  1. The problem is that we had wanted to go to Haleakala for sunrise. Kind of a crazy hour to wait for a taxi or Uber. We have been there before so will survive if we don't do it. Never realized that parking would be such an issue this time! Thank you for your advice & concern!

  2. Thanks, pizza lady! I have read that thread & guess that Maui Beach is still the only place near the dock where you can park legally. We did the same cruise in 2011 and as I recall, we parked near the ship, no charge, no problem. Guess times have changed . . . We do want to do sunrise at Haleakala so I guess we will have to be brave & walk to the Maui Beach at 3:30 AM! Still interested in any recent experiences, though.

  3. Hi, we will be on the POA and in Maui on 9/3 and 9/4. We have reserved a rental car & made a reservation for sunrise on Haleakala on 9/4. I was wondering if anyone has had recent experience with parking near the ship. Getting to the airport rental place at 3:30 AM would no doubt be a big problem! Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated!

  4. Trip Advisor City Guides is amazing. It uses GPS, not wifi so you can use it to get from attraction to attraction. It includes restaurants as well as attractions for many cities both in the U.S. and around the world. We found it to be invaluable on a recent trip to Paris. And it is "free!"

  5. Hi Raina,

I can't believe that I entirely missed this blog while you were writing. It was wonderful and it looks like you and your daughter had a fantastic time. We were booked on this cruise, but had to cancel because of the serious illness of a close family member (in retrospect, we could have gone, but who knew?). We are now booked on a similar cruise next year on Serenade OTS. I subscribed to your blog so that I can use it for reference next year (Linda's, too). Wish we could have met, but happy that all went well for you.

Thanks again, now I almost feel that I have "been there!"

  6. Linda, thank you so much for this wonderful blog. As I mentioned earlier, we had booked the July 27 cruise, but had to cancel because of illness in the family. Reading your blog was like a virtual cruise! We have a deposit on the 7/26/15 cruise, I will definitely reread your blog before we (hopefully) sail!

  7. Linda, Thank you so much for this blog. We were booked on the July 27 Legend cruise, but had to cancel because of a close family member's illness. We are now booked for the July 26, 2015, cruise. We, too, were planning to do the RCCL Riga "Jewish" tour (one of my grandmothers grew up nearby, another was from Palanga, near Klaipeda). It sounds like the tour was very moving, I cried just reading the description. Nevertheless, we feel like we should do it . . . Now I am looking forward to hearing about St Petersburg. We, too, were going to use Alla. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and I know that I will enjoy reading about it!
