  1. Just returned from the Gem.

Every day someone was sending me something to our cabin: CAS three different times (You fill out a card and they send what you request)

Great review. I'm curious what card you are referring to. Is it something they leave in your room or do you have to ask for it? Thanks :)

  2. Hi guys. First time cruiser here and in need of some advice. I'm super excited about my cruise on the Breakaway in December and pretty much check the NCL and TA website (as well as this one) everyday.

Since I booked the cruise a month ago, I've had to contact NCL and my TA twice due to a price drop and a better promotion. I really want to get the best deal for my first cruise. I'm starting to feel like my TA isn't too big on changing my booking. The couple of times that I called, they don't seem too enthusiastic about helping me. Once, they actually flat out refused to help me to get the better deal saying it's not possible, when I know they are able to.

So my question to you veteran cruisers is; have you guys been in the same boat as me and do you think it's alright for me to change my booking so often(twice so far)? Any tips on this situation would be awesome :) I feel like there might be a better promo/price in the future, but it's been such a headache to get my booking changed.

I always book directly with the cruise line. I have made several changes in the past with no problems. No idea why a TA would give you a hard time though.

  3. We are just back from the Breakaway. Here are a few that I recall: Bier Haus, Crystal Orbs, Goldfish, Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune, Cashman, Party Jackpot, Wild Orchid, Little Red, Riches of the Heart, Candy Bars, Kitty Glitter, tons more but this is all I can think of at the moment.

  4. The website does indeed say there is a "separate 7 day vegetarian menu" available in addition to the items marked with a leaf in the menu. My partner is a vegetarian so he was excited.

However, we sailed on the Reflection December 5-15, 2012 and March 23-30, 2013 and I can tell you that we were told that they do not offer separate a vegetarian menu. We were told that the “website has not been updated and those menu’s are only offered on other Solstice ships.” The next to last night of our March cruise, we happened to meet the restaurant manager. I think his name was Kamal (he was previously on the Eclipse) who told us they did have a vegetarian menu. In fact, a copy of it was delivered to our room that evening. I only wish the wait staff on the ship was aware of it.

I don’t know if this is so much of a web innovation issue but it surely points reinforces other posts that that there is often a disconnect between what is advertised on the website and what is know on the ships. (Another example, movies on the iPads offered with the Alcoves…they do not have movies on them, at least on the Reflection. We rented an Alcove for two days. We were told by Jordan (Manager of the Lawn Club) that the movies take up too much space on the iPads so they were never loaded. The website should be updated.)

  5. Interesting. So its a quick walk. i will call the hotel and see what they say.

I think it will give us another two hours at the pool.

I checked google maps and maped the route walking from the hotel to the casino and sure enough, it is only 400 meters away and 5 minutes.

  6. I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly where it is that you enter Atlantis once you have what your passes from Comfort Suites and about how long it takes to walk over there from CS.

    Thanks.

It is only about a 5 minute walk. You enter at the Casino main entrance. It is a piece of cake. :)

  7. I think I'm in the minority on this one but I booked one for our upcoming 7-day on the Reflection. We have never been on a ship with them so have yet to experience one so with that said, I booked one anyway.

However, like others have said, I have NO idea why they would build them facing away from the ocean. Honestly, I'm at a loss why they would do this. It just makes no sense to me. But...I booked one anyway. :)

    • Deck - Penthouse
    • Cabin # - 1610
    • Class – Aqua Class
    • Starboard or Port Side - Starboard
    • Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bathroom
    • Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet. Great location.
    • Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No problems at all.
    • Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - for a cruise ship, it was HUGE!
    • Was wind a problem? not at all
    • If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a
    • Any specific problems with this cabin? There were no problems at all. However, I will say that the ability to open the closet door was hampered a bit by the location of the bed. We loved the cabin.
    • Any other comments? We loved it so much we booked the same cabin (1605) on the port side for our next cruise. :)
