  1. Reading that on longer sailings, more than ten days, there are formal nights but on our itineraries it says all smart casual.

we like to eat in waterside on formal nights and specialties on casual nights.  I just noticed this when trying to book our specialties online.

assuming our ta will have to call about this. Thanks

  2. I started a thread about Suite Confusion.
after analyzing and overlaying deck plans one can see that classic PH and PS and Seabreeze categories are unchanged however very little information or visuals of the new Suites where all the veranda cabins used to be

  3. Thanks Keith!  We figured it out with Crystal and our TA and to be absolutely positive booked a suite we have had before.  Look forward to seeing the new suites and other changes when onboard, seems to be the best way if not only way at this point.

  4. We would like to book a Sapphire Veranda Suite on Serenity.  On old Crystal we had stayed in both the classic PS version and the Seabreeze PS version.
On the New Crystal website it shows 3 different versions of this category but the pictures seem to show a mixture of the three versions, it seems that just one photo might be of the 2023 version then when moving to the next picture it shows the Seabreeze version of the bedroom and bathroom.

How can one be sure of which version they’re getting?

  5. We are considering Canada/ New England in October. Looks like a great Itinerary and would be our first time on SS. I see the ship is older and I believe was refurbished around 2018. Has anyone sailed her recently? Thanks

Always enjoyed Celebrity but have always characterized them as " better then average" when compared to other large lines. Then I sailed the Edge in Retreat Class. I thought the experience (ship within a ship, outstanding food in Luninea, and the uncrowded private pool and sundeck) made Celebrity Retreat class a serious contender vs. other upscale lines. (I've sailed Regent, Silversea, Oceania, HAL and Windstar as well).

Just got off the Edge (Retreat) for our second time and found the experience just as excellent as the first time. Here's the dilemma - Have some time in January and found a well priced Crystal cruise. Seriously thinking of trying Crystal instead of going back to Celebrity or any of the other lines I sail.

From what I've read, the Crystal experience should mirror Silversea with maybe a bit less formality.

Am I on the right track?

Bottom line-all cruising is good. Just want to do it all!

You are definitely on the right track, you won’t regret trying Crystal, you won’t look back

  7. Thanks for the review and great pictures!

We sailed with Captain John Scott on Noordam many times and I believe Nieuw Amsterdam or Eurodam a few times. He was always out and about and friendly, striking up conversation with passengers.  I felt he always made for a “Happy” ship.

Eurodam still looks beautiful and Noordam, Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam used to be our favorites but we “jumped ship” many years ago when the cutbacks started to become quite apparent.

Sad they ruined the Crows Nest(s) to try to generate more revenue and now as you pointed out they’re still underutilized yet the beauty and serenity of them has been compromised.

  8. I agree on water bottles.... however, when the focus is on a situation that was not a problem, never was a problem, people get plain fed up and realize that if you give an inch the zealots and crazies will take miles. What will they want next !!!!

People who were caring are going to react by not caring and see any placation or pandering to the nut-jobs is only going to clear the way for more and more radical agendas. This stupid straw thing will turn off far more people from caring about the environment than it will enlist more support....... Any conservation idea in the future is going to fall on disfavor...form the general public who is fed up with this never ending demands on them....

Going to crummy paper straws by these duped corporation is going to create a lot of angry customers, and quietly the plastic straws will re appear. And the 9 yea rold's research will be forgotten before his 11th birthday party

Watch Plastic Oceans , it’s a real eye opener! This is about so much more than just straws

  9. Seriously. Crew members are away from family for 9 months at a time.

They miss birthdays, anniversaries, deaths, Christmas, etc.

They work every single day for those 9 months without one day off.

Yet you were "very upset" at their shrugged shoulders when "stuff" blew into the ocean.

You should live their lives for one year. Screw the baby turtles!;p

“Screw the baby turtles”..... such an ignorant statement! Yes crew can be tired at times and they work hard BUT there’s no excuse for allowing anything to go overboard

  10. I completely agree with the review and opinion of the OP. On our most recent sailing on Riviera we too felt a complete disconnect with staff and found it wasn't a "happy" ship. Also worst drinks ever, not only because they were weak and overpriced but not made well or presented nicely. Bartenders seemed to be micromanaged and unhappy.

Thanks OP for not being afraid to express your honest opinion, I'm sorry for some of the rude responses you received.

Of course everyone has a different experience, even on the same sailing.
