Just slightly off topic...
If you haven't seen Nina Garcia's Emmy dress, check it out.
JMHO but the dress is awful and she looks like she got out of bed and threw it on. You'd think Nina could do better!

What no photo of this wonderful hairstyle? ;) Glad it worked out for you. I've never gotten mine cut on a cruise but have on vacation. Big mistake. :(

I have a love/hate relationship with linen. I love how comfortable it feels but hate how wrinkled it looks! I bought a pair of linen pants (after saying no more for me) a couple of weeks ago. They are so comfy. When I wear them, I try to avoid mirrors at all cost! :D

I work in an upscale consignment shop in my town. (My retirement job that supports my mani/pedi habit)
I'm sure they would love to try and sell your gowns/dresses for you. Check out some shops and find the one that suits you. Like most things--they are all not the same.

:( One of the best fashionistas I know. Your style is amazing and contagious! Your heart is warm and generous! Don't go!

Ok I need to see what everyone thinks of this outfit for a boarding outfit for our June cruise . I have never worn bold colors and patterns for pants before so trying to get out of my comfort zone and just looking for some opinions.
Have a great day everyone
Gerry
Love the outfit!!!

Hi
I have been lurking a little, and think there are some truly stunning dresses and pictures on here.
Thought I would share some of mine too ( something been meaning to do for a while but have only just done the photobucket thing)

They are all pretty but I LOVE the dark blue!!!

My family and I are ok. We had a shovel brigade going on our block today trying to make our street safer. The city sent a snow plow last night but it got stuck so they never came back. We will survive. Really hoping this will be it for us and spring will arrive very early!:D

Haven't been on in a while. That pesky real life keeps getting in the way!;)
Don't have any cruises planned for a while:( but there's always hope!
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!! May we all have lots of fashion and cruises in our future! J

Only clear polish with white tips for my nails. My toes get polished with a variety of colors. :D

I've always been a big fan of consignment stores. And now that I work in one, even more so! I see so many items come in still with the tags on. I find a lot of casual clothing but haven't has as much luck in the cocktail/evening wear. Although I did find a beautiful, black, lace skirt that I will wear this fall to an event. Happy Shopping!:)

You should have asked me! ;) DC is like Virginia in October. It's either Indian Summer or Rainy and cold! Be prepared for anything. Typically by the second and third weekend we're getting cooler temps. But like I said--Be prepared.

P.S. Today is our 38th wedding anniversary! Yay us!!!:D

Ya'll are so nice! Thank you!
I just want us all to start feeling good about ourselves and the body we're in.
I have spent too much of my life feeling inadequate (even when I was young and thin). Now at 50 something, I'm doing my best to spread the "gospel of glamour" from now on.
Have to brag. Someone told the owner of the store that they loved the new, young girl who was so kind and helpful in the store. It was me! Not bad for a grandmother of 3 huh!?!;)

Why thank you! I've always wanted my own tiara!!!:D
I guess hearing other women put themselves down reminded me that I had been doing the same thing. But I'm going to work really hard on not doing it anymore!
STAY STYLISH MY FRIENDS!!! J

Bored with retirement, I started working in an upscale resale shop a few months ago. It's been so much fun working with the great clothes and learning to be more creative in my wardrobe. But one thing that I've noticed is how a lot of the women talk about themselves when they come in. "I'm too fat to wear that!" "My hips are too big!" etc.... I realized that I've been saying similar things too. When a friend came in this week to try on some things, I heard her doing the same thing. After I threatened to put her in time-out, (it's the teacher in me) I decided I was going to start being more positive about my body image from now on. Women need to have more positive thoughts in their head about themselves and they body they have right now! So here I go on my one woman campaign to feel better about myself and make others feel better too! Who's with me ladies??? ;) By the way, you look great in that outfit!!!

You are so right! She's a wonderful lady and dear friend. J

Hope everyone is having a good day.
Just a quick question--Has anyone heard from Drew's wife lately? Was worried about her since I haven't seen any posts from her lately so I checked and her last post was April 3, 2015. I hope her and Drew are ok and nothing is wrong.
Have a great day,
Gerry
I'll contact her tonight and have her check in. :)

Jkudzu good buy! Look for a women's cut white tuxedo shirt. I found one at Burlington Coat Factory that has knit sides (so the buttons don't gap (love it!), I think it was $12-14
I'm also in the planner category. We're cruising in mid November & I'm pretty well sure exactly what I'm bringing (until I go shopping again [emoji6])
Thanks for the tip! I'm a planner too. Plan every outfit and I always take at least one more day and one more evening outfit than I think I'll need. Just in case. ;) This habit has saved me many times in the event of a broken zipper or the chance to stay an extra day somewhere.

Well, I finally broke down and picked up the Black lace pencil skirt for .........$6.00!!! Brand new with tags--oh how I love a bargain!!!
I've got a blue top and a red top that I can wear with it but I'm going to be on the lookout for the perfect white top to make it a cocktail outfit. (I've also seen them with a white T and jean jacket for a more casual look.)
-
JKudzu I have s black lace pencil skirt, wear it many ways, but my favorite is with a white silk tank & hot pink pashmina & black statement necklace The structured blouse (or tuxedo cut) would be nice too
Thanks for the tip. The outfit sounds great. I had not thought of a tank. I do have a hot pink pashmina. I also have some great red pumps to wear with the black and white.

Thanks so much Indiana!!! I've never done retail before (retired from education) but I'm pretty good at selling! Who knew!
Need your expert advice please! A black lace, pencil skirt came into the shop in my size and I love it!:D I want to turn it into a cocktail outfit but not sure about what top to wear with it. I'm about your size and mid 50's.
I was thinking about a white structured blouse (long sleeve) in a satin fabric?

Indiana71--wanted you to know that I now think of you everytime I go to work!;) As you might remember, I retired about 6 months ago. I've been a little bored so I wandered into a new resale shop in our town. It deals in high end clothing. While I was there the owner was swamped with customers so I helped her out best I could. After the mad rush was over she offered me a job. I only work once a week but it's so much fun! In between customers, I'm checking out the racks for must haves, putting together outfits, and checking out the cruise clothing. It's a great training camp for an aspiring fashionista! So far, although very tempted, I've only purchased a navy skirt (that I've been hunting forever) for $2!!! But I've got my eye on more items for my closet. :D Just wanted to share! J
