  1. I think that takes care of it. There is a choice for client bill. Good to know that the proctor was willing to assist.

Keeping fingers crossed everything goes as planned. We have an early morning appt the day we fly out. Hopefully the results come while we can still print them from home.

    Thanks for all your research

  2. pgwilli, hate to be pest but did you have to provide insurance info when you registered or did I click on a link I didn't have to fill out? I stopped when it asked for insurance - why do they need it if this is paid upfront? I have emailed them but not heard back yet. Their online chat worked well before but is not up and running at the moment

  3. I am attempting to figure out my transit zones for tickets. I find the areas difficult to read.

We will be staying at The Square which I believe is near Central Station so is this a 3 zone ticket or is the train different?

From there to take the metro to Orientkaj is this a 2 zone ticket?

  4. I definitely agree with the museum visit. It has been over 10 years since we were there but it fascinated us. If I remember correctly, it was planned somewhere around 1400 and wasn't touched?  Anyway, whatever they had placed in there a few hundred years ago is in perfect condition. Again, as I remember it wasn't very large and I think we had to go down some very old steps at that time to the area I am thinking about. More than once we have told others about Visby and how we will return if given the opportunity. I also agree that it was just nice strolling around both inside and outside the city walls.

  5. So many great suggestions. I will have to start over to absorb them all.

    Current question:

Being fiscally conservative, I am looking at 3 different hotels for July. Pros and cons of each?

    The Square

    Hotel Danmark

    Scandic Palace

We will be sailing from Langeline and will want to visit Trivoli, do the canal boat and one of the hop on - hop off tours.

A plus if we can take transit to the pier instead of a taxi.

    Thanks,

    BJ

  6. I was able to turn my OV 8N non refundable booking into a guarantied balcony and keep my on board credit. I did do a dummy booking regularly and called. One time I was going to have to pay extra and lose my OBC. I finally ended up with a 1 (or2?) D center hump balcony. I haven't sailed yet but the boards appear to indicate this a good cabin.

As others have posted you may need to call until you get the right answer. The knowledge is questionable on the other end of the line. I even had a rep try to convince me that when the brochure said 18 nights it really meant 18 days and 17 nights!

  7. I am thinking about making a reservation for the Samba Grill on the Radiance.

Has anyone tried it? Is it good?

I don't know if the price goes up once on board or not.

We have been to a Brazilian Steakhouse and thought it was good, but way too much food. I do like the novelty of trying things.

I can't find it on the deck plans - is it part of another restaurant? I know I have been on some cruises where one of the "specialty restaurants" is actually a corner of the Windjammer.

  8. We purchased a 3 day pass on arrival at the visitor's center in the airport with our Visa.

Since we were arriving early, this worked well for us.

For the return train to the airport we spent a little extra and purchased a 1 day pass so we could walk off the ship and head straight to the train since we had an early flight. (one way tickets at the train station can only be purchased 7 days in advance and our cruise was longer)

We would have been fine without doing this since there was no line when we arrived but it did provide peace of mind. Anyway, in July we were off the ship which listed 7 as arrival and to the airport at 8:02! (at our United gate in the far end of the terminal by 9:15)

Maybe we were were having a lucky day.

  9. We cruised in an inside spa cabin.

I don't have any pictures but our cabin steward let me peek into one of the front ocean views.

They looked much larger and I think the windows would have a great view. I am all for booking one if we go again. I loved the location even though I was a bit nervous about the possible motion. (there was none)

The spa amenities were questionable. A yoga mat without enough floor space to use it and a docking station for the Ipod I don't own. The 3 vitamin waters were complimentary on our cruise.

  10. I used one once and got my sleeves wet - guess I am a klutz!

Anyway, I don't think they are very practical. Can you imagine the line if everyone actually washed their hands? Good thought maybe but not good for implementation.

The gel stands they used to have in the middle of the entrance at least made everyone think about their hands and I think most grabbed their dollop.

Same thought about the dining room. They used to spritz you. Maybe they decided hands weren't as big a germ threat as they thought? Anyway, I used the gel when it was available but my husband and I both thought it was a little "stickier" than before.

Now, my thoughts about people who sample from the after dinner treat trays and the nut carafes in the bars with their fingers are another story. I passed after watching them put their fingers in their mouth and then pick through the treats for another. Spoons were available but it seems some cruisers have no manners.

  11. We had read about he possibility of just showing up for the interview. Since we had about an 8 week wait at our local airport RFD, we decided to try that. I was hoping that if we were prepared to sit and wait all day something might be worked out! We were quickly shown the door and told not to come again - everything had to be scheduled online. We are only 20 minutes away but no cancellations showed up online before we needed our GE at any of the 5 I was watching.

We were lucky though. Chicago Ohare did not take long to get through when we returned.

The self service kiosks worked really well.

  12. We purchased the phone and we received it within a few days.

We put a small amount of credit on it which will remain as long as we use it once every 12 months. (We can call our home number for 5 cents or something like that)

We used text from Amsterdam and various Norwegian ports and did not have any problem finding a carrier. It was a lot more reliable than any free wi-fi we encountered in ports.

At least we could text home that we could not access the internet even though we had told them when we should have it available. We were confident enough with this plan that we did not purchase any internet onboard.

We paid a small 50 cent fee our use and the family in the U.S. could text back to us on our U.S. number for free

The phone was an easy size to carry and does have a camera that we did not use.

It was nice "insurance" to carry with us.
