  1. Thank you for your answers. I am still hoping to get a better offer than the premier cruise that I am on. I have had the bounce back offers, they are really nice, Like I said, I sailed in May for $300 with a $100 OBC for the cabin with two people. I have sailed on these type of offers several times. I know the summer is busy, but I am looking for sept thru dec. I hope someone will post here if they receive a good offer, I sometimes forget to check carnival.com on a daily basis.

  2. This will be my first Premier Cruise. Will the casino be ridiculously crowded? Will I be on a schedule for casino raffles and tournaments? If we usually head to the cabin by 9PM, will I miss winning money and prizes in the casino because they do them late at nite? Will the hosts set up specialty restaurants for us, or do we need to ask them for a comp dinner?

I am just trying to figure out what to expect. Thank you for any help with this.

  3. Has anyone seen a Pack and Play lately? I sailed on one in May, but my PVP told me that they aren't doing them anymore because the ships are sailing full. I used to get offers from Players club too that were like $300 for an inside cabin for two people, with $100 OBC. I am booked on a premier cruise in December, but I'm trying to decide before final payment if I'm going to go or not. Even though it was a casino offer, it is still a lot to pay.

    Thanks

  4. First, I don't know what a cowboy steak is, but which one is best to order at the steakhouse? The one with the most flavor.

Also, can I order a shrimp cocktail and also lobster bisque, as they are both on the appetizer menu? I would not order anything from the salad menu if I did this.

Thanks, I have been to the steakhouse several times but thought I could not do this.

  5. My best friend, of 38yrs, cruises with my husband and I on a regular basis. She is a BIG gambler. On our last cruise together on the Magic, she was betting max on this dollar machine, (she only bets max on all machines) it was $20 a pull, she won $7,000. Thank goodness our husbands gamble very little! She probably put it all back because she had over 40,000 points and got a BB for a balcony. Even she could not find anything that worked for her. We got premier offers recently, but I prefer the free BB's. I usually get 5,000 points, and that is with a lot of effort! I mainly play pennies, and not max. I wish they would go back to the old way of offering the Ultra cruises.

  6. Asking for ice is not requesting additional service. It use to be automatic. IMO extra service is something above the norm or having a super messy room that takes longer to service.

Yes, it used to be automatic, but my past few cruises on Carnival, there was not any ice bucket in the room and we had to ask for it and also ask for it to be filled twice a day.

  7. I take insult to the "Bribe" comments. I explained that we are requesting extra service from him/her by asking for ice twice a day, and especially, undoing a perfectly made bed to add padding under the sheets, and then making it again. We don't just slip him a twenty on the first day to bribe him to treat us special for the week. We also keep the cabin picked up and clean, even picking up any fuzz that might be on the carpet!

  8. When we get to cabin on first day, and the room steward comes in to introduce him/her self, we always ask for bucket of ice to be kept in our room and filled twice a day. Even though I always ask Special Services (we are handicapped) for padding on the bed and they say they have noted it, it is never done when we arrive in the room. We also request this to be done by the following night because we know they are busy the first day. So for these two requests, we usually give the steward $20. Our tips are prepaid before the cruise. Now, on our last cruise, we didn't know there was an assistant steward until the third day. So, when we tip the steward extra for extra things he does for us, how do we handle the assistant?

We tip extra at the time of any extra request or anytime we feel the steward has done something exceptional. We also tip extra on the last day for the week. I know at that time we can give the assistant extra tip, but I am curious about the ones during the week.

    Thank you

  9. Thanks Capt BJ,

It will be nice that we are getting some new ones so close to home. I have sailed both of these, but would consider the Epic again, not sure about the Oasis, It was like a floating city. I did not feel the movement of the sea at all, and was disappointed about that. It had a lot going on, entertainment and restaurants, we did enjoy that, but missed the motion.

I like to feel like I am on the ocean!

  10. Thanks for all the replies. Looks like Calamari, convince hubby to get Nona's Meatballs, then steak and tiramisu!

Muumuu, we have had lunch there several times, and it has been wonderful each and every time. They use quality ingredients, I really like their sausage, and I am very particular about my sausage, and the pasta is always al dente, just the way we Italians like it!

It is very fresh and hot, and very fast. It is quiet up there and you get served. Very relaxing. They don't have dessert up there, so I sometimes get a dessert from the lido and bring it up with me. There is no charge.

  11. I have read some favorites from the menu of Cucina del Capitano, and I am having a hard time deciding what to order. I may need to go twice. Are you allowed to order two appetizers? Here are my choices from the appetizer menu: Antipasta, Eggplant, Calamari, the Italian salad, Ceasar salad. Choices for dinner are: Steak and Short ribs and maybe Chicken Parmesean. Then for dessert: Tirimasu or Cannoli.

    What are your favorites?

  12. FYI for those that are asking about their Boarding Pass for a port that does NOT have staggered check-in yet. Your Boarding Pass will say "Embarkation 12:30pm - 3:30pm".

This is not your check in time, it is the time slot that the ship plans on embarking passengers before it leaves port.

If you are leaving from a staggered check-in port, once chosen, there will be a "Check-In" time on your Boarding Pass, along with the "Embarkation" times.

    Hope this helps.
