Just after they finished stage one construction they realized they screwed up the docks for small boats. Either my google-fu is bad or my memory is fudged because i can't find info now. They were building a overnight anchor small boat marina and didn't listen to or hire consultants and the location picked was a cluster-fudge for small private boats to navigate and anchor in many weather conditions. Info was in one of the videos of making Ocean Cay long ago but now either i'm completely nuts or they have wiped info about the marina that was planned.

They definitely talk about it in the documentary that's on Tubi. The marina is on the side of the island that gets rougher water so they had to add that additional barrier to create a sheltered cove.

  2. Has anyone seen/heard anymore about the updates going on there?

I wish there was someone who did flyovers of the Bahamas like Bioreconstruct does for Orlando theme parks.

Am I right in saying that Ocean Cay is currently closed or due to be closed for some work to be done? The assumption was that it was to increase the dock capacity so World America could dock there, could it be that increased capacity will allow two ships to dock there? I hope not as it would make the island very busy.

Keep in mind that Ocean Cay is closed for upgrades but only for 46 days.

That doesn't feel like sufficient time to increase dock/turnaround area for a second ship to me.

  4. Yeah, as you can see above, not many craft options, but they do have a lot of beers if you want to mix in some European lagers.

@Stealthdog recently did a live cruise review that's worth reading through and he posted the entire beer menu from the Sports Bar. Other areas have much fewer options. It looks like Heineken is the default beer.

With streaming everything is possible. It is enough to have it in the menu for TV that.... if someone wanna, he can watch it.

Another issue is if they will play in the evening in Europe or whilst night (and Sports bar is closed).

    True.

    It is a Mediterranean cruise

Third day, departing Genova, at 21:00 local time

    - Albania Vs Spain

    - Italy Vs Croatia

at the same time (so two TV)

Ah yeah, I don't imagine you'll get much American CWS coverage on a European sailing.

I will sail on MSC by the end of June. I have checked and (apart of Formula 1 race on Sunday) in all the week there's only football Eurocup (Germany'2024). This is, no national sport (end of june) of any sports (football, basketball or whatever), no other international championships, not tennis (next week Wimbledon will start but in that week there's no tennis even minor championships).

College World Series runs up to the end of June, depending on your specific sailing dates.

First the positive - we love the concept of going to the room to get your room key once you enter the ship.  Most other lines give you your card when you check in and the room is unavailable until mid afternoon.

Yeah. That's new for me. I think every other cruise we've taken, they had the rooms gated off.

there were people outside the terminal building directing people inside, but no one asked what our boarding time was or asked to see our boarding pass.  The only time we showed it was at the security line and at the kiosks where you show passports where you get your photos done.  The lines were short and moving quickly.

Great to know. It probably depends on how busy they are at the time. Worth a try.

Some don’t like this advice, but go to port early.  If you have an afternoon boarding time, get there in the morning and get on the ship. It’s your vacation.  No one asked what our boarding time was (1130) at any point.

This is interesting as I think MSC tells you to show up no earlier than 30 minutes before your boarding time.

Are "cocktail of the day" included in

    Easy pack

    Easy plus pack

    ...?

Good question. It looks like the Ultimate Mai Tai is normally $13 based on the Fleetwide menu which would normally only put it on the Premium Package. Even at 20% off, it would still bring a a slight upcharge for the Easy Plus Package unless they do something special for drinks of the day.

  12. We're taking this same cruise this summer and would love it if you could look up what the current craft beer options are.

I don't have high hopes based on previous posts on here, but if you can post the latest menu from the Sports Bar once on-board, I would be grateful.
