  1. Instead of starting a new post, figured I'd jump in on this one.

We will be traveling with MIL who uses forearm crutches (both arms) to assist.

Will they take her out of line and allow her to get signed in so she can get to a seat before boarding starts?

We are fine standing in line but would like to get her to a seat

Request wheelchair assistance as soon as you arrive at the port. My mom uses a walker but the wheelchair is so much better to get those ramps and avoid getting bumped by others that are in a hurry to board.

  2. The same thing happened to us. We ate in a Specialty restaurant and I left a tip of $15.00 for the three of us.

My on board account showed a tip of $150.00!!!! I immediately talked to customer service and they indicated the restaurant had to make the correction. Needless to say I followed up with customer service until the charge was corrected.

I'm sure it was just a typing error and no one intentionally changed the amount. It's pretty easy to type and extra zero when entering the info.

Point is customer service should have been on top of the issue and not (seemingly) blown it off.

  3. Not a post about a CEO. it's a post about lobster being offers on the ships. Completely irrelevant to this thread.

I find it so hypocritical that one comes in these NCL boards to bash NCL on everything but chooses not to cruise on NCL. Maybe their interests should focus on their cruise line of their choice like Carnival.

I don't mind people giving honest opinions on their experiences but when you don't sail with NCL anymore and just come in here to rant hate spew towards the CEO.

Need to get over it and look elsewhere if you are not satisfied. I myself have enjoyed every single NCL cruise and IMOP it's still a great value for your money.

I completely agree. It seems that some folks just go from thread to thread to interject something negative that is not necessarily relevant to the thread...

  4. We have been on the Breakaway twice and are scheduled for a 14 day cruise on her in January. We really like the ship.

This year we thought we'd try the Quantum. That ship got horrible reviews before we sailed and had some issues with storms and shortened schedules. I have to say we were a bit concerned but we did not change our plans.

We really enjoyed the Quantum. Found many of the same issues we see here with regard to chair hogs and rudeness and overcrowding. But our perspective is WE ARE ON VACATION!!!! How great is that. So we don't let the small stuff annoy us or ruin our moods.

That's not to say we don't get annoyed at some things but we try and get over them quickly so that we can go back to the business of being on vacation.

Getting away from work is more than half the fun for me!

  5. This may have been asked before but I can't find an answer...
There are three of us travelling together - our booking included 6 meals for two people (14 day cruise).

We don't really care about going to specialty restaurants all that much and are wondering if we could use three meals at a time so that we don't have to pay for the third person.

I've never had a meal package and don't know how it works...we are staying in the Haven and have most of our dinners there when we cruise.

It's no big deal if we can't share - just curious.

    Thanks, Marisa
  6. I believe I have the same medical profile as the op's husband. It is not considered a disability by the ADA. I have no specific doctor's orders with regard to bottled water or Gatorade.

That's not to say that the op's hubby doesn't have special medical instructions...

We do tend to dehydrate easily and are required to drink about two liters of water a day.

I have cruised several times and have never brought bottled water with me - just can't be bothered.

What we do is bring water bottles (Tervis or something like that), we order two pitchers of water in the morning and in the afternoon and fill our water bottles before we set out for the day. This works for us. We can refill at the buffet when needed throughout the day.

I also have a collapsible water bottle that packs easily into my back pack when I don't want to carry a bulky water bottle.

This doesn't solve the op's issue but it has worked for me for the past three years since I lost my colon.

Hope it all works out for the op and her husband. If I've learned anything it's to roll with the punches.

  7. We sail three to a room and we all became platinum at the same time.

We EACH receive a dinner for two and a laundry bag.

So three dinners for two and three laundry bags.

Also three bottles of the wine that comes with each dinner for two.

    I've never done a B2B so I don't know how that works.

    :)

  8. We have been in the Aft suite twice (same suite). It is a hike to the Haven area but we love the large balcony and the set up in the suite.

We have had two different butlers. One was a repeat from the Gem - he was great on the Gem but not so great on the Breakaway. Complained about the distance from the kitchen to the aft suites more than once. We pretty much never ordered room service after the first complaint.

The second trip on BA - our butler was awesome. He was very pleasant and never complained once. He did tell us that there is a rotation in place so that the butlers aren't always getting the same suites.

My mom is in her mid to late 80's but we went to the Haven for breakfast a lot. she then planted herself near the pool and enjoyed her days there. Everyone was very attentive and she chatted all day with the folks that came and went.

We broke the walk up by taking the bank of elevators closest to the aft section to the 15th floor then walked to the forward elevators and took those to the Haven floor. It didn't seem as long a walk for mom.

We are booked in an aft suite for our 2017 cruise. Just love the space!

  9. The sofa bed is hard but so is my bed at home. Only one person is using it. I don't think two adults would be comfortable on it.

There is tons of storage space. Three closets, six large drawers and cubby holes in the night stands. So no issues with storage.

The fridge is tiny but it keeps things cold. We never had it emptied but are able to get a few things in there to keep them cold.

We have had breakfast I the solarium. It's a small buffet but has enough variety for us. It's more manageable than the windjammer.

Had lunch in two70 yesterday. That was really good. Nice selection of sandwiches and salads.

Service has been excellent. Guest services is hit or miss. I cashed some travelers checks last night and the young lady told me the signatures didn't match!!! I smiled and said I was tired and didn't have my glasses on...

Thankfully she cashed them. She wasn't very pleasant, but all the others folks I've talked to there were very pleasant and very helpful.

  10. I don't want to hijack this thread but thought I would continue comments about the food.

Sunday night we had dinner in American Icon. It was our least favorite. The food was okay but it felt very crowded, the tables are very close together in that restaurant.

Last night was Chic. I had garlic soup which I thought was yummy. Crab cakes were loved by all of us. My mom had the duck and she liked it a lot.

We did encounter the chair hogs again. We actually watched one chair for a while, finally just removed the towel and book. When we left the person still hadn't returned...

We are in a family junior suite. Three adult women and the room is fine for us.

    Have an awesome room attendant.

    Our waitstaff is also excellent.

So far we are really enjoying our cruise.

  11. We are on the current sailing. Have dynamic classic @8:30.

So far we have had dinner in Grand and Silk. The food has been very good.

We also had lunch in Chic and that was great. They have a salad bar which is more than salad, it has antipasto items and carving station.

Ship was rocking out of Bayonne, but today is calm seas and sunny.

We like the solarium, but it was difficult finding loungers at 9:30 - they all had towels on them...we will have to look for a different place to lounge around since we are not the type to save loungers ahead of time.

  12. We just got off Anthem on Saturday. They asked us to fill out a form of when we would like to disembark. We said 7:30 AM. We received Green 11 disembarkation tags and 7:30 AM time. We walked off just before 7:30 AM and were in our car at 7:42 AM driving home.

Last disembarkation time on the list to choose was 9:45 AM, but I assume as time goes on disembarkation and customs backs up a bit. We went right through.

I'm glad to hear this is how it works. It initially sounded like the time assignments were random.

We have a hotel shuttle picking us up at 9:00AM - that is the only time available, so we need to make sure we catch that shuttle.

  13. NCL only has Freestyle dining or pay restaurants. We usually cruise NCL but I really dislike Freestyle dining. It's okay if you like to eat early but otherwise even with reservations we have had to wait.

Because we usually get a suite with NCL we avoid the dining problems by eating in the Haven restaurant or the pay restaurants.

Will be sailing on the Anthem April 8th - we have classic dining for 8:30 - prefer having that to having to make reservations.

It's personal preferences...hopefully they will get it all figured for those that like dynamic.

  14. I need the information off the WG2 in order to report the winnings. I have had other winnings in the past and always received a WG2 form for any winnings over $1200. This is the first time I've lost the form.

They didn't take taxes out - didn't give me a choice at the time.

Thanks for the link - that is what I submitted and have not had a response yet.

    Marisa

  15. I was on the Breakaway in February 2015 and won a small jackpot of around $1600. When the casino paid me they gave me a WG2 form that is needed to report the winnings.

My problem is I can't find the darn thing now. I have written to the email address that NCL provided but have not received a response or an acknowledgement that they received my request. This is VERY frustrating.

Does anyone have any suggestions on who/how to contact the appropriate folks. I like to get my filing done as early as possible.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Marisa
