  1. We have done both but prefer port aft. Always a balcony. Always with cabins above and below. I'm not so much stuck on left or right, but definitely pref aft. Port gives us the evening sunset on the way home and that is nice to see and photograph. On many of our cruises it is the port side that faces land when docked so we get some nice views there too. All that said, this time (29 Sep) we are starboard, but at the very last cabin (5293 on the Pride) since we needed 3 balconies in a row for family to help celebrate our 50th anniversary..
  2. Once we were on the ship it was very nice as many above have said. Not you typical Carnival ship. It was getting to and from the ship that was our problem. It took as long to get from the airport to the dock entrance as it did to fly from Detroit to the airport. It took 2 hours to get a wheel chair for my wife. The ship, as I said was very nice, but a bit large for our old legs. We much prefer the Pride or the Sunshine (especially Sunshine's Serenity waterfall). Going on the Pride next week and then on the Magic for our birthday's in January. Can't get here soon enough!
  3. We always get one. Often the top, but usualy the middle one. Sometimes we stream movies. We always use it for video calls back home with kids/grand-kids and phone calls using Google Voice since my cell phone does not work on the ship. Occasionally I need it for work video calls, but if I do that they pay for it so bonus. 😉
  4. We did the Venizia and didn't notice galley noise as much as smell. We were under the life boats so I guess it had nowhere else to go. Also we were under one of the smoking areas and noticed that too. Cabin 2301. We also had this large pipe on the one side and it used up a large part of the seating space. Other than that I enjoyed being closer to the water. Definitely a different view of things.
  5. Carnival Breeze 2012. However, we cruised on the Sea Princess in 1999 to Alaska, but that was before Carnival owned them. This cruise was also our very first. 25th wedding anniversary. Took years to get DW to go (snow everywhere! she said), but she has always wanted to go back. Maybe next year (50 years).
  6. I tested Skype and Google Voice a couple cruises back and they both worked for me.
