We have been to Maya Chan many times. The trip to the resort is arranged by the staff who use several taxi vans to transport guests. We usually give that driver a few dollars as he is not part of those receiving gratuities via tip jar. Same on return to the ship. We usually are in a smaller taxi or van with other couples. We also give that driver a few dollars. The resort covers the taxi fare. The drivers depend on tips for their work and we are glad to give them recognition. We usually give $3-4 dollars for the two of us. Not everyone does this. Some just get out of the van and walk away.

If you have questions on this, please let me know.

Thank you.  That is what I was thinking but I just wanted to be prepared.  🙂

  2. My daughter & I will be cruising on the Pride in February and will be stopping in Costa Maya.  We have made a reservation to spend the day at Maya Chan and are really looking forward to a nice relaxing day.  I do have a question about tipping for those who have been there.  On their website, it mentions that they have a tip box and that guests should avoid tipping individuals directly.  Tips from the tip box are divided equally for staff.  I can certainly understand that.

Since transfer are including in the all-inclusive rate, do we tip our drivers?  Or, are they included in the staff tips.  Just want to make sure we plan accordingly in advance.

    Thanks for your input!

I bring a small carry on roller bag and put all of our soda in it. Much easier than trying to carry it.

We did the same thing on our last cruise.  I was able to fit (2) 12-packs of Diet Coke and (2) bottles of wine in our small roller bag carry on.  Had no issues with security.

  4. I just received the same e-mail from Carnival today.  When I sent in my request, I sent a copy of the purchase document but they needed something more recent.  I did a chat with Fidelity and they told me to download my latest monthly statement.  It did show my Carnival stock there.

I resent the current stock confirmation to Carnival and they just responded that they have issued me the onboard credit for my February cruise.  Wow, that was really fast.

  5. Thanks everyone for your responses.  Just to clarify, I was only asking for one OBC for each cruise that we have booked.  Wanted to make sure I could request the credit for each cruise.  I am not booked on any Casino offer.  I have a total of 4 cruises book (so far).  This would be a nice little perk for owning CCL stock.

    Thanks again!

  6. I think I know the answer to this, but my husband isn't so sure and wanted me to double-check.  We own 100 shares of Carnival stock.  I am going to apply for shipboard credit for the first time for a cruise in February.

I can also submit again for cruises in the future, right?  It's not just a one-time perk, correct.

    Thanks for your help!

  7. We were on the Horizon in March.  All photos were digital.  Every time you had a photo taken, it would show up in your Hub app for you to review.  On the last day, we purchased the photos we wanted in the digital format.  (we just wanted to print what we wanted when we got home)

Just remember to download from the Hub app to your phone or iPad while you are still on the ship if you order the digital format.  You will no longer have access to Hub app once you leave the cruise.

  8. I have tried searching elsewhere, but wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

Does anyone know the locations of the self-serve laundry locations on the Splendor?  We just booked a back to back for Australia and I know we will need to do some laundry.  We are staying on Deck 7, but I would be very interested in all laundry locations.

    Thanks everyone!

  9. We were on the Horizon last week.  My husband & I and my sister, her husband and kids.  We used the chat feature on the app.  Since our reservations were linked, we could easily set up individual texts and group texts.  For the most part it worked very well.  I think the only time it was a little glitchy was when we would switch devices.  (iPad to iPhone)  My sister and I were switching using both devices and there were times when I would have to close the app and then open it back it.  Once we figured that out, we could use the feature without a problem.  I would recommend it.

  10. We actually did this on a cruise when our kids were 13 & 9.  When we initially were looking at pricing, it wasn't much more to book an inside cabin across the hall from our balcony cabin than to book a 3rd & 4th passenger in our balcony cabin.  It was so nice to have that extra space.  The kids had their own bathroom and each had a regular bed.  They didn't have to sleep on the couch or upper bunk bed.  My daughter even set up a personalized voicemail message on their phone.  😮  They were only in their cabin when we were in our cabin (sleeping, getting ready for dinner, etc.)

We all enjoyed it so much that we did the same thing on our next cruise.

  11. I've tried searching for an answer but could not one.  You guys are so helpful, so I thought I would put this question out there.

If you purchase an internet package, does that cover the Hub App messaging feature?  Or, do you still have to purchase that separately to use it?

We are traveling with a group and would like to message others in the group.  My husband and I won't use internet a lot, so only one of us would purchase the package and we would just trade off using the wi-fi when needed.

So my question is, could I purchase the internet package and my husband purchase the hub app messaging feature and both be able to text others in our group.

I hope this makes sense.  Appreciate any input.  🙂

  12. Ok, it's been a while since I cruise last.  We were able to purchase a wine package of 4 or 5 bottles that were offered at 3 different price levels.  We could have them at dinner or even delivered to our room.  If we didn't finish a bottle at dinner, our server would cork it and we could have it another evening.  Does Carnival still offer this option?  I don't see anything on their website but I think we just ordered it at our first night when we are onboard.

Just wondering if anyone has heard about this and if Carnival still offers this.  Thanks...

  13. We had the same issue for our July Alaska cruise that was just cancelled last week.  We would have received a $100 OBC if we had not cancelled the cruise earlier and if the cruise did take place.  Since the sailing was cancelled, we did not get that $100 but we did get a different OBC for re-booking another cruise after our Alaska cruise was cancelled.
