Yes -- we do.  It is the Zenith logo as on the luggage tags.  I've only seen a very few Zeniths actually wear one.

Someone told me several years ago that the pinnacles on RC are "into" wearing their pinnacle pins, and she was happy that parading around wearing a Zenith pin was not popular on Celebrity.

Royal had to make the name tags. Years ago there was passengers who somehow was able to have name tags made that looked exactly like the crew members name tags and they proudly wore them all around the ship. It caused confusion with other guests.

I think Celebrity was smart in limiting access to Luminae. Royal has a huge problem now with all the Pinnacles and Coastal Kitchen. There are so many Pinnacles now (due in part to the double points they gave away so freely) that only the top x amount are allowed to eat there on some sailings, and even this can be a problem. Last sailing on Anthem in a GS there was a waiting line outside of Coastal every night and some of the suite guests were none too happy about it. I would say half of the people in the restaurant were wearing pins.

And it’s only going to get worse. I think with this recent change of status match we’re going to see changes across the board and I don’t think it will be for the better. The number of Pins is growing faster than I think Royal realized would happen. We booked an OS on the Anthem in August and we fully expect to be able to use CK.

No one has said anything about the loyalty programs being combined.

Did not say that they would be combined. I stated exactly what Jason Liberty stated. This change is step one. I also stated that IMHO no way will RCG allow those that are Pinnacle to move to X to receive the current perks including the Premium drink package. That could be a huge cost to the company. There was no mention of combining programs. I simply stated that changes will happen to the current perks. That’s NOT combining them. 🙄

This makes me ready to get to Pinnacle on Royal.  At least now with Elite plus I’ll get some free laundry. It makes me more likely to book Celebrity. I signed up for Silver Seas.  I’m interested in them for some unique itineraries.

Unless they cut perks I see this as a good thing.

Jason Liberty stated that this recent move was step one and more changes might be coming. I am willing to bet changes to perks are coming. No way will RCG give both free internet and the Premium Drink package to all of the new Pins moving to Celebrity. Many are ecstatic now but I give it six months and reality of combining loyalty programs will hit.

  5. Just my two cents. Many of the long time Royal cruisers are not happy with Royal moving to the larger ships and even though there have been rumors of a new smaller class ship possibly being built, I don’t see it and nothing has been announced. I still see only the large amenity filled ships geared to families in the Royal Caribbean future.

Now RCG is making it possible for the Royal OG to move, keep the perks and be happy with the smaller X ships. A win-win situation for RCG. At least that’s the way that I see it.

How do they plan to tell the difference between a Zenith who earned it by sailing with Celebrity and a Zenith who earned it through the status match?  I assume they will both receive the same color Sea Pass card.  If this results in an extremely crowded Retreat on our next cruise I will be more than a little upset.  Pinnacles on RCL tend to take over the Suite Lounge on sailings we have been on, I can see them continuing that on Celebrity.

This was, IMHO, not a wise decision.

Royal is now limiting the number of Pinnacles allowed in the suite lounge and Coastal Kitchen. If there is a high number of Pins on a particular sailing then only a certain number are allowed in based on the number of points earned. I know someone who just boarded the Jewel, is a Pin but received a letter stating that they would not be allowed to use the suite lounge.

  7. Jason Liberty stated in the article linked below that this is just step one and that there might be more changes to come. With the high number of D+, ElitePlus, Zenith and the huge numbers of Pinnacles I suspect we will see perks change and not for the better. Would not be surprised to see Celebrity move to the voucher program for drinks based upon status level like Royal currently has. Pinnacles receiving the Premium drink package will be reason enough to move over to X. Right now they receive six daily drink vouchers and they have to use them in the suite lounge if the access. Guess time will tell but I personally do not view this change as a positive.

Does anyone know if this is a one time status match like MSC offers?
Or once you sign up, do your points increase across the board no matter which line you sail on?

For example: after signing up and I decide to sail with Royal, will the newly accumulated points also be added to Celebrity? or is this a 1 time match, and then everything is seperate again afterwards?

No, points will not transfer. Just status. In order to move up to the next tier, you will need to earn the points.

Guessing this will be more of an issue for pinnies matching to X and crowding the retreat lounge than the other way around, last I heard there was < 1k zeniths.  No idea how many are on RCL, but guessing at least 5x that.

Space in the retreat lounge is already tight with just suite guests. Especially the E class. I see the number of Zenith limited with this new change.

We have choices. We cruise both.

Both have pluses and both have minuses.

Cost & ports are the deciding Factor.

Agree. We go back and forth depending on what we’re looking for in a cruise experience. Each has their strong points over the other. We prefer X over Royal when we book a suite as Royal is weak in their suites area as far as perks unless you’re cruising on the Quantum, Oasis or Icon class in a GS or above but we have found Coastal Kitchen on RCI to be just as good as Luminae. No one can touch the Oasis class entertainment in our opinion.

We like the size of the Solstice class. Our next two cruises are on Royal. Anthem out of Southampton to Spain and the Odyssey TA out of Rome. We have the Silhouette booked out of Bayonne next year to Bermuda. Since the pandemic we have found that Celebrity is very close to Royal across the board. Unfortunately it did not used to be that way.

We took a transatlantic cruise on the Anthem.  The food was good.....no complaints.  Returning to the U.S. we took Cunard, Queen Mary 2.  I have never complained about food on a cruise ship but the food was really bad.  I turned away many dishes.....and I rarely leave anything on my plate.  I have never had such a negative food experience on RC. I am not saying that the food is always great on RC but, my recent cruise on QM2 was a eye opener.  I am RC Pinnacle.

I watched a recent vlog of the QM2 and they showed the buffet after boarding and their dinner in the Britannia restaurant. The food looked awful and they basically stated such with the exception of the dessert. I noticed that they visited the buffet thirty minutes prior to the closing time for lunch so that might have affected the buffet offerings.

We were back on the NV last week. We dined in specialty dining for all four nights and the food was much better this time than it was three weeks prior. We only dined in the MDR for lunch on our sea day. It was good but not great. About what I expected.

I started going to CocoCay in the 1990s when it was just a private beach.

Even though it’s very different today, I’ve been there five times and I still find it possible to find a nice quiet place on the beach. It’s what you make of it. One of my favorite places to stop.

Agree. There are plenty of places to relax on a beach. The entire

Island is not the water park.

Given the timing, I doubt this is a cost cutting or directional change. You don’t post on twitter on Friday then get fired on Monday without a solid reason. Doesn’t make sense.  Hell, maybe he had personal/hr issues which were a liability to RCI? Maybe he has his own issues and needed to leave. Speculating on cost as the reason is short sighted.
