  1. Yes this is sold out.  Don't believe Food Network is actually sponsoring it though.  Certainly a lot of Food Network chefs are part of it.  It's a Sixthman cruise.  This is the inaugural foodie one for them.

They do lots of themed cruises with NCL.  Earlier this year we did their Broadway one and it was terrific.

Honestly, it is the last place I'd except to find them, too. I've traveled over 5 million miles and hit 120 countries, and never encountered a bed bug. This was a first - and I hope last - for me!

Hopefully you checked you checked your luggage to make sure you didn't bring them home with you?

  3. We just had a wonderful week on the Solstice on the Sept 2 Alaska sailing.  We have never had better service by a more positive team on any cruise we've been on.  Entertainment performers were all very talented.

As for the wear on the ship, the only places we noticed it were in the two theaters.  Both had seats that you wouldn't want to sit it (broken, or just super worn).  But it was no big deal.  Just move to a different seat.

I'll report back after our upcoming Reflection cruise.  However, I think( I've seen this at restaurants) with the rising food prices, every food service establishment is looking to cut back on expenses.  Were there ever berries on the buffet?  Removing expensive meat options is one way.

Do folks eat meat heavy meals at lunch?  I for one, prefer quality over quantity, which is why we switched lines( to Oceania).  This upcoming cruise is using FCC, but after this, we're back to Oceania.  The food was so good, especially the pastries.

I hate waste too, it irks me when I see full plates of food left on tables.  I try to take a small amount to see if I like it and then if I want more, I go back for more.

Funny story, when I was a kid, I would watch LOVE BOAT and I would drool at the "midnight buffet".  I wanted to go on a Princess cruise so badly.  LOL

Your line about the midnight buffet cracks me up!  I remember the first cruise I ever went on (so long ago that it was the Carnival's Carnivale)...couldn't wait to try the midnight buffet, managed to stay awake for it and it was mostly cold cuts.  Yep, I had stayed up for bologna LOL.

  5. Enjoy every minute because it'll go by way faster than you think!  We did a fourteen-night one from Rome to Ft Lauderdale on the Silhouette a few years ago and all our port stops were in the first week.  Then we had 7 blissful days at sea where all we had to do was decide what speaker we wanted to hear, where we wanted to dine next, which game in the casino to play,  etc.  We took full advantage of everything the ship had to offer and were never bored.  I brought several books and didn't even finish one because just gazing at the ocean was something I sure couldn't do at home.  It was so cool a lot of the nights to have them tell us to set our clocks back an hour...yay we gained more time on this beautiful ship!  I can honestly say I have never been so relaxed and rested in my life as I was when we got home.

My biggest tip is to make sure your cabin mate is a perfect travel companion, cause it might be too long if you don't travel well together.   We are fortunate to be perfect travel partners. We did most things together, but would sometimes go to different lectures or classes.  We both loved it!

On an 11 day on Constellation in Feb, we ended up with extra sea days due to several ports not yet open after Covid.

They offered LPC twice for lunch at (I believe) $25. Others confirmed that it was the same menu and portion as they had enjoyed on the dinner option.

Worth checking your newspaper on sea days, I found it by accident trying to burn up some OBC.

The "and friends" version is quite fun, there are 4 chefs and they have a little competition.

Good to know thanks!  I think I would like it a lot better at half the price.  Lunch would be perfect. Maybe we will get lucky also.

There are 2-3 different Le Petit shows and each has 2 menus.  The menu that is timed to the animation and a alternate choice if you don’t/can’t eat a course from the main menu.

The dinner is set and everyone is served each course at the same time.  So rather regimented.

We did the original and said one & done.  Then a year later cruised with a friend who really wanted to try it so did the 2 show which has a different menu. That was it for us.  Food was ok, but not worth the price to us.

I have never seen a 1st night discount, like you see for some if the other restaurants.

Thank you, I appreciate the info!

We were able to get the discount when we got on board for the first night.  We visited the restaurant when we got on.   They did give you another option for the menu so if you didn't care for the current themed menu there was another.

It was a definitely a neat experience and we had fun. The show was entertaining and all the food was good.  I don't think I would go back again especially at full price.  Kind of a one and done for me.

Thank you!  I appreciate your input!

  9. I did a search and don't see much discussion about the pros and cons of le Petit Chef.  Is it worth the hefty price? Looks like a very limited menu.  Is it worth it if a person doesn't do steak?  I'm not seeing a discount for the first night unlike the other specialty dining restaurants. Do they ever discount it other than buying a multi-restaurant package?  Would love overall opinions/tips please!

I am so sorry you've had to cancel your much sought after cruise NYC to Ldn.  I know that must have been a tough decision and wish you all the best.

I hope you can find a way to celebrate your 20th anniversary and, IMO, they will find a vaccine for those of us who may need one.

Sending all my best wishes and hope you will cruise another wonderful cruise, sooner rather than later.

Best of luck and here's to you, I'll drink 'er meself... 🥂

So sweet of you, thank you!  And I agree they will find a vaccine.  Lifting one to you too...cheers!

  11. Sadly we are having to cancel our New York to London one that was going to be for our 20th anniversary in April.  Besides the health concerns, we have been economically impacted by this virus situation job-wise.  As much as I've always loved travel, right now I don't even have a desire for it.  Masks and such are just not my idea of a good time.  Bring on a vaccine, and bring on job stability, steady income, and peace of mind before we will be cruising again.  Which I sure as heck hope doesn't mean never again.
