  1. We are staying one night in FLL post cruise. We are sailing POM. Are there any shuttles that will pick us up at POM and bring us to our hotel in FLL?

I believe both of these companies do:

I was in the same boat you are, and was shocked that so many shuttle companies will ONLY take you to the airport and not a Fort Lauderdale Hotel. As it happens we changed our plans, so now we are flying in and out of Miami. I haven't used either of these companies - just called around and those were the two I came up with.

    Good luck!

  2. Or just use the ship ones? I know you can take one off the ship, but Im just wondering how many people just bring their own? We are doing a dolphin swim as a shore excursion and a beach day so we will definitely need towels while off the ship. Just wondering what all of you pro cruisers would do so I dont unnecessarily overpack (because I will do that anyhow:rolleyes:)

Use the ship towels! Pack a beach bag, and use the ship's towels. We did a dolphin swim excursion, and that worked really well for us.

    Have a great trip.

  3. I don't even remember having any kind of card at all. Just gave my cabin number and signed a receipt. I was only 17 though, so maybe my parents had a card and I don't remember it.

Actually, the more that I think about it, the more I KNOW I didn't have to show a card or anything, because I clearly remember being served Pina Coladas - not virgin ones - and no one EVER asked me for ID or anything else. Yeah, I was 17. I had some fun on that cruise.;)

  4. that white area is crew stairs - your cabin is directly under the middle part of the galley. and directly next door to the crew stairs-- So you had noise from everywhere/

Did you pick this cabin or did you get it by taking a guarantee inside cabin??

I booked an Inside Guarantee - when I transferred my booking to a TA she got us a 4 category upgrade with assigned cabins. There were two families going, both needing a room that could accomodate 4 people. These two cabins next to each other seemed ideal. I did ask her about the white space on the deck plan and she didn't know. She called Carnival and they told her it was "just a hallway." I e-mailed her today and told her to steer her client's AWAY from that area of the ship.

I notice that ALL of the decks have that same white space in that area of the ship. Is it noisy all the way down, or did I just get it bad because we were up near the galley?

  5. I was concerned when I booked the room because I saw a big white space on the deck plan next to and behind the room. I was assured it's "just a hallway." Well, I don't know what it is, but it is LOUD. Thumping and bumping all night. I traveled with my brother, and I didn't know if he snored or not so I brought earplugs. They helped, but did not drown out the noise completely.

Whatever that white space is goes down through all the decks. I would avoid all inside cabins in that area of the ship on ALL DECKS, not just Empress. Also that area of the empress deck is right beneath the galley. Although thos esounds didn't bother me very much (maybe it was drowned out by the sounds coming from the hallway behind my cabin), I talked to someone who had an outside cabin in that area and they were very bothered by the sounds from the galley above them.

  6. Hi CJW,

Thanks for the great review. Wish I knew how to send the link of the whole thing to friends who are cruising the Paradise with us for their first cruise. Especially enjoyed your enjoyment of Kareoke! We have assingned 4A rooms so hope we get Nelson. What was your room number, if you don't mind. Also was the casino still smoke free or did you notice? Again, thanks.

Great minds think alike - I sent a link to Curt's review to my friends who are cruising with me next month! All you have to do is click in the "address bar" area of your web browser, where it has the whole address. Press Ctrl + C, then paste the link into your e-mail. To make it easier for you, here's the link to this thread that you can just cut and paste like normal: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=626010.
