  1. Yes. It's incredible BUT but thanks to Gov. David Patterson, our 2005 Canadian marriage IS recognized on all levels throughout the state including, I believe, filing of income taxes. Here in Left Squirrels Nut, Pennsyltucky, I was rushed to the hospital after a hunting accident and they would not allow my partner/husband of 23 years anywhere near me until every lawyer friend I have from 4 states descended on the hospital along with my then-estranged sister who came breathing fire. We carry papers in our wallets demanding to be taken across the bridge to New York or to New Jersey (actually both hospitals are 10 minutes quicker than the PA hospital, except I needed an airlift). I just wonder how people in places like Texas or Montana exist.

  2. sjbdtz - Did you just say New York? Really? Why? Because they won't pass gay marriage? Darlin, that is far from homophobia! You would have to count 44 more states with them. Actually, we live on the border with New York and New Jersey and since we were married in Canada in 2005, we find it easier to go into New York for medical treatment, which recognizes a Canadian marriage as legal. Get a grip!

Ok, as to the main topic, we first visited Jamaica in either 95 or 96 (OJ was being "chased" at 40 miles per hour down the highway as we were packing the night before, so you figure it out). We rented a villa in St. Anne's Bay with a view of Dunn's River Falls. Spectacular pool, A giant Master Suite, a staff of 4, a cook, a housekeeper, a groundskeeper/poolguy and security guard at night. We were right on the beach. Paradise. We hired a private van & guide that took us up through the Fern Gulley up to the top of a mountain outside Ocho Rios one day where we sat and got drunk in relative safety. We floated in the pool all time time while Manda, our cook made the most glorious ganja tea. I still miss my Ackee and Eggs. It was Paradise. Nobody had a problem, but we were together about 10 years already and didn't need too many PDAs.

We went again in 2004 on a cruise. We got off and turned right around and got back on. Things had obviously changed. We're bears. We look like bears. They may be thrid world, but they visit America often. It is a dangerous place for everyone, but particularly for us. Until they learn through loss of revenue, and they are a stubbornly stupid people, they just will have to suffer in third world poverty.

I fell the same ways about Alaska. Why give them my money? There are so many islands that either welcome us or look the other way: Puerto Rico, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire (ignore), Barbadoa, St. Lucia (ignore), Grenada, St. Martin/Maarten, St. Thomas, BVI (getting iffy lately). St. Vincent & the Grenadines (do not give a hoot!).

    Just my thoughts....Patrick

  3. Ok, read this whole thread from start to finish....and am totally LOST IN TRANSLATION at the end.

"kewlguy" says he took the transatlantic on the Connie and LOVED the spacious room on the deck in 6035. BUUUUTTT...there is no spacious deck in 6035. It is 6053 that has the big deck. (Yeah Yeah I know, lucky for 6053!).

Then, "Ricky Chan" says "I hope my 6030 is as spacious as 6035", which, technically, it is, but that's not the POINT!

After which, "jerseygirl3" says "Yup, exactly the same, different side of the ship" even further complicating matters.

Such a helpful post gone wrong.....  :( :D

  4. Does anyone have any more experiences of SS6132 on Constellation or the other M Class ships?

Does the angle of the extra large balcony not deprive you of privacy etc? I have this cabin booked for Constellations TA Westbound in 2008 but am getting cold feet!

Any views would be appreciated - thanks.

There is absolutely NO privacy on your "extra large balcony" (well, unless you stand up against you glass doors!). But, on the other hand, there isn't much privacy for many other balconys (and a few cabins) from you as you sit on the your SS6132/6131 balcony.

In fact, our friends in the Celebrity Suite on the 8th Floor which was halfway down the ship could wave to us all the time. You definately do give up privacy for a balcony 3 time the size of a regular SS balcony.

For example, we never at breakfast on our balcony....I just didn't feel like being on display in my p.j.'s hogging down my eggs benidict and waffles.

On the other hand, we made lots of friends, so the balcony came in handy to host cocktail parties. It's a trade off I suppose.....

  5. OK. Thanks' date=' mocruiseguy. [/b']

So, what are some thoughts on the PH suite?

Not worth the money! I would feel so guilty about spending all my money I would feel compelled to never leave the cabin. Now, a Royal Suite is a WHOLE different story. I keep checking the Celebrity website praying that someone suddenly last minute cancels a RS on my Century TA...but I know better.

But, stranger things have happened. I was booked into a 9th Floor CC class on the Connie (the ones with the overhang) and suddenly, 2 weeks before a XMAS cruise, SS6132 came available in the middle of the night. I grabbed it. Serendipity happens....

  6. Bev, I also wanted to let you know--someone gave me this tip, and I was glad to have it--that if you ask your cabin steward for one of the reclining deck chairs instead of a straight-backed chair on the day that you embark, you'll probably get it. We had one recliner and one straight back on our 2B balcony on a previous trip on a sister ship.

    Have a great trip,

    Donna

Really? In a 2B? I've had it done in a Sky Suite (and with a big veranda) and of course the guy nexy to me in a regular veranda sized Sky Suite suddenly got "deck* envy" and had them give him one too. He looked odd with just one chair and a lounger squeezed onto his deck. This is on the M class.

Also, it wasn't the easiest of things to do. They balked at first, but my butler told us if we want it, then we want it and he called the asst. Dir. of Housekeeping (the person you need to go to for things like this, BTW)

    * deck chair envy, of course!

  7. Really looking forward to hearing about your visit to PU. I am also going on a 7-8 ship day in Jan 07, and Playa Uvas is our first destination, hoping to get there around 10 am.

I promise to post as soon as I get back - if not onboard. I wonder if our suite has wireless. Hmmm, maybe not on Celebrity. :(

  8. I can't wait to get to Cozumel just to visit Playa Uvas. I have heard from Eduardo many times over the last week and so has everyone else in our group which is spread out all over the US and UK, so I assume he is doing just fine! :) . We too are hitting Playa Uvas on an 8 ship day and I will let you all know how it went, but I know we have nothing to worry about. Although we first heard about the place from reading Stircraze's review and pictures, I was talking to one of the secretaries in the office yesterday who takes lots of cruises and mentioned it, she said she knew the place well and actually said she preferred it to both Paradise Beach and Playa Mia, was there in May and it was one of the few places that had truly recoved from Wilma (at the time). Our 11 day cruise will be stopping many places, but I am looking forward to Cozumel and PU the most. We already have massages booked and can't wait to clear kayak. We live on a lake and kayak all the time, but never get to see what is beneath us. These next 6 weeks are just going to drag......:D I can already taste the Seafood Platter and beer.

Oh, Duh, that is him above, saying he is fine....hola, Eduardo!!! Bob
