  1. I have to also comment as I have been enjoying your reviews for a long time. I have to say that even while you were having complication after complication you took them better than I ever would have!! I am so glad that you were able to cruise again while recovering. I can't wait to see what new adventures this cruise has brought you. Especially in light of your mobility issues (my nephew is in a wheelchair and I've seen how thoughtful and not thoughtful 🙄 people can be.). I hope you enjoyed Christmas and have a happy new year (including the entire family who we who read your reviews have come to know!).

  2. I rarely if ever comment on your reviews, but I had to this time. Thank you for all of the effort that you put into sharing your cruises, your life and family with us. I've had some land vacations recently, so am cruising vicariously through you. I notice people are mentioning your health and I guess I missed that mention in here. I just want to say that you are in my thoughts and I wish you nothing but the best! Thanks again for all that you do!

  3. Not to hijack the thread, but I too was on this sailing. Regarding the question about an MDR open the first day there is one. It is either Taste or Savor deck 6 midship (it could be both). Some staff will try to steer you towards the buffet, but the dining room is open and not that busy on embarkation day.

  4. Hi Kim I have to say that I LOVE your reviews and truly appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into them. I have read most of them and was on hiatus from cruising due to school and would vicariously cruise through your reviews. Yesterday I booked the Breakaway and the first thing I did was reread this review :D

Thanks again because of your review I am that much more excited than I already was!

  5. Have you and M thought about a cruise on NCL Pride of America? It would be an NCL cruise that would stay in the USA. While I am sure that you have planned everything out. I had to just mention it. I would hate to miss a wedding cruise review of yours! I am not sure if it would meet your visa requirements, but had to mention it.

  6. As long as I have wifi when we get on the ship I will post an update as to our experience embarking. I did get an email from the owners of maya chan who are on the ship who said 500 people still in immigration and to head to the pier a little later to avoid lines.

  7. I too am waiting for info from passengers getting off the Dawn today as I am getting on. One passenger posted in the Jan 5th roll call that staff told them disembarking shouldn't be an issue. Still waiting for posts as people are getting off.

  8. It is good to hear from someone on the sailing on the 5th as we will be on the Dawn on the 12th. If you could be so kind can you let us know how the disembarkation goes? As we are getting on as you get off it would be good to know if they are having an disembarkation problems as we will go to the port later.

    Have a great trip!

  9. The other thing that I am wondering about this package is that you could say go for appetizers at Cagney's then later to LeBistro for dinner? Or whatever combination anyone decides. Or have a light dinner at one then go to a different one later? That would make it neat to be able to design your perfect meal by going to the places you love for the dishes that you enjoy the best.

  10. If your port has a priority line there will be a sign once you have gone through security that says NCL CAS (or something to that effect for Casinos at Sea). There will be an NCL rep with a clipboard and all of those who booked through CAS are on that list (which you would be booking through your free cruise offer). Once the rooms are ready you will/should find an envelope on your bed with your name on it. Inside will be your players card and attached to your players card is the card that states that you have free drinks during the sailing. If for any reason it is not already in your room (this happened to me once) go to the casino prior to sailaway as they have reps signing people up for players cards. Notify them that you are booked through CAS and your drink card and players card isn't in your room and they will fix it ASAP!!!

Can you tell I have booked through CAS before :D. There will also be an invitation for a cocktail party (around sailaway time) with free drinks and apps. There will be casino staff on hand to answer any questions and they will do a short presentation.

  11. First off I am very excited to be posting because I just upgraded my balcony to a suite on the Dawn!!!!!!! First time in a suite and I cannot wait! Does anyone know who the butler and concierge are on the Dawn now? I have no idea who is better than who, because I wouldn't really check the threads re: suite life. Now it's fun to be able to look at them all :D

  12. Question about rate of play. I know that this was answered earlier to some degree, but I still have a few questions. The last cruise I was on with NCL I LIVED in the casino. I spent hours a day at the blackjack tables with moderate bets. However, CAS did not seem to credit me too much for how much time I spent in the casino. That being said I didn't really lose any money. I started with $100 dollars the first night that I never lost. At times I would bring my chips back to the table with me without having cashed them in. I am wondering if that hurt my rate of play? If I should have cashed in my chips every time I left the table and then sat down with cash instead of already having chips. Any information on this would be helpful!
