It seems this topic is mostly brought by people who want to wear jeans against Viking policy and are looking for validation / support / rationale / loophole.
I am simply interested in what people think and not looking for any validation, support rationale or loophole. Clearly this is a trigger topic for people.

The resurrection of this thread, Oh Mighty One help us now and deliver us from those who want to have the rules changed for them.

I understand the no jeans rule. I do see many people commenting that black or dark brown denim is fine. Do folks agree?

As I answered you in another thread—use the chat function on the Viking website (maybe not in MVJ right now) and ask the agent for a pdf of the excursions for the most recent northern lights cruise. This will show times and prices—of course yours might change, but it will give you a general idea. You can also call a Viking agent and ask them to send you a pdf.
Thanks so much Linda. So sorry if I posted this in two different places.

Does anyone have a general idea of the costs of the Viking In Search of The Northern Lights Cruise. I am specifically interested in the cost of the evening excursions hunting for the lights, what time they depart and return to the ship. Also interested in an idea of the sledding with huskies or raindeer excursion costs. I can't get this information until the end of October when my booking for excursions opens up.

Can anyone give me a general idea of the costs for the evening excursions to hunt for the northern lights on the Viking cruise and what time they generally leave the ship and return. I can't get this information until my booking time opens. Also approximate costs of the sledding with huskies or raindeer.

Honestly, I would take this question straight to Viking. Skip the call center and the chat. Email Viking at tellus@vikingcruises.com. Ask your question. Include your booking number. The key to your question is what is considered a soft drink and what is considered a bar drink. Soft drinks are complimentary at meals but charged the rest of the time. Bar drinks are never complimentary. Ask if they regularly stock zero gin on board.
Also keep in mind, with Viking's byo policy, you can bring your own bottle on board. You can it bring to any of the bars and they will use it to prepare your cocktails (you will be charged only for the mixers).
VERY HELPFUL! Thanks so much.

I plan to book direct as well either the Arctic train itself or the regular line service on the same route. My current itinerary shows , however, an exceedingly short stay in Narvik. I am hoping someone accidentally typed PM when they mean AM
Did you ever get an answer to this question? I am seeing exactly what you did for a short stay in Narkik which seemed very odd!

Does anyone know how long the Viking Search for the Northern Lights cruse is in port in Narvik? If I am reading the schedule correctly it is only 6 hours from 0800 am to "02:00 pm" which is a strange way to write a time. 0200 would typically suggest military time but the pm added to the time confuses me to thinking it means 1300 or 2:00pm. Anyway, confusion about what is printed aside anyone taken that cruise and know for sure? I am assuming it stays in port longer than 6 hours since evening excursions are offered.

Do the Deluxe Veranda bathrooms on the ocean ships have warm towel racks or any sort of warm rack you can hang wet or damp clothing on? I do know there are dryers in the laundry rooms.

Can anyone tell me if there are non alcoholic wines/prosecco or sparkling ciders that can be ordered at lunch/dinner as part of the inclusive beverage package. Are there any non alcoholic spirits like Zero gin? I am taking the Viking Vela ocean cruise In search of the Northern Lights in Feb and don't drink alcohol but do enjoy non-alcoholic options other than soft drinks.
