  1. The last time we were in Curacao we went to Blue Bay Resort. Is that still a popular beach spot? Can you still do a day pass there?

Are there any others you would recommend?

    Thanks.

Check out Kokomo Resort. $35 taxi ride each way for up to 4 people and I think our loungers were $10 for both. Good beach snorkeling. Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Cigar/cigarette friendly as well.:cool:

  2. Kokomo was a great stop... so nice! $35 taxi ride each way for up to 4 people. I think our loungers were $10 for 2 but I'm not 100% on that. Beer was not expensive and plentiful. Lots of good snorkeling around the dock area and the rocks on the right.

I haven't downloaded my pix yet but will return when I do. :)

  3. We have been on both ships and yes, there is a difference. Equinox is a bit better and newer and has some more amenities BUT, we loved leaving from San Juan and only having one sea day the entire cruise. We loved it so much we did that trip 4 times until we retired and stopped doing winter cruises and started doing whole winters away from the cold..... If we went back it would be the Summit for sure.

Agreed! We love the southern itineraries and would sail the summit again in a heartbeat! We board equinox next Saturday [emoji41]

  4. We are going on the NCL Dawn next January, are there and good food/restaurant recommendations in the port area?

Following for suggestions as well. We will be there in less than 30 days!

  5. We had 2158 on the Connie... spent a lot of time at the Sunset Bar and Thalassotherapy pool. It had the smaller window but it was fine for us given the savings on that cruise.

Didn't even know about the large windows on 3! Maybe they didn't have them back in 2015?

  6. OP, I wonder if your family would be able to make their way to Harvest Cay? It's a semi-private island that NCL and the government of Belize own. It's all a la carte, so you could spend your day together, go to the restaurants and beach and then you go back on board, and they head home? That would be my suggestion, they wouldn't be on such a tight time restriction as you.

Perhaps they could reach out to one of the private shore excursion companies who are going there to pick people up and would have an empty boat on the way there and back?

This was my thought as well... the amenities are all staffed by local persons... although there may be a possibility that they only allow people with work permits/id's onto the island? Your family may be able to find out more by asking around locally than we can speculate remotely. :D

  7. Another question if you don't mind. You had said that they have tables with our names on them. Does this mean we just get a table and have to sit there or will be get lounge chairs to lay back and relax as well. Thanks

We've always just been assigned a table and then if some of us wanted to lay in a lounger they were first come first serve. I have left my towel on a lounger near our table with no issues.

This was just after they opened in the morning:

  8. Just wanted to bump this up to see if anyone had been recently and had any updated information. Is the shuttle still every 1/2 hour (or about)? Is the admission still $10? What is included?

It seems like all the links posted in this thread are no longer existent or many years outdated.

  9. I believe you can use your seapass to purchase food and drinks, the UBP just isn't in play on the island.

It was my impression that everything was "independent" from the ship so cash only (or possibly credit cards, not sure there)... maybe someone who has been recently can confirm??

  10. We toured with Thomas Vincent back in October. Such a great guy. We spent a lot of time at the Rum factory and ended up having only a few min at the beach... but it is what it is. Martinique is beautiful, we drove all over the island.

  11. We ended up going with Caribbean Sea Adventures (https://caribbeanseaadventures.com/) as their website stated 19 persons max. Although once onboard there was about 25 guests and 3 crew, so the 19 "max" must be fluid?

Lunch was not included for our trip but water, soda and rum punch (after snorkeling) was. There were a couple of small groups staying locally that brought actual "lunch" but the rest of us cruise passengers had things like chips, granola bars, etc. It seemed to be plenty as we had a good breakfast on the ship and then were back on board by around 3:30.

We saw 2 of Big Beards ships while we were doing the Buck Island snorkel trail and they were both huge catamarans.... so I would say it would depend on your experience wishes... smaller boat or big catamaran?

  12. We were at Trunk last week and it looked like "upgrades" to the concessions area were still in progress. We got there earlier and there were no chair rentals to be seen (just snorkel gear) but they were finally set up and open as we were leaving.

Not sure if the lifeguard stands are usually open or not but they were closed the day we were there?

When I download my camera I will post pix of the facilities.

  13. I decorated our door on the Solstice for DH's 50th b-day... it was quite entertaining :D

Other than that special occasion we use a single unique magnet to make our door easier to "locate" after possibly a bit too long at the martini bar :rolleyes:
