Yes, it'd be a oceanview balcony. And no obstructed oceanview view balconies on any oasis class ships

Yep....agree...that's what makes the choice difficult....there really isn't a bad Oceanview balcony on Oasis class. Maybe end up a long walk or under deck 14 ...but other than that view wise it's all good.

  2. I have very similar choice...have Oceanview balcony comp for the 4 night and interior comp for the 3 night. However I was able to get the interior directly opposite the balcony...so very easy move and same room attendant most likely. But just like you....for like $10 I could switch to an Oceanview balcony Guar for the 3 night.

What are the exclusions , did you upgrade, icant still see the list or can call , of course at sea .

The exclusions are the sailings in the list. All Icon sailings are excluded. It's good for non except sailings up to 7 nights. I found a 7 night Symphony sailing that was good for an assigned interior cabin that had an ocean balcony guaranty that was only $7/pp more than the interior....so I upgraded to a cat XB ocean balcony for only $14 total ....plus taxes and fees of course.

When is spring break 2025 and is that a holiday lockout time ?

It's good for non except sailings through March 31 2025. Spring break here is March/April. Only excluded sailings for March are Icon.

We cruised on the Icon in March and I was baffled at these cabins. Even with March temps this would eliminate one from enjoying the breeze while others in the cabin wanted AC.
Interesting that we docked by two Celebrity ships in ports and their design had some of the same.

To each his own, but hard pass for my wife and I.

    .

The infinite balcony was introduced with Celebrity Edge class ships...I was really surprised when they brought it over to Icon....but then again I don't have the slightest interest in Icon....so infinite away....lol

Most reports indicate that official GTY assignments usually come fairly late (the barcode trick to find the assignment 45 days out doesn’t count) and by that time there are few if any cabins to move to.

Biker, who won Royal Up 41 days out.

My upcoming Wonder sailing my balcony GTY was "assigned" about a week before check-in opened up for the sailing....there were still plenty cabins for me to choose from. Also some of the best location cabins sometimes seem to open up just days prior to sailing....that has just been an observation I have noticed as I usually just out of curiosity follow the inventory of my sailings.

That’s just like booking GTY - if you don’t like uncertainty or the worst possible cabin in that category, don’t bid.

Not really cause GTY's are usually assigned earlier in the game than Royal Up's and with a GTY you always have a chance to switch your cabin to a different location as long as they still have availability in that category.

Maybe I have just been lucky but I am usually pretty happy with how my GTY's turn out.

We had an infinite balcony on the Edge.
I will never book another one.

While I think an infinite veranda would be good for cooler weather sailings like Alaska...I have to agree. I had an infinite veranda on a Caribbean Edge sailing and wasn't a fan at all.

  9. leaveitallbehind is pretty spot on. We go back and forth between Royal and Celebrity due to the Club Royale offers along with we are D+ and enjoy the 5 free drinks daily each....it's what sways us more towards sailing with Royal. However if we had the same offers and perks offered to us on Celebrity we would always choose them over Royal at this point. If you are going to try Royal I might suggest looking at Odyssey...that is our favorite Royal ship as it's basically a Celebrity Solstice ship that has been Royal Caribbean'ized. Odyssey to us has a more Celebrity feel to it and we love 270. The only thing I didn't like on the new Edge class ships is the switch to the infinity veranda cabins....which actually has now come to Icon class (which I have no interest in at all). I have tried calling Blue Chip to see if they would switch one of our Club Royale offers over to Celebrity but they wouldn't.

I'm on this cruise. Ridiculous pricing beyond belief, however months ago I scored the final cabin of a group rate through my TA for an OV which was reasonable. There were plenty of balconies remaining, so bid the min. Now after final payment... as is almost always the case, and is the only time I book unless it's a group rate.... the prices plummeted, so all those poor people who paid extreme dollars pre-final payment now shelling out more money even for an upgrade. This is the RCL way.

Anyways, last week I cancelled my upgrade bids, called my TA, and upgraded myself from OV gty to balcony gty for $80 total as the prices have dropped so much. In comparison the min bid online was $210 per person. Better yet, the $50 OBC from a "group" booking now increased to $275 from my TA as it's now a "regular" booking.

Always Always Always check the going rate for the cabins before your upgrade gets accepted.

Upgrading through your TA may be much cheaper than sitting around for weeks after final payment waiting for the upgrade email

I ALWAYS tell people...pay attention to pricing if you are looking to upgrade and CALL before bidding. Royal is making a killing on some of these bids. I have frequently been able to upgrade myself for sometimes nothing or below minimum current asking bid for the cabin category I was looking to upgrade to. Perfect example....On an upcoming Wonder sailing I just recently saw a JS pop up for the same price as an ocean balcony.

I recently had this happen when I booked Hooked...the reservation says 4 hours and 30 minutes. My shows haven't opened yet, but I'm glad you brought this up because now I know I may run into problems booking a show that night when they do open up. My reservations at Jamie's and all of the My Time ones are all normal times, it's just Hooked that is unusually long.

Yup...you will absolutely run into issues when you go to book entertainment. All the specialties on upcoming Wonder sailing are blocking our 4 hr windows except for Chops. I had to cancel a few specialty dining reservation because of.

Has anyone noticed recently that when you reserve My Time Dining, it blocks out 5 hours 30 minutes from your cruise calendar and you cannot book anything in between that. For example, if you book MTD at 7:15 pm, it blocks 5 hours 30 minutes from your calendar and you cannot book a show starts at 10:15pm.  And vice versa, when I book a show at 10:15pm I cannot book MTD for that whole evening at all because of the 5 hours 30 minutes it has to reserve for MTD.  This is ridiculous.

I have run into some dining reservation issues on an upcoming Wonder sailing along with others on that sailing. I have fixed dining so not with MTD but with specialty dining....some are blocking out a 4hr window like you are describing. It's defiantly a glitch because it will happen say with booking 150 Central Park with a 4hr block....but then when you book Chops it only has a 2hr block (which is normal).

We put in a minimum bid on Wonder to move up from the JS we booked to a GS. Sailing is April 21 and put the bid in on Feb 21 and no word as of today (4/2). Bid status still shows “Submitted”. Continuing to cross our fingers.

Probably because the suites on that sailing have been showing sold-out for weeks....someone would have to cancel for a suite to open and then depends how many other bids are in for suites....chances are slim.
