  1. Hi Guys, I have booked some specialty restaurants on the Harmony, and I have come across something on the chops grill menu. I like a big steak and I noticed that against the 20oz Porterhouse steak, there is a price of $19. will I have to pay that additional charge even though I have booked and paid for the chops grill in advance ?. Thanks guys.

Yes that’s an up charge for bigger and better piece of meat

  2. Five years ago we did a cruise during Passover. Two months in advance we wrote to the Carnival main office and got permission to have a Seder (we brought supplies and Haggodahs). The head chef (from India) really tried----but fried matza made from matza meal and eggs looked like pancakes. About the only accommodation was that they did have matza on request. If you'd like to see the 14? people (including a nun who always goes to a seder each year) who showed up for the seder from the listing in the daily schedule---check out pix 11a-11p. Just click on the link and you can click on the picture to make it larger--have fun.

Several years ago we were either on a RCCL ship or a Carnival ship don’t remember which one we contacted the line we were around 14 people in our group and asked if they would have a Seder they said yes they also had a cantor there that ran it. It was in a separate meeting room with basic items soup chicken dinner matzo wine and we had our Seder.

  3. As the others have said, no worries. I've personally witnessed only one person ever being turned away from the MDR. A woman showed up wearing a bathrobe and fluffy slippers. Even then, they just politely asked her to go change.

I seen all sorts of people dressed in all sorts of clothes, no one was ever turned away even on formal nights when they show up in jeans and polo shirt. Personally I never wear dress shoe I buy a nice pair of black sneakers and wear them to MDR

  4. Can someone let me know what nights are formal night.. also how formal? We've been sailing with Celebrity the last few years and the now have Chic night instead of formal. Also, are there numerous main dining rooms on Harmony. Which one do you go to for my time dining, when I made reservations online, there was not a choice. Thank you!!

Not recall which nights they are but formal night ranges from tuxedos to slacks and shirt most people wear suited woman wear dresses for the most part

  5. Hi, I'm cruising to Bermuda with my Mom in May. We were looking at the galley brunch with unlimited champagne. Any reviews on that? My Mom is 90 and walks with a wheeler (like a walker with a seat). Does anyone know if there is enough room in the galley for her to get around with that? Any help is much appreciated! Happy Cruising all!

Me and my family did it this pass June it was interesting and there is enough room for the walker

  6. Does anyone know exactly when they changed the number of guests allowed in the Beach Bungalows at Columbus Cove? When we were there in Nov 2017 there was a maximum of 8 guests allowed. The cruise planner now states that a maximum of 6 guests are allowed.

How far are these bungalows at Columbus cove are they accessible for someone with a scooter

  7. Wondering how we will be able to function with a scooter stashed in our Central Park Balcony cabin? While my husband walks without a cane, his walking is still impaired. He wears out easily as well. ESP since one leg is doing all the work. If the ship starts hitting rough weather I could see him losing his balance easily. Therefore I just about have him talked into renting a scooter for this cruise since the harmony is such a large ship. I think it will help him with stamina and speed up getting to certain venues. I can foresee the steward carts being a problem When someone has to get around one but hopefully there won’t be that much of an issue with them blocking the halls. I hope the elevators and aggressive people who want to get in one aren’t! If someone in your party has done this, please share any tips and state how/where you kept the scooter when you were in the cabin or not using it. Also did you have any problems finding places to park it at venues such as dining rooms or show rooms? My husband will just walk into those venues.

    Thanks for any helpful info!

I rented a large Scooter for a cruise last June on the Anthem of the Seas and contacted the line to see if it would fit in the balcony room they said it would but it didn't. So what we ended up doing was notifying house keeping every evening to pick up the scooter when we were done and have it delivered by a certain time. they usually left it in an area that was wider so I had to walk a little bit to it. Anthem was big and Harmony is bigger I will be renting again.

  8. We just did the 11 night cruise and land tour on Radiance in August. Here are my thoughts:

Land Tour - we started in Fairbanks (for 2 nights at Pike's Waterfront) - did the Gold Dredge & Riverboat Discovery, and took the train into Denali on the second day. Excellent all the way around.

2 Days in Denali, with a bus tour through Denali, and a train ride up the mountain. Excellent with lots of wildlife and actually got a peek of Mt. McKinley twice (only 30% of visitors get to see it once).

For a first trip to Alaska, I would recommend the Land Tour - expensive, but worth the expense as your luggage is hauled for you, and the only time you touch it is when you put it outside for the driver to pick up. Bus ride from Denali to Seward with a short lunch break in Anchorage was nice - would have preferred more time in Anchorage to sightsee.

7 Night cruise (Southbound) from Seward was excellent - great weather and loved the port stops - would do the cruise again. No rough weather at all - with mostly sunny skies and low 60's to low 80's for the entire trip.

Next time we would only do the cruise, with maybe a day or 2 on our own either in Fairbanks or Anchorage. Maybe even a Northbound from Seattle would also be a possibility. We have 26 or so cruises in the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and Bermuda - never thought I would like Alaska - but it was a great trip. Good luck and have fun!

Did you do a whale watch excursion, looking to do one in Juneau but so many to choose from any suggestions.
