  1. I was working on booking my specialty dining for our upcoming cruise, and noticed that the sushi bar/pinnacle lounge doesn't offer reservations for this restaurant. Do we even have to use a specialty dining "ticket" for this restaurant? Does anyone know how it is? Are we just allowed to come to this bar to drink?

If you have your heart set on certain restaurants on certain days &/or times, you probably will benefit from staying up past midnight to make the reservations.  Be sure to book any "Set-Fee" restaurants (such as: Moderno) first, before booking the rest, otherwise you will be charged up-front.

I have the specialty dining pass that comes with FAS, and purchased two more. Is there anything special I need to do reservation wise?

There are very few scheduled Norfolk departures, and sailings out of Baltimore are iffy now due to the bridge problem - but I have heard that they are likely to go from Norfolk.   If cost is a major concern, you should widen your horizon to include New York, Charleston and Florida sailings - where the vastly wider choice (including cost of air) could prove economical.

The only reason I am limited to departure ports, is that traveling in a car with my elderly mom that far may be a challenge. So a 3 ish hour trip is about all she could handle.

Why would they be so deep that you cannot stand with a drink?  To prevent the below:

All inclusive resorts or hotels in a warm climate that has a swim up bar, you see people there for hours drinking and they never leave their spot for ANY REASON.

This is part of the larger pool and in my opinion, you are just swimming in a toilet.

There are two types of people in this world.

Those who pee in pools, and those who are liars.

Take a cab - About $70/80 per cab each way plus tip.

Never visited, never tasted any of their expressions.

Without a good tasting, no interest in a visit.

There should be reviews on TripAdvisor.

If considering a Distillery visit and wanting a scenic visit and a clean/sanitised tour, then Depaz or Clement on Martinique (both good Rhum).
But for a real experience with steam driven leviathans, with Rhum made and bottled by hand, then La Favourite is a must.  Their Rhums are superb, especially La Filbuste.

La Favourite tastings are noted because all Rhum is there, with the shop prices equal to and sometimes lower than Duty Free at Port. Port Retailers are there to make a profit.

Where are all of these distillers?

There isn’t a Thermal suite like you get on the newer ships. With lots of loungers, great views, steam, sauna, infrareds saunas, hydro pools with an access charge. There was a men’s and women’s sauna and a steam room.

What was the charge to use the Sauna/steam room?

    Thank you for the info.

One issue blue_water hasn't included on his list is how easy it is to enter and exit the water at some of the beaches.

Lindqvist/Smith Bay and Lindbergh have steeper shorelines and some people have difficulty getting out of the water. Not an issue at Magens and Coki.

Can others comment on ease of entry?

Maybe adding travel time from Port would be a nice addition as well

Is the request for recommendations for a Rum Bar?
One’s preference is The Mezzanine, which has a diverse selection at all price points.
They have a happy hour (?) for 4 hours from 4 pm.

Their Tapas and small plates food is good.  Great OSJ atmosphere.

But there are many Bars all over OSJ… No doubt CC will give alternatives for consideration.

Thank yoi - we are looking for a distillery to bring some rum home, but also tour as well.

  9. Does anyone have suggestions for easy to get to rum house when we are at Port in San Juan for the day? The only ones I have found are thr Scryer rum house, and Ron Del Barillito.

  10. Ok, thank you for the info. We are leaving 3 hours to get to our hotel parking (which shouldn't hit traffic on the way in), which leaves at the top of the hour. Worst case, if we arrive a few minutes after 3, we can just uber over the 6 minute drive. That will leave us just under 3 hours prior to boarding to arrive at the airport.

  11. We will be flying from Dulles to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on a Tuesday evening at 5:45. I was just wondering when I should plan to arrive at my parking spot. According to google, it is a 1 hour and 45 minute drive to the hotel where we reserved parking, and the shuttle ride should take ten minutes. Would leaving at noon provide us enough time to get to the parking, shuttle over, and check in on the flight? We would be driving up 81 and over into Dulles.

  12. With my cruise that I booked this summer, booking through NCL was only another $100 or so, from the several places I called around to. It started getting exhausting having them call me continually to try to get me to book, so I just booked with NCL directly. My cruise consultant has been spectacular so far.

  13. I was wondering what time I should arrive at the cruise port in Miami for my cruise on the Sky this summer. The departure time is 5:30. My only real concern with arriving early would be to make sure we can make our dining reservations for the 3 meals we have paid for. It is a 9 day cruise, so we want to be sure we can use those reservations on certain days when we aren't too beat. Should be plan to arrive at Port before noon, or do you think if we arrive at 2 or so, that we will be able to make specialty dining reservations for the days we want?
