  1. Just to clarify this, the cans of soda themselves need to be sealed. The box doesn't need to be sealed. You can take them all out of the box if you want to or you can keep them in the box and mix and match different brands, etc.

Interesting. I was told when boarding once that they should be sealed in the original carton/box. Carnival's website just says can/carton so it appears you may be on to something. Appreciate the heads up.

  2. Local colloquialisms are fun!

I grew up in Ohio but now live in Georgia. I still try to "stick to my roots" and call it "pop" but I've noticed myself slowly changing over to "soda" since moving to the Coca-Cola capital of the world.

Also, it's sneakers, not tennis shoes, unless they are specifically made for playing tennis.

And BBQ is anything done on the outdoor grill (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc).

And running the vacuum cleaner is called "sweeping". :)

That reference of BBQ must be a northern/midwestern reference. :) Living in GA pretty much my whole life, cooking hot dogs or hamburgers is "grilling". While cooking pork or ribs is called "smoking". BBQ is something we put on pork, ribs or chicken. (I also belong to a Backyard BBQ Team so this is something near and dear to my heart.)

This sums it up nicely -

  3. Thank you!!

Great advice. It's 2 of us. So fly in a day before? That adds more expense of a place to stay. Hmmm....We've cruised out of New Orleans 2x. Driving there is 7 hours. We drive about an hour from the port and stay in a hotel.

Maybe we should think of that again. If we fly to Miami or FLL the day before departure, we'll have to get a hotel. I can only imagine that those around the airports and such are prime. It'll be something to research anything.

Lots to think about in about 500 days...tee hee!! Peace out!

We live in the Atlanta area as well. We've driven down to Miami a couple of times, but now I do my best to fly down to FLL or MIA. As someone mentioned, the drive to MIA and back is miserable. For 2 peeps, it's almost always cheaper to fly.

As others have said, fly in the day before. Get a hotel and go site seeing. Lots of things to do and see in FLL and/or MIA.

  4. Thanks for all the input. I ended up booking a 2 tank boat dive with divocean.

They were great, picked me up, had my gear ready, nice boat, great diving, then they drove me back to the ship. I was back in time to go horseback riding with the rest of my group. Amazing day. Bonaire needs to be a week long trip for me to do more diving.

    Enjoy!!!

    Hello there.

We will be there in Sept. Looking for a beach for the wives to hang out on while my buddy and I dive. Does Divocean have anything like that available?

  5. This is what I use for emailing to get the OBC... worked last week :)

Here is the e-mail I send to guestadmin@carnival.com

    Dear Guest Admin,

Please accept this e-mail as a request for shareholder benefits applicable to a (number) night cruise.

My name is ****** ****, and I am booked to sail on the Carnival (Ship Name) out of (Port Name) on (Date), Booking Number ******.

I have attached a PDF file (filename.pdf) of the relevant pages of my stock account statement as proof of ownership of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation Stock (ticker CCL).

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

    Sincerely,

Thanks for the info. Emailing them now for our OBC for our Aug/Sept cruise.

  6. It seems you guys have a lot of knowledge and experience with the stockholders shares.

I have a question and I'm sure this has been answered in another thread, but are there any other perks to owning 100 shares of Carnival Stock - with regards to cruising? :)

  7. Wow! Just tried to book our normal on board cocktail party. After 10 minutes on the phone setting it up with the group event planning coordinator, she sprung the new price on me.

In Oct it was 19.95 per person for a two hour open bar event. Now, $44 per person for the same two hour open bar event. New price started Nov 1st.

    I politely declined.

At least their stock price has consistently increased over the last year. :p

Rob - Hey man, how have you guys been doing? I was about to start looking into setting up our Meet-n-Greet for our cruise in Sept, but this news bums me out. Not sure we'll have a Meet-n-Greet on Carnival's dime this time...

  8. Hey guys and gals,

My g/f and I, along with another couple are sailing out of FLL in Sept. I started looking at hotels and I see there are a lot. Does anyone recommend a place to stay that close to the port, inexpensive, offers shuttles and possibly offers free parking for the week (our friends are driving down from Tampa and we're flying in).

I've been looking at the Marriott - Airport and Cruise Hotel and the Renaissance Cruise Port Hotel. Only problem is most places charge $ to park.
