We travel on HAL. The LGBT meetings are posted daily and are usually at 4 or 5pm in 2-4-1 cocktail lounges and always seemed well attended. Made some wonderful friends over the years. We are an older couple (45yrs together); and HAL, it seems, caters more to us older farts. ;)

Give our regards to Ken & Fred. We met them on a Fort Lauderdale to Montreal cruise in 2012 on the Maasdam. Small Gay world.

As far as the ports we've seen; we play it by ear, have a cappachino, check-out the numbers, etc.

Hal and I have toured the ports you mentioned already; but I'm sure some at the LGBT gathering might be interested.

We will be going to the first meet-and-greet to check it out but not the one after Rome - they tend to be too folksy.

Are there any major problems with the cabins on the Main Deck (DA Category)? We will be sailing this December for 45 days and have read a number of unsatisfactory reviews. Help! :confused:

Sox with sandals are fine; but I think there is nothing funnier than seeing someone wearing a really bad toupee. Some toupees are so funny they would look more convincing with a chinstrap.

SMOKING POLICY

For the comfort of all of our guests, all staterooms (cabins),

showrooms and all other indoor areas are designated nonsmoking with the exception of:

• Casino

• Northern Lights Disco (ms Oosterdam, ms Noordam, ms

Westerdam & ms Zuiderdam only)

• Seaview Bar (except that smoking is not permitted in

the Seaview Bar on the ms Maasdam, ms Ryndam or ms

Statendam)

• Sports Bar

• Crow’s Nest (except that smoking is not permitted in

the Crow’s Nest on the ms Eurodam, ms Oosterdam, ms

Noordam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam or ms

Zuiderdam)

While smoking is not permitted in staterooms, guests are

allowed to smoke on stateroom verandahs. Smoking is

permitted on certain other designated, outside decks. Cigar and pipe smoking is not allowed inside the ship; it is only permitted

on the outside decks where smoking is otherwise allowed.

Effective on all cruises departing on or after January 4, 2013,

our smoking policy will change to reflect our commitment to

the comfort of all of our guests. The ship by ship schedule is

below.

For the guests who wish to smoke, there will continue to be

designated areas available for smoking on outside decks. In

addition, smoking is permitted on stateroom verandahs. Cigar

and pipe-smoking is permitted in the designated smoking areas

of outside decks and verandahs only and not inside the ship.

• Stateroom verandahs

• Casino (Active players only)

• Seaview Bar

• Outside Decks

º Sports Deck

º Observation Deck (ms Prinsendam, ms Eurodam, ms

Electronic cigarettes are permitted in staterooms but not in

public areas. Any guest who smokes cigarettes, cigars or pipes

inside staterooms in violation of our policy will be charged a

$250 cleaning fee.

All staterooms, showrooms, dining rooms are non-smoking. However, guests are permitted to smoke cigarettes on their verandas. Electronic cigarettes are allowed in staterooms. Cigars and pipe smoking is not allowed inside the ship, only in the designated outdoor smoking locations. Smoking is permitted in the casino, the Seaview Bar and a few outdoor areas. Guests who violate the policy are charged a US$250 cleaning fee for each day of the violation.

"I am allergic to perfumes. How bad is the perfume smell on the balconies? I am getting a balcony this time. So I wanted to know. If women dose themselves heavily with perfume and then open their balcony doors will that scent waft over to my balcony? I really think people that wear perfume should have more consideration for others. I mean, I do have to breath. People who wear perfume don't consider that someone might have allergies. It's not like cigarette smokers where you can go up to them and say hey be more considerate of others and put your cigarette out. I can't just walk up to people and say: 'Hey, go take a shower'." ;)
