  1. We just came back from a cruise on the Carnival Horizon with a stop in Cozumel.

We did the Trikes excursion last year, and enjoyed it so much we had to do it again this year!  We have been to Cozumel many times, and this is our favorite excursion!!  Armando and the team do a fantastic job with the tour and getting everyone set up and on the go!

You get to drive all around the island and see both sides, such a contrast, and beautiful all around!  There are many stops for sights, pictures, shopping and drinks!  Lunch is also included and is delicious!  The lunch is at a restaurant that also has a tequila tour and tasting, and I do not drink, but I had to try the tequila and it is fantastic!!!  Not the biting, think I’m having a heart attack stuff I had years ago, but very smooth and tasty!

The Trikes can hold up to 3 people, which we have, and are very smooth and comfortable.  You can really open them up at points and enjoy the fresh air!

I highly recommend this excursion!!!  We will definitely do it again next time we are in Cozumel!  They also have locations in St. Maarten and Aruba!

  2. Posting for my sister... did a search but didn’t see anything recent.

Does anyone know how long passport renewals are taking lately?

Sister needs to renew and has a trip coming up first week of October, wants to know if she has to expedite.

    Thanks!

  3. Has anyone had any issues booking recently? I sent a request and they came back right away saying they have availability, but when I sent in my reservation, I never heard back. I have sent it in 3 times now without a reply. I tried to call and got a message that the number was not in service.

I sent an email to the website today, hoping to hear something back.

I checked my junk and spam folders, but nothing, and the original email came through ok, so I'm confused...

Hoping to do his in February !

Does it dock in Lisbon? We were there last month and Fatima was a good 2 hour drive for us.

It is certainly beautiful and awesome to be able to see, but I don't know if I would do it as an excursion, unless it was through the cruise line... just too far for me to feel safe.

  5. I've seen other comments that the rooms are a bit small.

We have stayed here pre-cruise a couple times. We enjoyed it, although the bathrooms are slightly larger than the ships, they are small.

Our only issue was the elevator takes so long!!! They are also smaller, do you can't put too many people on them.

I looked into booking them again for next February, but I can't see paying $319 for it... I'm looking at Coconut Grove and Brickell now.

Location is great, though, we'd stay again if the price came down or we find a special...

  6. Hey guys, just wanted to follow up.

I tried going into the online check in and putting in my DH info, but I got an error message saying the name doesn't match on the booking.... so I called and told them what was going on and the lady on the phone was super nice and told me to log off the site and she made the change for me and I was able to log back in while she was on the phone with me and everything was updated and great! I also asked her if his VIFP# would change and she said no, and no mention of any fee involved or anything! I am a happy cruiser again!

Thanks for the help! Happy cruising all!

  7. Does anyone have any experience with a name change in Early Saver? I know it's typically not allowed, but I'm assuming it means actually changing passengers...

My Dh just became a US citizen (yay!), and he changed his legal name at the same time.

So, we have a cruise booked under early saver with the name he was born with and that's on his Portuguese passport. Now he has his new US Passport with his new name, and the form for his legal name change. I'm hoping if we just bring everything it will be fine, but I'd like to hear that it has already worked for someone. That's all newly married people need, right?

I do plan on calling Carnival to verify, but hoping for some support from the boards!

  8. Wow, that stinks! I just booked 2 cabins on Saturday and if I knew about this I would have booked the guys together in 1 cabin so they could get this! They would prefer the nicer wines...

I wonder if Carnival would let me switch people around due to this change. We are booked Early Saver...

  9. We have stayed at the YVE before, and will be staying there again in January . Yes, the rooms can be small, just like in NYC. The bathrooms are small, just like on the ship! The location is great, CVS is directly across the street, Bayside and all its stores and restaurants are across the other street. If you have time you can grab a water tour of the harbor and homes of the rich and famous.

We didn't find it noisy at all, and we were in a room facing Biscayne Ave.,had a small view of the ships in the morning. The elevators can be slow and busy, just like on the ship too, so we take it all in stride and enjoy it! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful too! We really like it there, much nicer feel than HI for us!

  10. I was already booked and saw that I had a casino offer and so Carnival applied that rate to my booking. Yay! However, on the rate's terms and conditions it states that in order to reccive the casino credits you have to take the letter to the casino cage for redemption. I did not receive the offer via mail. Do the credits appear once on board?

    Thanks,

    Taters

Have the same scenario. I emailed my PVP after I got the confirmation of the rate change to ask about the casino cash, but no reply yet.

Can anyone explain how that works?

    Thanks!

  11. That's a good question. The room is right at the bottom of the stairs, and up one flight is the main lounge. We had early dining, which means we hit the late showing which always started at 8:15. There were a couple of shows we didn't really want to see, such as the Britt Invasion. I will say yes, you could hear some of it from our room. But, the late show was usually over by 9:00 or so. You would have to be going to bed pretty early for it to really bother you. I'd gladly stay in 2258 again.

Thank you! That's good to know. We should be fine then, and won't switch cabins!

  12. Thank you for the review. I just booked the Yve for our October Getaway cruise mainly for the location. We are flying into FLL or MIA (depending price) and wanted to be walk to restaurants and shops since we will be without a car. I have read the reviews about the small bathrooms but since it's just for one night I figured it wouldn't be an issue.

It sounds like you have stayed at the Holiday Inn previously... Why the change? And if you can please share what you felt were the differences in the 2 hotels?

    Thanks,

    Brad

We decided to try the B2/YVE partly due to price and partly for a change of pace. I definitely feel the YVE was more friendly and welcoming than the stock, standard Holiday Inn. The staff, Stanley in particular, were very friendly and helpful. Overall, it felt like they were really trying to make a name and niche for themselves, whereas the Holiday Inn is established and I think they don't think they need to work as hard to get the cruising clientele in.

  13. How was the elevator? I have read several reviews on Tripadvisor telling of slow elevators, and one got stuck in it. I am already scared of elevators, but I like the location of this hotel. Thanks for your review.

I had heard the same thing, but we didn't really have any issues. The only wait we had was because there were 7 of us and too much luggage to all fit in one at the same time.

We are all pleased with the hotel. I hope more cruisers begin to use this hotel as an option.
