  1. I followed this helpful guidance and indeed about another 5 available cabins were shown in addition to the one that the system had auto allocated to me; they were all cabins in close proximity to the auto allocated one. Even when I selected an alternative one the system did not recognise the new cabin that I had selected and was still showing the original cabin. So does anyone know how to see all available cabins in the selected category (V2 in this instance) rather than just the half dozen that the system shows; and then how do you get the system to recognise that you have selected an alternative to the original cabin? Surely you do not have to call Azamara to find out about cabin availability on any cruise that you are interested in. No other cruise line website that I have looked at (Viking, Celebrity, HAL, Princess) works this way; they all show you every available cabin in the category that you have chosen, even across different decks and both fore and aft.
  2. Thanks to the various responders and particularly to this latest one from someone who seems to be very active on this forum especially as regards Azamara. Having spent over an hour reading about all the Azamara problems following their sale by RCCL and particularly all the IT issues I think I will give them some time to sort everything out before booking with them. I do like their smaller ship set up and the intensive nature of several of their cruises with the emphasis on the destination ports but they seem to be beset with problems at the moment. Also their onboard guest relations seems to be pretty awful judging from the YouTube vlog that I have seen from 'Paul and Carole love to travel' (regular cruise vloggers) from 6 months ago entitled 'Azamara Quest .... we were shocked by how badly we were treated' Well worth watching although I accept that no overall conclusions can be drawn from one bad review.
  3. I am a new member of this forum and apologise if this issue has already been raised by someone else. I am looking to book my first cruise and have been browsing some of the cruise line websites. Not to make an actual reservation but just to get an idea of price/availability etc. They all seem to allow the user to see what cabins are available on the selected cruise, apart from Azamara. On their website after selecting the type of cabin (I chose V1) the next screen wanted all my personal details, so I filled out this screen only to find on the next screen that a specific cabin had been allocated to me and there did not seem to be any way to click anywhere to change this cabin or see what the choice of available cabins was in the V1 category. At this point I gave up and logged out (I had already created an Azamara account beforehand). Is this the way the Azamara website operates (ie automatically allocating a cabin without any choice in the matter) or am I doing something wrong?
  4. That sounds like a very good deal for a solo traveller (as per your earlier post). Do you mind me asking whether this is for 'interior, oceanview, or veranda? Also did you perhaps book this way in advance in order to secure a better price? A Med/Adriatic cruise is one of the possibilities that I am considering and I'm sure you'll have a great time.
  5. Many thanks to the latest responders to my original posting. Lots of food for thought! Not sure I would feel comfortable with the 'ship within a ship' concept of the MSC Yacht Club especially jumping to the head of a queue (line). This seems to be something of a throwback to the old class system on cruise liners with the toffs in first class and the plebs in steerage. I think Celebrity do something similar with their Aqua Class. This seems to be a very friendly and helpful forum and it's great to get responses from all round the globe (Australia, Canada, many different US states and one closer to home in Scotland). Thanks again.
  6. Thanks for your response. I'm early 70's and most definitely do not want the sort of high energy 'theme park' experience with umpteen thousand passengers and kids running amok that some cruise lines seem to offer. The smaller ship luxury end of the market that you seem to favour is much more appealing to me. However these sort of cruises do not come cheap and an additional problem for me is that I will be cruising solo which seems to work out very expensive with up to 100% single supplements. Fair enough for the cabin (stateroom) where I don't object to paying double; but when it comes to the meals and other included items it seems a nonsense to have to pay for my non existent second passenger. It was because of the potential high cost for me in booking a cruise that I raised the subject on this forum of all the negative feedback on Trustpilot. Out of interest have you sailed at all with Viking as they seem to fit the sort of profile that I am looking for?
  7. Just enter the name of the Cruise line in the search bar (eg Celebrity Cruises) and you will then be presented with a few options to click on (eg Celebrity.com or Celebrity.co.uk)
  8. Thanks for the welcome. I absolutely agree that praise is important when it is deserved. Indeed some of the comments on Trustpilot are complimentary about different Cruise lines, but the vast majority are complaints. Hope your 'retiree training' (which I assume partly refers to cruising) is going well.🙂
  9. In answer to the first 2 Responders Trustpilot is an online forum for consumers to provide commentary and feedback on all manner of different businesses, similar sort of principle to Tripadvisor. I'm pretty sure that it is not confined to the UK and covers the US too. Google them and read all the terrible comments about all the different Cruise lines (Celebrity, MSC, HAL, Norwegian etc) they all get consistently slated!
  10. I am new to this forum, have never been on a cruise, but am thinking of doing so. What concerns me are the quite dreadful reviews that appear on Trustpilot for all the Cruise lines, even the super luxury lines like Silversea or Regent 7 Seas. If the consistently low ratings and reviews that appear on Trustpilot are to be believed then I would be well advised to never go on a cruise! I would be very interested to hear the thoughts of other members of this forum; are all these Cruise lines as bad as the reviews suggest? Thanks in advance to all who take the trouble to respond.
