The beach in Santa Marta itself is not worth visiting. It is near the ship but right beside the road and there are no facilities whatsoever. There will be taxis in a parking lot just outside of the port area with locals who will be offering you tours, including to nearby beaches. We had them take us to Taganga beach, which was about a 15-20 minute drive. They will not take you to Tayrona Park as it is too far away, if you want to go there, you'll need to book an excursion through the ship (which is what we'll be doing when we go there again in February). I don't know if it's doable to go to Tayrona on your own by way of a local bus... Taganga beach is nice but don't picture it as a typical Caribbean beach with soft white sand! The sand is darker and course, but there are lots of little eateries and bars on the beach, so it was a nice place to spend a couple of hours away from the ship 😊.

We just got back from the Carribbean on the Discovery 2. We found that some of the gentlemen went all out with tuxes, others wore dress slacks with a nice shirt. I would not wear shorts but other than that you should wear what you're comfortable in.

Ok thanks so much for the info! Hope you have a fantastic cruise!

We have just booked the Pride of Panama itinerary on the Marella Discovery 2 for early January, through Sunwing. We would like to book at least one of the shore excursions ahead of time, but all we have is our Sunwing booking number. Does anyone know if there is a way to find our TUI booking number so we can book an excursion?

christau,
Thanks SOOOO much for posting this... We are cruising in January and making all those phone calls was next on my list of things to do. I'm looking exactly for what you listed: free parking, free shuttle, and free breakfast, so your post was most helpful! You've just saved me a whole bunch of time and calls!
Does anyone know the approximate cost of a taxi to the cruiseport?
Free Covid antigen testing at the Port of Miami?
in Florida Departures

I came across one reference on one of these message boards that there is a free Covid antigen testing site at the Port of Miami near the cruise terminals. I've only seen that one reference. We are cruising with MSC Labour Day weekend - can anyone definitively confirm whether or not there is a testing site at the POM? If so, do you know whether non US citizens will be charged a fee?
Thanks so much!
