  1. We are cruising on the Allure this summer out of Ft. Lauderdale and really need the earliest possible flight out on Sunday August 18th. We are avid cruises but have never tested the early morning flight. We are hoping to make an 8:40 am. The Allure docks at 6:15 am. Walk bags off, grab a taxi and we all have TSA pre flight. Has anyone ever taken a flight this early? Thoughts? Thank you!

  2. We just got off of Liberty. They have a new chef- a woman from Germany. The food actually was the best we have had in a dining room in a long time. Never had a dish that wasn't great. The MDR- anytime dining was excellent. We got there early. Enjoy!

Great! Happy to hear that. We are doing the Bermuda itinerary next month with 21 of us! Trying to make it a great trip for all! We are also anytime dining.

  3. I loved the mushroom pastry thing on the Liberty as a starter. Not sure what it's called, but a few years ago they also brought it me on the following night as they knew I liked it so much...

Nothing wrong with the Liberty food at all :)

I remember that! YUM! I'm sure it will be fine! Taste is certainly opinion. I also think many people go in with unreal expectations. I do however like to know things like about the mix salads in the MDR and a yummy sandwich option at Cafe Promenade. Always good to know a few secrets. :)

  4. Agreed, much better than the tray of (I believe) powdered scrambled eggs. You do need to be a little patient because in my experience, there was always a line, at least on the cruises I've been on, even on day 2 or 3. You can always have a Bloody Mary before breakfast, which will make the wait that much more tolerable.

Great idea! On the beverage package so even better!

  5. I just got back Sunday Norwegian Breakaway. Day 1 - Horseshoe Bay. Take a shuttle (not to be confused with the public bus) $16.00 round trip. They have white kiosks on the main road near where the cruise ships dock. This shuttle brings you to Horseshoe Bay - right at the beach so you avoid the steep climb that everyone talks about when taking the pink bus.

I know the excursion seller was telling us only their excursion brings you right to the beach. NOT true. The16.00 fee - driver will give you stub for your return trip. The mini buses are privately owned so they vary in size. Some are bigger than others. They are licensed by the government to transport for the 'beach shuttle'. Usually it is first come, first serve. They don't leave until the whole bus is filled. I think children don't pay if under a certain age, but you have to put them on your lap. 1 seat per paying customer.

They have bathrooms, changing areas with showers, food, chair and umbrella rentals. $15 per lounge chair and $11 per umbrella I think.

2nd day - Ferry to St George http://www.seaexpress.bm/ferries_about.aspx

The ferry runs different times at different days. Check before you go.

I was there Thursday and didn't know the ferry runs 9:30 11:30...

Since we missed the 9:30 ferry - we had to wait until 11:30 and didn't get to the beach until after noon.

I paid for the hop on/off beach shuttle loop. $6.00 all day

The shuttle makes stops along the way, Tobacco Bay was my destination and various points of interest. It is supposed to run every 1/2 hr. I paid going to the beach and walked back to the ferry. 20 minute walk.

Water is calmer than Horseshoe and you can see fish standing near the rocks.

There isn't a large beach (sand), but since it is still low season, we were fine.

I don't know about any other activity since it was my first time there. Enjoy

Thank you so much! St.George sounds great! I will look into it and put it as an option for the trip. Getting excited. :)

  6. If you are going to do the beach, I would recommend using the beach shuttle for $16 pp round trip. I do not think the older people in your group would be able to "easily" do the walk from the main road down (and then up) the hill to the pink buses. If you are purchasing the multi-day bus passes, then you could use them and pay for the $2 shuttle to get to the top of the hill.

For day 2, check out the thread on private vendors in Bermuda. I found a very good one who offers a 6 1/2 hour tour for $80 per person. It sounds like it could be a good option for the people in your group who are less mobile, but want to see the whole island.

Thank you. I think we will skip the busses and do the shuttle. It is a thrifty group going so day 2 may turn into a free for all. Appreciate your feedback! :)

  7. Thank you for your feedback. We missed the fresh fruit on our last Carnival cruise but thought the food was excellent on the Breeze. We have always enjoyed the food on Royal as well but was nervous with some of the reviews. It helps to know what's good! Take out from MDR sounds delightful, I though in the past you could order from the MDR to your cabin. Happy Cruising and keep the suggestions coming!

  8. We are going as a family on an anniversary cruise this summer. The youngest cousin is 1 and my father in law has some difficulty walking. Worried about stairs at the caverns and lighthouses for the little one and older ones. Thinking Horseshoe Bay for an afternoon but was looking for some other fun activities. I am playing the role of cruise director. HELP! Any insight is appreciated :)

  9. So sorry for your loss. Both of my parents have also passed and last year to help fill the void, I opted for a change of scenery with a cruise. We had such a good time last year sailing for Christmas that this year we are doing it again. We will also be on the Breeze. Like every Carnival sailing, there is a lot to do and something for everyone. Sign your daughters up for the teen clubs, my girls (15 &16) always have a great time and make lots of friends.

Thank you, you as well. I am happy to hear it was a great time and your girls loved it. They always get very involved with the clubs!

  10. One other thing you may want to do is bring your favorite holiday music to listen to in your room when you are getting ready for your day, dinner, bed, etc. Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without my favorite songs.... I would also bring a small battery operated candle and maybe a mistletoe!

Great idea! Love this and will need to bring along Harry Connick Christmas!

  11. Thank you! Those are some great ideas. I will bring a photo as well as get them some other cruise goodies. I think we will bring stockings as well. I am sure it is going to be great! We love all cruises. It is what you make of it! We brought my parents on their first cruise 10 years ago on Disney. After that they were hooked! They spent many years cruising together!

  12. We have 3 teenage girls and recently lost my mom (age 63) and less than 2 years ago my dad (age 63). They spend every Christmas Eve with us and stay over. We decided to do something different instead of being home and feeling that loss even more we booked a Christmas Cruise on the Breeze!

We have never traveled with Carnival or at Christmas!

    Any pointers?

    Thanks!

  13. If anyone has more specifics, I'd like to know.

I'll be on the GA with family, including my niece & nephew, ages 6 & 9 next Feb.

Spice was my absolute favorite place on Epic. I especially enjoyed late night appetizers there and would rather not exclude my brother's kids on the upcoming cruise whenever I can. So any opportunity we can bring them back there would be great!

We were on the GA two weeks ago and our kids were allowed in the parties. They went to the Glow party, 80s and farewell party. I really enjoyed this aspect of the ship because I like having my kids with me. Bliss was 18 and over but the Spice parties seemed open to all ages. Hope this helps.
