  1. I emailed Karib on yesterday, Sunday evening. I received an email this morning (less than 24 hours later) that they had a cart available and quoted me the cost. I just emailed them back, asking they reserve it for me. I'm awaiting their confirmation and invoice. I will be there in mid-March.

  2. Thanks fo the walking tour idea. I'll check that out. If I take the #10 bus out to Ardastra Garden, can I get a taxi there to come back to the cruise port without too big of a problem?? Are there taxi's around that area?

    Thanks,

  3. I did not see any sun bugs there, but I wasn't really looking either. The taxi fee was I think maybe $140 for 6 of us and we had him for about 6 hours. We used the St. Croix taxi association- they were waiting outside the gates. Inside the gates are blue shirt taxi guys but I don't know which association they worked for.

Our taxi driver Norman used his own vehicle which was a 1995 era Suburban ( I know because at one time I had one just like it!) it was in very good condition, very clean, a/c worked very well, and he was a safe driver. No complaints- not a stellar day- just a relaxing laid back kind of day.

Thanks geauxgirlgeaux. That's the figure I was looking for. If we have a few people, no problem. If it's just one or two of us, we may have to give some serious thought about the price.

  4. We had the taxi driver for the day. It all runs together as far as prices but I think it was about 20pp for the day. The rates as well as time are all negotiable. We used the St Croix taxi association- they are outside the main gates. There are blue shirt taxi drivers as well - all competing for your dollar. The whole process was a little confusing to me. The Christiansted fort is part of the NPS and was about 30ish minutes one way.

The taxi shuttle to Rainbow Beach was $6 per person. There is a little beach at the cruise port as well.

geauxgirl: $20 per person for the day? Wow, that sounds very inexpensive. Was there a max number of people and they charged you something like $100 for four hours for up to 5 people?

I have been looking into renting a Sun Bug but can't seem to get the company to reply to my emails. Did you happen to see any of these little 2-person solar powered little cars around the Island?

    Thanks for the assistance.

  5. We're not snorkel or scuba people, but we like to sitesee on many of the Islands we visit. We have two stops on a b2b to the Bahamas, one is to Nassau and the other is CoCO Cay. As we feel that CoCo Cay will probably be an all day beach day, we would like to sightsee while we are in Nassau.

Does anyone know of a tour company or would trying to hire a car and driver for a couple of hours make more sense to be able to see some or all of the following? Ardastra Gardens, Status of Christopher Columbus, Hog Island Lighthouse, Pirates of Nassau Wax Museum, The Queens Staircase, The Water Tower and view, Fort Charlotte, a Fish Fry at Arawak Cay and the Gregory Arch.

We are big camera people and just want to see much of the area and have photos to bring home with us for the album.

So, tour company???(Name or contact/email info) or hire a taxi for a couple hours? (approx cost??)

Thanks to any and all with suggestions for us.

  6. You think that's bad...Verrazano is $15.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Forums mobile app

And the great thing is that the Verrazano Bridge connects two parts of the SAME city while the George Washington Bridge at least spans two different states.

  7. Rebeccajo68: I live in your hometown! Myself and a female friend, both of us slightly over age 55 cruise as often as we can afford to do so. We're semi-retired and do a lot of part time work about Ktown. We've done Alaksa (LOVED IT), cruised from Galveston on the 13 day Panama Canal cruise, loved Costa Rica. We have recently booked the Celebrity Summit round trip out of Los Angles for St Patricks Day 2007, (3/17/07), to Hawaii and return. We have two friends from New England who are also going along. If I hear of any other friends who might be interest and are looking for a room-mate, can I post here, or is there a direct way to contact you?

  8. Mrs. Dfolks: If you take a cruise to do research for a book, can you deduct the price of the cruise? For instances, how about a little mystery about a honeymoon couple and the new husband somehow disappears on a cruise???

  9. Here's some information for senior cruisers who rent vehicles in foreign ports.

Hertz imposes age limits on its car rentals in 13 foreign countries, including Egypt, Gibraltar, Kenya, Morocco, Tahiti and Ireland. Age limits range from age 69-75.

Avis won't rent to older drivers in 10 countries, including Belize, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Ireland. Age limits start at 64-75, depending on the country.

If you are planning to rent a vehicle in any foreign port, be sure to contact the rental companies directly.
