  1. Hi,

I was hoping to get insight/advice on the Princess Kauai by Helicopter tour #LIH-800 for an upcoming cruise. I would like to contact the actual tour operator. My concern is that my size (6'7" and a bit over 300 lbs.) would prevent me from being in a helicopter. I am in great health, very strong, physically active and require no assistance but size itself could be an issue. Does anyone know of a size restriction or how I might contact the tour operator for additional insight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Chad

It should tell you in the Tour description if there is a weight or size limit, but may I suggest "Wings over Kauai", it's a wonderful AirVan tour which runs about half the price of the Copter tours.

    Info here: https://www.wingsoverkauai.com/

  2. I'm "guessing" you can take any beverage to any venue on the ship, including your room, as there is no 'open container' laws on the ship itself - except for age, drunks, etc, etc, etc :beer-mug:

you may/will have to pay/have paid a 'corkage' fee of $ 15 per bottle for any wine taken to the mdr...disclaimer...not sure about taking a bottle into Vines but others have posted they have and with no problem and the staff actually engaged them in conversation about the wine...

Now, let the corrections and clarifications begin !:cocktail:

With all the nickel and diming these days, if the can is unopened they might charge you a "pop top" fee;p;p;p

  3. This has been beaten to death and there is only ONE truthful answer WE DON"T KNOW and Princess chooses not to divulge this information where your tips go. At least at home when I leave the usual 15 - 20% in a restaurant I know the server gets it.

That's not true either. Restaurants have different rules, some require the server to share his/her tips with the hostess or bar tender.

  4. I absolutely agree, anyway this is just one more pennypinching reason why Princess is no longer my first choice for cruises,

why Princess don't just have decent free regular coffee on all their ships like almost every other line I do not know.

Well actually I do know, they are too mean and nickel and diming to do it................. its very shortsighted of them, no way to encourage passenger loyalty, they get your money and then provide as little for it as they possibly can

And after 71 cruises on Princess I think I am qualified to comment, its going downhill big time

I am ashamed to be a stockholder in the company which owns Princess

    Agree:mad::mad:

  5. my son will be flying southwest tomorrow - he stated something about having the option to pay SW $ 15 per leg, and SW will check you in 36 hours before your flight to get a 'premium' seat

    just an option

That is not true, if you purchase the Early Bird boarding they will assign your boarding group #, 36 hours before your flight but you still have to check in online.

  6. I would disagree, but if you cannot finish it, they will wrap it in aluminum foil and you can store it in your stateroom refrigerator. We take it the next morning to the buffet and enjoy steak and eggs!

The last time we were on the Ruby, the waiter refused to let us take the left over steak back to the cabin. He stated something about food poisoning???? Never had that happen before:confused:

  7. Cancel for any reason is a credit not a a cash payment. Cancel for covered cause is given in cash.

As I stated before insurance payout, in this case a credit, is to the person named on the policy, no matter who paid for it. If you had asked for a refund prior to full payment date then the money would have been credited back to the credit card that was used to make the purchase. For all practical purposes once you passed final payment date the fact of who paid became non-material and the names on the policy took over.

Sounds like the plan is doing exactly what is stated to be. The difficulty appears to be in your understanding of how the policy works.

Pretty much your only recourse is to collect the money from your ex or take her to small claims court for damages. Keeping in mind that she cannot get cash either, only the refund in the form of a future cruise credit.

    (y)This is the correct answer!

  8. What I would like to see as "game changing" is that Princess get into the 21st century with modern internet. Yeah, I know they are "working on it". I just hope by the time it gets rolled out, they aren't behind in technology again. ***** is very ambitious and if they can deliver on the original promise then it is pretty "game changing" for Princess.

The other thing I would like them to go against the grain on is maintain the quality and ask us to pay reasonable cost increases. I don't want to pay the same price now as five years ago or five years from now and give up quality of food, drink and entertainment in the process.

    (y)

  9. The port facilities in Cabo are all privately or state owned. Carnival or any other cruise line did not pay for the facilities. While it may be common in the US/Canada to have free access to bathrooms, in other parts of the world like Europe it is common to have to pay to use the bathroom. It has to be cleaned and stocked so they put the cost on the user.

The difference is each port collects large port fees from the ships which should cover port facilities, IMHO

  10. Sorry I will disagree. I went thru this process late April.

1 - Cancel with Princess . They will send you a satement of the no refundable amount and the insurance claim phone number.

2 - Call the insurance company

3 -They will send you the insurance claim document and tracking number in the email.

4 - Fill out the form . In the reason you put "cancel for any reason"

5 - Then you can email , Fax or Postal Mail to them the paperwork ( including claim and confirmation from Princess)

6 - Then in about 19 days (if emailed) , you can call about the claim.

7 - When approved you'll get an email (easiest method & fastest) saying approved and funds are being transferred to Princess

8 - In a week Princess sends you a conformation.

This Method doesn't require a Doctors letter. Total time about 4 to 6 weeks.

If you claim full medical , you'll have to submit full documentation. If denied you lose your money.

Isn't that what I said and of course the first thing you do is notify Princess to stop the clock.

  11. If you purchased insurance thru Princess it's very easy and medical documentation isn't required.

Princess has a "Cancel for any Reason " option. They will give you all the information and cancellation notice with the penalty . You submit as Cancel for any reason , no documentation is required.

Other companies will require all the proper documentation.

This is not true, if you have Princess Insurance, you must submit your claim to the insurance company either way. If it is covered by the insurance you will get a check for the full amount, less the insurance premium. If it is denied, it is submitted back to Princess as a "cancel for any reason" and you will receive a credit with Princess for the amount specified by your policy useable within one year on Princess Cruises.

  12. Thank you all for the information on the medical facility, much, much appreciated. Yes, this is a Panama Canal cruise and yes the issue is gall stones. If it was like her prior situation she would not require surgery but would require fluids, pain medication, and antibiotics.

I have looked into regular travel insurance and Med-Vac Assist but the cost is very high because of her age. That is main reason we chose the Princess Insurance because it is the same cost no matter the age. Of course that was prior to her gall bladder attack and even if she wanted to consider it now it likely would be considered a pre-existing condition and not cover her anyway.

Her GI Doctor has said there are no easy answers. He said she may never have another attack or she could have one tomorrow. He also encouraged us to go on the cruise so we are now leaning in that direction.

Again thanks for all of the information - while much of it backs up what I think I already knew it does confirm some of the information and I learned a few new things.

    Jill

I don't understand why when she had the attack they didn't remove her gallbladder and be done with it. Even if it was inflamed and needed antibiotics to calm it down for a few days, gallbladder surgery is a day surgery which means it's done in the morning and you go home that night. Eating rich cruise ship food would not be a bet I would want to take. If she has another attack on the ship she would most likely have to be evacuated because although they could treat her pain, they could not be sure she didn't have a common bile duct stone which could be more serious and require a special scope procedure which I am sure they don't do onboard. Just my 2 cents!

  13. OK, maybe I'm just plain obtuse, but I still don't understand the appeal of the *****. Sure, maybe you won't have to tell the bartender you want a G&T, but is still having to do that a reason to cancel a cruise? Really?

:confused:I am with you, I don't understand the appeal either. I wish Princess had finished the installation of the interactive/on-demand TV's instead.

  14. Just returned from 28 days on Emerald Princess. There was indeed a 15 drink (alcoholic drinks) limit before they started charging for drinks. I drink more than most and I found 15 drinks to be a more than adequate amount. I don't think many people (myself included) will have a problem staying within the limit. I got the magazine today and I see where it does say "unlimited" but I think that's just bad information. Sad as it will give people the wrong idea.

We watched in Wheelhouse and when they enter your card number or slide your card the screen shows your cabin number and also the number of drinks you have purchased on that day. They do keep track.

Were the drinks at the M&G excluded from the beverage package as previously stated?

  15. The upsell price is in addition to the fare you've already paid for your current cabin.

We recently received an offer to a full suite from a balcony for $999 pp for 12 days. Didn't take it, and a week later there are still suites available on our sailing. Hoping to get another offer a little more reasonable.

You can contact princess at the same tel# for your first offer and they will tell you if there is a new price. I once turned down an offer that was too expensive, found out a week later others had been offered something less, so I called and they gave me the new deal.

  16. IMHO, this is just another area where people are breaking the rules and getting away with it.

A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Tasks performed can include, among other things, pulling a wheelchair, retrieving dropped items, alerting a person to a sound, reminding a person to take medication, or pressing an elevator button.

Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not considered service animals either. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the individual’s disability. It does not matter if a person has a note from a doctor that states that the person has a disability and needs to have the animal for emotional support. A doctor’s letter does not turn an animal into a service animal.

  17. It has been my experience that the bars are not set up for service and the most they ever did was dispense fountain drinks. It takes a lot of time for them to set up a bar and then a short time later take it down. The M&G on all the ships I have sailed excluding the Royal/Regal was held in skywalker's. That bar is not opened until later at night. In the morning there are not that many bars open on the ship. You may get to carry your drink a fair distance to the M&G.

Every M&G I have gone to had an open bar no matter what time of day it was and in the past you could use your drink package without problems.

  18. My guess is that the OP was stating that in the past, Princess at least gave the appearance of caring about their passengers. Now they give the appearance that they no longer care.

Mike I am so sorry people were so rude to you!

I agree with Mike, the emails are just a small part of the problem and yet you flame him for expressing a thought about the system. Anytime dinning on Princess doesn't work so they created CC mini's which costs more to correct their problem. Chair hogs prevail without being chastised. The new drink package is more expensive and has more limitations because they cannot figure out how to alleviate the cheaters. So yes, flame me but I am cancelling my cruise that sails in 4 days, because of respiratory problems but yet I am glad to not have to deal with these problems anymore. Princess has taken the fun out of cruising for me, IMHO
