They are using the e mail that you provide when booking that is attached to your reservation, not their marketing list. E mail copies will also go to TA's

If you didn't or your TA didn't enter an e mail address then you won't receive the offer.

We did not receive the flyer nor have we ever been offered an upgrade.  This will be cruise #26.  Does anyone know how to receive a flyer?  We are on the email list.

  2. Small cabin, tiny bathroom. Many packing tips include bringing air freshener. Has anyone found a bathroom air freshener that actually works? Want to get rid of stinky smells fast!

Bath and Body Works also has small size room deodorizers. They work extremely well and lots of scents for you to choose. Clorox wipes are also good, but, as others have said, ask your cabin steward to wash it all.

  3. I have always meant to write a review "as soon as I get back from my cruise!" I even carefully take notes that I think might be of interest or help to others while on the different ships, and alas, after eleven cruises this is the first time I have written something.

We have sailed many times out of different ports into the crystal waters of the Caribbean. We have gone to Alaska (breathtaking-a must do if you have not); New England fall foliage and the Pacific coast with two night stop in San Francisco. They were all different and all amazing. We continue to find the people on cruises to be friendly and interesting, always a joy.

Now, as the "never have I" part. I must admit I have never stepped a toe in a swimming pool or hot tub on board. Nothing against it, we have a pool here at home, it just isn't my thing on a cruise. And yes, you can thank us now or thank us later, that means we NEVER hog those chairs by the pool-leaving them available from dawn to dusk for everyone to share.

We have never eaten at one of the specialty restaurants, or even Johnny Rockets. We find the "free" food plentiful and enjoy all of it. Is it gourmet every moment? No, but they prepare, cook, serve, clean up-what is there not to like? We do plan, however, to try a restaurant on our next cruise on the Liberty. Just as a treat! Can you recommend your favorite?

I have never gone down a slide, but I did enjoy the zip line on the Oasis, and my husband thought the zip line in Haiti was great fun. I have never tried the Flowrider, but it looks SO exciting and I always spend a lot of time out there cheering everyone on!

I have never done Karaoke, but I did sit on the floor on my butt and scoot across the ice rink during The Quest, we got extra points for that!!

You will see me dancing, quite possibly alone, at every place where there is dance music playing, yes, I am over 65 so that is allowed.....falls in the "crazy old lady" category.

I have never taken an "over the door shoe thingy" to hold all our stuff. I tried the magnets on the wall, sounded like a great idea, the next morning everything was on the floor? Taking a highlighter is great idea! I usually find it about the 5th day buried in the bottom of my purse or a suitcase along with my bathroom candle/battery light.

We don't buy the alcohol package, but thank goodness many do, it makes for a very happy group of people.

Happy cruising! Hope we meet you someday!

Thank you! You summed it up beautifully - - would love to meet you!

  4. I’m looking to do the swimming with dolphins in Cozumel at the chankanaab national park. Has anyone done this excursion through the cruise? It seems like a pretty good deal with all the activities. Is it okay for kids to do?

Also the roller coaster ride in their private island labadee, is this fun? It’ll be our first time to this location and want to make sure we hit the highlights

    TIA

We have done the dolphin experience and had a wonderful time! I don't know the ages of your kids, but I'm sure they'd have a great time. The roller coaster ride is also a lot of fun!

    Enjoy!

  5. Someone mentioned in a post they wished they used OBC to pay gratuities?

Can that be done? We have earned a lot of extra OBC due to credit cards. We do not drink alcohol, coffee, or soda so felt we might have to look for ways to use up OBC. Traveling with children in group this cruise, and they are not planning Specialty Restaurants and we are doing what the group chooses. Itinerary does not excite since have done so many times I will only book excursions if others do.

It actually comes off your OBC daily. We discovered that when we checked our balance using the TV.

  6. That's not a D+ personalized amenity, the welcome aboard beverage is for anyone Emerald and up.

As part of the new webpage design, the preference list has disappeared. I called RCCL to ask about the list, hoping I just didn't see it with the new design, and was told we now need to call in our preferences. Any previously made selection will stay as it currently is. The printed list may come back at a later date.

  7. I recently went from an E1 room to a D1 room. where is the difference seen visually or felt. it suppose to be 20 sf more room, but still looks so small. can anyone tell me to what room 9630 is like on this ship? thanks much.

The D1 also has a bookcase built in to the end of the vanity which makes it great for more storage. The square footage, the bookcase and the couch are the main differences.

  8. Done the Falls climb, tubing and Blue Hole. Is spending $100 bucks at Buffet`s palace our destiny? Our group is desperate for Something new.

Please RCCL, find a new deep water port!

And No -Don`t want no gangi-Mon!

We did a Jamaican culinary tour and it was fabulous! In addition to the food, you walk through the town stopping to learn a bit of history accompanied by the food that goes with it. Although our day was captured in a rainstorm, it still was fabulous. I plan to do it again on the next stop. Janet Crick is the owner/director and she and her staff are fabulous. Here's the link:http://jamaicaculinarytours.com/tours/view/falmouth_food_tour_868291713#.WlvBuiOZPuQ

It was definitely something different to do!

  9. Hi,

I'm looking at booking a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas and am set on getting an Ocean view balcony cabin. As the cruise isn't until the summer of 2019 I seem to be a bit spoilt for choice on what deck to be on from 6 all the way through to 14. What I'd like to hear is what you all think about what deck I should go for, I mean I know the obvious answer will be the higher the better but I just wanted to know from some of you seasoned cruisers or those that know the Oasis well if there were any other considerations to take into account. I have cruised twice before but this was way back in 2010 and 2011. I fell in love with cruising from the get go having been like most people before that with pre-conceived ideas about what cruising was about. The reason I've left it so long to go again is a combination of money or lack there of and having my daughter born in 2012. Oh, and we're a couple and my daughter will be 6 at the time of

    cruising.

    Many Thanks in advance!!!

We sailed on the Allure and were on Deck 8. We loved the location, being close to Central Park, and the relative quiet of our deck.

  10. can anyone recommend a few reasonably priced hotels in London or some that you may have really enjoyed? We will be staying for 2 or 3 days in London before our cruise and would need shuttle service to the Southampton cruise port and are considering doing tours through Viator. thank you.

We have stayed at the London Bridge Hotel in Southwark and loved it! It's across the street from the tube station, the Lower Thames/Borough Market is literally outside the door and across the street, Tate Museum within walking distance and the Tower of London and London Bridge is a short walk from the hotel. I highly recommend it. We have used a car service to get to the ship. Have fun!

  11. I knew even before going on my first cruise that I’d love it.So last October I booked a cruise on the Anthem of the Seas. Two months later, my family and I had a great time on our ten day holiday trip.

I’ve been anticipating my November 18th, 2017 return to Anthem for months, and three things make it special. I’ve booked a super studio with an extra large balcony, I’ve completed my doctorate, and this time I’m traveling solo. So with a week to embarkation, you can imagine all the prep I had to do.

Friday morning i woke up with pain in my left shoulder, my stomach and my back. When I inhaled, the pain intensified. The pain tapered off during the day. Saturday night I was packing when pain slammed into my lower back. I knew it was muscle spasms so I took pain killers, but within an hour, intense crushing pain had spread to my stomach and wrapped like a vise around my upper abdomen. At 2am, shaking and sweating, I hobbled into the ER. I wasn’t having a heart attack, so for hours I was given medication to numb my stomach, followed by three other painkillers, and a sonogram. Finally, I was admitted to a room, pumped full of narcotics and anti nausea, and sent off for hours of testing. They finally confirmed a diagnosis of gallstones, and my gall bladder has to come out.

My surgery isn’t until Tuesday evening. I need to drive seven hours to New Jersey, alone, on Friday. I can’t lift anything for six weeks or so. To my surprise, the doctor encouraged me to go on the trip....he said he would go if he was in that situation.

So....I have trip insurance and could get my money back, but so many stars had to align for this trip to happen, I’m hesitant to cancel. But with me traveling alone there’s so many things to consider. My carry on bag, swimming, my shore excursions, the long drive...

Has anyone had something like this happen to them? Any advice? What would you do?

    Sent from my iPad

This is a difficult call to make. I had gall bladder surgery and was great for the first week. Complications set in and I was back in the hospital for almost two weeks. There are always other cruises and our health if the primary concern. I would call RCCL and reschedule. I found when I had to reschedule due to shoulder surgery, they wee wonderful to work with. Good luck with whatever decision you make. Feel good!

  12. Watched a video today where a girl said that Security had scanned her bags and confiscated her travel iron - is this normal?!!

If they do, do they supply an iron in your cabin to use or are you just expected to walk about looking like your clothes just jumped out the ironing basket?

First cruise on Voyager in 2 weeks time so am now getting down to the nitty gritty!

In addition to the other suggestions, you can hang your outfit in the bathroom while you shower. The wrinkles will come out.

Have a wonderful cruise - - no one else has an iron with them, either.:)

  13. In the past I've emailed rcldining@rccl.com and have always received a quick response back confirming that we can get a table just for our group of 3.

This year I emailed them over a week ago and have heard nothing back. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this and how long people have had to wait for a reply.

I was also wondering if anyone has been on Harmony and can confirm this...I was reading that only American Icon on Deck 3 offers traditional dining and deck 4 and 5 are both MTD. On Allure last year they had 2 decks for traditional and 1 for MTD and I was able to request to be in The Grande as I liked the decor in that one the best.

Yes, it did take a bit longer this time. I requested our table and it actually took about two weeks to get the response. I was ready to submit it again, and it appeared! I'd wait another week and then resend if you've heard nothing. We used to hear within a week.

  14. I'm thinking of going on the NOTS with my mom in January. She's concerned about the food in the Windjammer. She doesn't see anywhere where they have hamburgers and hotdogs, a deli or the kinds of food Carnival has. Can you please tell me what the Windjammer has? TIA

You will find a salad bar, dessert bar and the dinner menu is close to what is served in the main dining room with some additions. At lunch there are also plenty of choices in either the cold food or hot food areas. There are sandwiches, rolls, breads, salads and main courses. They have hamburgers/hotdogs and pizza every day offered at lunch time. There are plenty of selections to be had.

    Enjoy!

  15. Planning a cruise to the Baltic next year and have a few questions for those who have sailed this itinerary. The route is Amsterdam, Skagen, Denmark, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Finland, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam.

Is there a bad time to go? The date I am planning is second week in June, but wondering why the price is a bit cheaper than other dates.

Does it matter which side of the ship? Currently booked port, but right now there are plenty of cabins.

If you had a balcony for this itinerary, did you use it a lot? We book ocean view or balcony depending on itinerary, price, etc. Thinking balcony since it is a longer cruise, but it is port intensive and expect we will be off the ship for long days.

Relative to ports, what would be your "not to miss" sights? And on the other hand, are there any sights that you wondered what was all the fuss was about?

This is at the top of my bucket list and I am interested in any suggestions from those who have been there!

As others have mentioned, be sure to book a tour with a company - - SPB (fabulous) or one of the others for St. Petersburg . They will take care of the visa for you. If you do not book something (with any company or the ship) you will need to purchase independently as you cannot leave the ship area without one.

We did have a balcony and did use it. We were on the port side of the ship.

    Have a fabulous cruise!
