booking, I never heard from him or anyone end at carnival. Our plans have changed, but had I gotten a call we may have still booked one cabin for three people. His and Carnival's loss.

We are also able to book much better travel insurance than what is offered by Carnival/PVP's, so unless there is a very special offer made by promotions department to us, PVP's are becoming less valuable to us to use for Carnival bookings.

I never use Carnival or any other company's insurance that's offered. You are always free to get that elsewhere whether you use a PVP or TA or any other booking means.

  6. Connecting rooms usually cannot connect balconies.

In general (but not always) you cannot remove the balcony divider between the room to the side where your balcony door is. Connecting rooms will connect on the balcony door side.

  7. We are booked on the Pride over Halloween next year and for an extended balcony for 4 it cost us $2800.

We actually snagged one of the bowling alley balconies :)

We booked in July 2014 for October 2015. We got a nice balcony rate $584 w/o the taxes and fees. We've been on the Pride twice before, but both times in February, but since the ship won't be in Baltimore this February, we chose October.

How does your price on an October cruise help OP?

OP, with the time frame you are looking to sail, you're running in to the time when schools in driving distance let out for summer, so you're hitting peak pricing. I wouldn't count on it coming down much. How about moving it back about 2 weeks?

  8. A note....when she DOES change her name, put her maiden name as her middle name....that bridges any "gaps" in identification. So, if she's Mary Lou Smith, and marries Bobby Jones, she should list her name as Mary Smith Jones. Saves a TON of hassle!

You should not do that if that isn't your legal name. My passport can't legally say Jane smith jones, because my legal name is Jane Mary Jones, and I used to be Jane Mary Smith.

  9. It is very easy (and free) to update the passport. Follow the directions on the state department website and mail it in.

It's been at least 10 years since it was "easy and free" to change a name on a passport. Probably closer to 12.

  10. It is an open loop cruise. You will need a passport or passport card, per the US Dept of State, unless you are under 16.

    Traveling by Sea?

All adult U.S. citizens arriving by sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the Caribbean must have a passport.*

    • Either a passport book or passport card may be used.
    • All U.S. citizens may apply for a passport card.
    • To learn more about the passport card, including how to apply and the differences between the passport book and passport card, please visit our U.S. Passport Card page.

*"Closed-Loop" Cruises: If you are a U.S. citizen, and you board a cruise ship at a U.S. port, travel only within the Western Hemisphere, and return to the same U.S. port on the same ship, you may present government-issued photo identification, along with proof of citizenship (an original or certified copy of your birth certificate, a Consular report of Birth Abroad, or a Certificate of Naturalization). Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the foreign countries your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruise line to ensure you have the appropriate documents.

U.S. citizen children under age 16 arriving by sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the Caribbean may present an original or certified copy of his or her birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or Certificate of Citizenship.

As for the importance of having a passport: DH and I have passports because we fly internationally. DD(5) only has a passport card because she has only cruised and we have a road trip to Canada planned. We don't foresee any international flights before her passport card expires when she's 8, but if we should decide to, we will obviously upgrade her. If passports for minors lasted 10 years, we would have just gone ahead and gotten her a passport book instead of the card when we applied, because we know we will fly internationally in that time period. Having her cruise without a passport book was a risk we chose to take, knowing emergency documents could be obtained for her if needed.

  11. Not even a smidge. My carbon footprint is minuscule compared to the average American, and that's just the nature of my lifestyle, not a conscious effort to be green.

Do you feel guilty about the amount of electricity you used to get online and post this question?

  12. Also, is there a known reason why they would restrict access to these inputs on the cabin TV's??

Likely because if you're in your cabin watching tv, playing online, playing with a gaming system, paying with your computer, etc., then you're not out spending money on drinks, in the casino, or anywhere.

  13. I can't get over the fact that you can't get over the fact of flying in the day of the cruise! ;)

I've always done it, including Euro cruises with a connecting flight, where we flew out the night before. Have not missed a ship yet.

To each his own but don't judge.

*thumbs up* Not everyone has unlimited vacation time to spend at leisure.

The water on the northern end of your cruise will be colder and rougher than the Caribbean. Enjoy!

  14. You know Cincinnati International Airport is actually in Hebron, Kentucky!!!

And for that matter the Dallas-Fort Worth airport is in neither Dallas or Fort Worth, yet American Airlines sells thousands of tickets a day claiming to take people to Dallas and/or Fort Worth.

I for one am quite outraged.

Well, now I will NEVER!!! go to Cincinnati!
