GREAT REVIEW!!! I came on here tonight specifically to look for you. For some reason I thought you were sailing April 27th. 😂 I’m glad you took so many food pics - they’re so awesome! Loved seeing some of the Haven food. It’s right up my alley!

And what an awesome surprise for your wife! Love the suite... our inside cabin was probably the size of your master bedroom. haha

 Yes, you definitely can. A few in our party would order multiple apps or two different dinners. They’re just as accommodating in the DR as Carnival. You’ll love it! :)

Do you mind telling me if you had alcoholic drinks?  I am worried the pina coladas are going to be my downfall!

We managed to only have 1 pina colada all week and I had 1 pineapple juice with Malibu. That’s it. But we’re not big drinkers. Although, I would’ve loved having a daiquiri or pina colada everyday! 😂

We took a trip to Maui in 2017 when they were 3 and 1. We had never been to Hawaii but were vehemently against traveling more than a day’s road trip away from home, let alone flying with our kids. We ended up going because it was probably the last time my FIL would be able to fly out there (he’s 80). You guys are brave. We actually waited until our kids were 8 & 10 before we took them on their first real vacation which was a cruise. Before that it was little road trips for 2 days. But you are absolutely correct... the difficult memories do fade away over time. However, you will never forget the great times you all enjoy together. 😊

They’re 2 and 4, both boys, and both pretty rowdy at times. The 2 year old has really embraced the Terrible Twos over the last few months.

Ahh yes, the wonderful two’s. Our 2nd gave us good run. He went from terrible two’s to horrible three’s. LOL We refused to do stuff as well until he was in a better stage. So I totally get it. Either way, you’ll have a great time. I can’t wait to see some photos. 😊

 But Tom, after seeing all my good food... you have to go out!! LOL How old are your kiddos?

Thank you. I got an iPhone XR just before the cruise so used that for all of my photos. Most of the DR photos were darker actually, I lightened them all up. lol During the day when we were able to sit by windows it was perfect.

These are some of my favourites currently that I had on my playlist earlier this month for our cruise. Others have been mentioned already. 😊

Last breakfast was a feast. We were getting off at 9:30am so had plenty of time for the DR. 😃 Not many pics...sooo tired and sad. lol

‘I ordered the bagel with smoked salmon without the bagel. I was impressed with the presentation.

Flipped the salmon over to my egg plate and had one perfect breakfast. 

And no that’s it for cruise food. Hope I made you all drool. 😂🤤😋

Last day on the cruise. What a sad day...packing and trying to take everything in. Thankfully we had perfect weather all week. We had to go to O’Sheehan’s for our last lunch. We all tried the fajitas. I got the steak fajitas and kids got chicken. But they tore apart their plates before I could take a photo. And by now...they were sick of my iPhone. lol

We loved dining and dancing in Manhattan Dining Room.  Does Getaway have the dancing in one dining room?

 

Regarding the eating with fingers.  Etiquette wise is ok to eat fried chicken with fingers.  However those of us who have had noro virus avoid eating with fingers.  Enough said about that, the CDC is a good source to research noro.

 

Glad you enjoyed your food on the cruise.  I just do the stair master at the gym on returning in home to burn off those extra pounds; getting them off soon is key.

They did have the dancing as well. It was in the Tropicana. The Live band only plays during certain times. 

I also carry a mini cross body purse with me which has hand sanitizer that we can all use. But the Washy Washy staff was really good to have as well. 😂

We really enjoyed everything besides the dessert. I would definitely go back. You do need reservations and they’re only open for dinner. We reserved through the app a day before for 5pm.

Tonight we went to Shanghai’s Noodle Bar for dinner. I was so happy this was complimentary.

This desert is a mix of melons if i remember correctly. Not sure what the white sauce was but we weren’t the biggest fan of this. 

We ended up at Garden Cafe for sweets 😂 

In Cozumel we stopped by the Mega Mart.  If you have never been here, it’s kind a like a Walmart. Inside they have a little café and they offer free wifi.  We did not buy any Internet on the ship and enjoyed disconnecting from the world but did take advantage of the Wi-Fi here to check in on emails. I took a few pictures of the goodies they offer…  not like we needed anything with all the goodies offered on the ship . LOL But just in case you want to try local sweets, they have quite the selection.

Menus for Cucina, Margaritaville and Le Bistro. We didn’t eat at any of these places but took pics as I walked by. Hope you can somewhat make them out. Sorry for quality. 

On day 5 I tried the scramble egg pizza thingie but was not a big fan. My friend really liked it but I wouldn’t get it again. I really enjoyed the bacon on this ship...not too crispy and not too soft. 

Got no lunch pics today but I’m pretty sure we all stuck with salads.

Adults opted for no desserts...I think we were all starting to feel the effects of our eating. lol

The kids went full force though.... yum!

Not many pics for Day 4. We must’ve been very hungry and forgot to take pics. LOL

But I did enjoy this chicken, salad and 2 types of Asian noodles. 

No dinner pics from this night but we did go for crepes. I asked them to make me a small one with just a little bit of whip cream as they do really pile it on. I then went to the hard ice cream station and got a scoop of vanilla. It was perfect. 

Also, I did notice when people asked for chocolate that they would put it inside the crepe so I asked for mine to go on top. I’m just fancy like that. 😂

We went up to buffet to get drinks and tea around 11:30pm and found these suckers as a late snack. We shouldn’t have but couldn’t help ourselves. lol

As for your room steward, I have to say and I don't know why this is, we have rarely had a really good female steward or guess they are stewardess. Our last cruise we had one who was really friendly but not very good and the worse we have ever had was on the Epic. I am sure there are some that will go above and beyond but not many. 

I think it’ll be a tradition for us to always make this place our first stop when we get on the ship. I still would love to try their sandwiches. The cruise was too short. 😂

 I’ll be curious to see how our room steward is next time on a NCL ship. Although, I’ve experienced both good and bad on Carnival too. I guess not everything can be perfect on each ship.

😂😂😂 I know right! We were dieting before and now after. If We didn’t live in Canada, we’d cruise a lot more. But that could be problematic! Haha I hope you takes pics on your cruise and share when you get back! I may need new material to look at. 😊

We've been on probably 20 Carnival cruises and left because of the deteriorating menu options and overall food quality. We sailed the Getaway for the first time in 2016 and were blown away by the delicious food (and better menu options than Carnival).

 

In September 2018, we sailed the Getaway again (after a recent menu update) but we longed for the old menu items--the chicken parmesan, spaghetti bolognese, fried brie, pad thai, linguine with white clam sauce, the asparagus risotto, beef wellington... I could go on. It was all so delicious!

 

2018's menu had a few notables like the cordon bleu and the chicken piccata, but overall we were sadly underwhelmed. I don't cruise just for the food, but since I'm on the ship for 7 days, I want it to be good. Maybe the kitchen was just off on our sailing. It happens.

 

Glad you loved the food, though and I enjoyed your review! 

I had no idea that they updated their menu. Thankfully this is all we know. And you’re right, we don’t cruise just for the food but it is a big part of the week so we want to enjoy what we’re filling our tummies with. There were still a lot of items that we wanted to try so we’re looking forward to our next NCL cruise. 😊

I’ll post the rest of the food pics I have tomorrow. I’ll leave you all with this beautiful sunset we had when leaving Roatan. 

I could really go for go for one of these desserts right now! We all enjoyed them. 😊
